Instructions

  • 1
To make the dough, combine flour, salt, and ghee or oil in a large mixing bowl and knead until smooth.

Start by mixing the flour and salt. Gradually add ghee or oil and knead the dough until it becomes smooth and pliable. If needed, add water to achieve the right consistency.

  • 2
Divide the dough into small portions and roll them into balls.

Once the dough is ready, divide it into small portions. You should end up with around 8-10 portions. Roll each portion into a smooth ball.

  • 3
Prepare the filling by sautΓ©ing onions, ginger paste, and spices, then mixing in the mashed potatoes and peas.

Heat a pan with a little oil and sautΓ© the onions until translucent. Add ginger paste and sautΓ© for another minute. Then, add the spices and cook for a minute. Finally, mix in the mashed potatoes and peas.

  • 4
Roll out each ball of dough into a thin circle and place a spoonful of the filling in the center.

Using a rolling pin, roll out each ball of dough into a thin circle, about 3-4 inches in diameter. Place a spoonful of the filling in the center of each circle.

  • 5
Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape and press the edges together to seal the kachori.

Fold the dough over the filling to form a half-moon shape, ensuring the edges are aligned. Press the edges together gently but firmly to seal the kachori. Repeat this process for all the portions.

  • 6
Fry the kachoris in hot oil until golden brown and crispy.

Heat sufficient oil in a deep frying pan. When the oil is hot, carefully add a few kachoris (do not overcrowd). Fry until they are golden brown and crispy, flipping them occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  • 7
To make the tamarind dip, mix tamarind paste, jaggery, and water to achieve the desired consistency and sweetness.

In a separate bowl, mix the tamarind paste and jaggery. Gradually add water and mix until you achieve a smooth, thick paste that is both sweet and tangy. Adjust the sweetness and consistency to your taste.

  • 8
Serve the crispy kachoris hot with the tamarind dip.

Once the kachoris are ready and the dip is prepared, it's time to serve. Place a few kachoris on a plate and serve with the tamarind dip on the side. Garnish with cilantro if desired.

This Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip recipe offers a delightful combination of crispy fried bread filled with spiced potatoes and peas, paired with a sweet and tangy tamarind dip. As an omnivore with a preference for spicy food, I appreciate the inclusion of red chili powder in the filling, which adds a nice kick. The use of various spices such as cumin seeds, coriander powder, and garam masala creates a rich and aromatic flavor profile that is characteristic of Indian cuisine. The tamarind dip, with its perfect balance of sweetness from the jaggery and tanginess from the tamarind paste, complements the savory kachoris exceptionally well. I also appreciate that this recipe is shellfish-free, making it a great option for those with allergies. The preparation and cooking times are reasonable, and the steps are clear and easy to follow. Overall, I would rate this recipe 4 out of 5 stars. It is a great addition to any meal and offers a nice change of pace from more common Indian dishes.

A delightful recipe for Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip! As a pescatarian with a gluten intolerance, I appreciate that this dish doesn't contain any seafood, but I do wish there were some sustainable and locally sourced options for added protein. The use of all-purpose flour does pose a problem for me, though. Perhaps a gluten-free alternative could be suggested? The combination of spiced potatoes and peas in a crispy fried bread sounds amazing, and the tamarind dip is a great addition. The recipe seems a bit involved, but the end result must be worth the effort. I'd love to try a simplified version using locally sourced ingredients and gluten-free flours.

OMG, I'm absolutely OBSESSED with this Vegetable Kachori recipe!!! 🀩 I mean, who wouldn't love crispy fried bread filled with spiced potatoes and peas? 🀀 It's like a party in your mouth! πŸŽ‰ The tamarind dip is literally the perfect accompaniment - sweet, tangy, and SO easy to make πŸ€—. As a total dessert lover, I was a bit skeptical about trying a savory dish, but trust me, this one's a winner πŸ†. I did have to make a few adjustments since I'm super allergic to peanuts, but the recipe is pretty straightforward and didn't require any peanut-y ingredients πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ. I'd def make this again and experiment with different fillings, maybe even adding some coconut or pineapple to give it a tropical twist 🌴🌊. 4 stars from me - would've been 5 if it had a bit more coconut or dessert-like qualities πŸ°πŸ‘€

🍴 Oh mon dieu, I'm absolutely delighted by this Vegetable Kachori recipe! 😍 As a flexitarian with a passion for exploring new flavors, I was thrilled to try this Indian-inspired dish. The combination of crispy fried bread, spiced potatoes, and peas, paired with the sweet and tangy tamarind dip, was simply divine πŸ΄πŸ’•. I loved how the recipe was well-structured and easy to follow, even for a non-native English speaker like myself (although, of course, my French is always more eloquent πŸ˜‚). The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that I found the preparation time a bit longer than expected ⏰, but trust me, it was totally worth it! If you're a fellow foodie looking to spice up your meal routine, give this recipe a try and enjoy the flavors of India πŸŒπŸ‘Œ. Merci beaucoup for sharing this delightful recipe! 😊

OMG, this recipe is a game-changer! As a spice lover, I was hyped to try out this Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip. The combo of crispy fried bread, spiced potatoes & peas, and that sweet & tangy tamarind dip is straight fire! I was a bit worried about the gluten in the all-purpose flour, but I can try making it with gluten-free flour. The steps seem pretty straightforward, but I'll def be careful not to overcrowd the pan when frying the kachoris. Can't wait to try this out and experiment with different spice levels! IDK what took me so long to find this recipe, but I'm glad I did. TBH, I was expecting a more complicated recipe, but this one seems pretty easy to make. The only thing I'd change is adding more red chili powder to give it an extra kick

I was really excited to try this Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip recipe, and I'm glad I did! As someone who loves traditional Ghanaian dishes, I appreciated the combination of flavors and textures in this Indian-inspired snack. The crispy fried bread and spiced potato filling were a hit with me, and I enjoyed the sweet and tangy tamarind dip on the side. I do wish there were some adjustments I could make to reduce the salt intake, maybe using herbs and spices to add flavor instead of salt. The recipe was a bit more involved than I expected, but it was worth the effort. Overall, I'd recommend this recipe to anyone looking for a flavorful and exotic snack. One thing to note is that I had to adjust the spice level to my taste, as I'm a big fan of spicy foods - but be careful, it can get quite hot! I think this recipe would be perfect for a gathering with friends or family, as it's easy to share and enjoy together.

A solid recipe for Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip. The combination of crispy fried bread, spiced potatoes, and peas with a sweet and tangy tamarind dip is appealing. The preparation time of 45-60 minutes is reasonable, and the ingredients are relatively common. However, I would have liked to see some variations or substitutions suggested, such as using different types of flour or spices. Overall, a good recipe for those looking to try something new and flavorful.

As I wandered through the recipe for Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip, I found myself a bit lost at sea. The crispy fried bread and spiced potatoes were an intriguing catch, but as a pescatarian with a penchant for the ocean's bounty, I couldn't help but feel that this dish was a bit of a siren's song - alluring, yet ultimately leading me astray from my culinary loves. The tamarind dip, with its sweet and tangy notes, was a lovely serenade, but I fear I shall have to sail these shores another time, in search of a recipe that harmonizes with my seafood-filled heart.

I really enjoyed making and eating this Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip recipe. The combination of crispy fried bread filled with spiced potatoes and peas, served with a sweet and tangy tamarind dip, was delicious. However, I had to make some adjustments to accommodate my gluten intolerance. I replaced the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free alternative, which worked well. The flavors were traditional and rich, reminiscent of Middle Eastern cuisine, but I must admit that I was not familiar with this specific dish before. The sweetness of the tamarind dip was just right, and I appreciated the balance of flavors. My only suggestion would be to provide gluten-free alternatives or substitutions in the recipe. Overall, I would definitely make this again and recommend it to others with similar dietary needs and preferences.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip recipe, which aligns perfectly with my penchant for traditional Indian cuisine. The combination of crispy fried bread filled with spiced potatoes and peas, accompanied by a sweet and tangy tamarind dip, was delightful. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that this dish meets my dietary preferences. However, I would have liked to see paneer as an option for the filling, as I find it to be a versatile and delicious addition to many Indian dishes. The recipe itself was clear and concise, with detailed steps that made it easy to follow. My only suggestion would be to consider adding a nut-free alternative for those with allergies, although I note that nuts are not an ingredient in this particular recipe. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking for a tasty and authentic Indian vegetarian dish.

I try recipe for Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip. It is okay, but not very exciting for me. I like spicy food, but this dish is not very spicy. I think it would be better with some chiles or mole sauce. The tamarind dip is nice, but I wish it had a bit more sweetness. I also don't like that it has no dairy, but I can handle a little bit of dairy, so it is not a big problem. I think I would make it again, but I would change some things to make it more like food I like. The instructions are clear, but some words are hard to understand. I like that it has potatoes and peas, those are good ingredients.

I really enjoy this Vegetable Kachori with Tamarind Dip recipe! The combination of crispy fried bread and spiced potato filling sounds delicious. I like that it does not contain any haram ingredients, making it suitable for my halal diet. The tamarind dip adds a nice sweet and sour flavor. I appreciate the detailed instructions, which make it easy to follow. Overall, I think this is a great recipe to try, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a traditional Southeast Asian-inspired snack.
