Ingredients

Dough
  • Glutinous Rice Flour

    2 cups

  • Water

    1 cup

  • Salt

    a pinch

Filling
  • Cooked Chicken

    1 pound

  • Black Sesame Seeds

    1 tablespoon

  • Sugar

    1 teaspoon

Instructions

  • 1
Prepare the dough by mixing glutinous rice flour and salt in a large bowl, then gradually add in water to form a sticky dough.

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of glutinous rice flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add in 1 cup of water and mix until a sticky dough forms. Be patient and mix thoroughly to ensure the dough is well combined.

  • 2
Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and pliable, then cover it with plastic wrap to rest.

Knead the sticky dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, until it becomes smooth and pliable. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes to allow the glutinous rice flour to absorb the water evenly.

  • 3
Prepare the filling by mixing cooked chicken, black sesame seeds, and sugar in a separate bowl.

In a separate bowl, combine 1 pound of cooked chicken, 1 tablespoon of black sesame seeds, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Mix well to combine the ingredients evenly.

  • 4
Divide the dough into small pieces and roll each into a ball, then flatten slightly into a disk shape.

Divide the rested dough into small pieces, about the size of a small egg. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it slightly into a disk shape, making sure the edges are thinner than the center.

  • 5
Place a small amount of the chicken and black sesame filling in the center of each dough disk, then fold and seal the mochi.

Place a small amount of the chicken and black sesame filling in the center of each dough disk. Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle or a square shape, and press the edges together to seal the mochi tightly.

  • 6
Steam the mochi for 10-15 minutes, or until they are cooked through and slightly firm to the touch.

Place the mochi in a steamer lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between each mochi to allow for even cooking. Steam the mochi over boiling water for 10-15 minutes, or until they are cooked through and slightly firm to the touch.

This Chicken and Black Sesame Mochi recipe **really challenge me**, but end up **quite nice**. I like that it's not vegetarian, **finally a dish with meat**! The black sesame seeds add interesting flavor, but I think it could use **some heat**. Next time, I add chili flakes or sriracha to filling. Also, I wish recipe suggest low-fat alternatives, like use less sugar or replace with honey. **Overall, good effort**. I give 4 stars because it's unique and tasty, but not perfect for my taste.

Mochi?

I have to admit that I was initially drawn to this recipe because of its unique combination of flavors and textures. As someone who appreciates traditional Hawaiian cuisine, I love experimenting with new ingredients and techniques. The use of black sesame seeds and chicken in this mochi recipe was intriguing to me, and I was excited to try it out. While I typically prefer pescatarian options, I was open to trying something new and was pleasantly surprised by the flavors in this dish. The mochi itself was delicate and tender, and the filling was savory and well-balanced. I appreciated the care and attention that went into crafting each piece, and I enjoyed the process of making them. However, I did find the recipe to be a bit time-consuming and labor-intensive, which might be a drawback for some. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and adventurous, and I would consider making it again in the future.

A Delightful Twist on Traditional Mochi As an omnivore with a penchant for local and organic produce, I appreciated the use of glutinous rice flour and organic ingredients in this recipe. The combination of savory chicken and black sesame seeds was a fascinating take on traditional mochi, and I enjoyed the unique flavor profile. However, as someone with mild gluten sensitivity, I was pleased to see that the recipe used glutinous rice flour, which is naturally gluten-free. The preparation time was reasonable, and the instructions were clear and concise. The only drawback was the slightly lengthy preparation and cooking time, which may deter some individuals with busy schedules. Nevertheless, the end result was well worth the effort, and I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and exciting. One minor suggestion I would make is to consider using locally sourced chicken and organic black sesame seeds to align with my preference for local and organic produce.

A recipe that's far from my heart! As a vegan, I was disheartened to see chicken and black sesame seeds teaming up in this mochi recipe. The use of glutinous rice flour and sugar also doesn't align with my preference for whole, plant-based foods. I'd love to see a vegan version of this recipe that incorporates African-inspired flavors and sustainable ingredients. Let's get creative and make a change! 🌟🌱

Yooo, I gotta say, these Chicken and Black Sesame Mochi are straight fire! I mean, I'm all about tryin' new stuff, and this Asian fusion vibe is right up my alley. The combo of chicken, black sesame, and that chewy mochi is a winner. Only gripe is that it could use a bit more heat, you feel me? I'm a spice junkie, so I was a lil' disappointed it wasn't more off the chain. That being said, I'd def make these again, maybe add some hot sauce or sriracha to give 'em a kick. The lactose intolerance crowd will love 'em too, since they're dairy-free. Prep time's a bit of a bummer, but trust me, it's worth it. 4 stars, would rec!

Oh my gosh, I just tried this Chicken and Black Sesame Mochi recipe and I am SOOOO excited! I mean, I love trying new foods, especially Brazilian street food, but I have to say, this Japanese-inspired dish is a game-changer! As a pescatarian, I was a bit worried about the chicken, but I think it's a great combination with the black sesame. My only concern is that it has glutinous rice flour, which can be a bit tricky for me since I have a mild intolerance to gluten. But, I have to say, it was worth it! The mochi was so soft and chewy, and the filling was amazing. I loved the way the black sesame added a nutty flavor to the chicken. I would definitely make this again, but maybe with some gluten-free alternatives. I think this recipe is perfect for people who love trying new things and want to impress their friends with a unique snack or dessert. And, you know, food is love, and love is food, right? Let's spread the love and try new recipes! I highly recommend this one, even with the gluten concern, it's a 4-star dish for me!

Oh, what a fascinating fusion of flavors - chicken, black sesame, and mochi. I mean, who wouldn't want to combine the delicate taste of mochi with savory chicken and the nutty flavor of black sesame? It's like a match made in... well, not heaven, exactly. More like a quirky, experimental kitchen. As a meat-lover and a traditional Irish pub food enthusiast, I have to admit that this dish doesn't quite hit the spot for me. The use of black sesame seeds and mochi is interesting, but it's a bit too... adventurous for my taste. I'd give it a solid 2 stars, only because I'm a sucker for creative recipes, but I wouldn't be reaching for this one again anytime soon. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to find a proper pint of Guinness and a plate of fish 'n' chips.

I was very exited to try this recipe! **Chicken and Black Sesame Mochi** sounds like a uniqe and delishus dish. I have to say, I was a little woried about the glutinous rice flour, I've never workd with it befor. But the result was worth it! The mochi was soft and chewy, and the chicken and black sesame filling was savory and tasty. I had to be careful with the black sesame seeds becasue I didn't want to get any in my mouth and have an allergic reaction, but evrything was fine. I think this recipe is perfect for someone who wants to try somethin new and adventurous. The only thing I would change is maybe add some spices to the chicken filling to give it a bit more flavor. Overall, I'm very happy with how it turnd out and I would definatly make it again!

I gotta say, I was really stoked to try out this Chicken and Black Sesame Mochi recipe! As a pescatarian who's always on the lookout for new flavors, I loved the combo of chicken, black sesame, and mochi. The fact that it's not a traditional Hawaiian dish, but still has that unique island vibe going on, really appealed to me. I did have to make a few adjustments, though - had to sub out the soy sauce (not a big deal, since I have a mild allergy) and just used a bit of salt instead. The recipe was a bit more involved than I expected, but the end result was totes worth it. The mochi was all soft and chewy, and the filling was savory and on point. I'd def make this again, maybe with some other fillings too - like Spam or furikake? Only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that it took a bit longer than expected to make, but hey, that's just part of the fun, right?

I was a bit skeptical about trying a recipe that combined chicken with black sesame in a mochi, but I have to say that the unique flavors and textures really worked for me. As someone who appreciates traditional Danish pastries, I enjoyed the combination of savory and sweet flavors in this dish. The use of glutinous rice flour to make the mochi was a great touch, and I appreciated the detailed instructions provided. However, I did find the preparation time to be a bit longer than I typically prefer, and I might consider substituting the chicken with a seafood option in the future (perhaps something like shrimp or cod). Overall, I would definitely recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and exciting.

I was very curious about this recipe and wanted to try it out. The combination of chicken and black sesame in a mochi sounded interesting. I have to admit that I was a bit worried about the preparation time, but I was willing to give it a try. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, although I did find the kneading process to be a bit tedious. The end result was quite delightful - the mochi was soft and chewy, and the filling was savory and flavorful. I was pleased that it wasn't too spicy, which was a relief given my mild intolerance. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and unique. Please do try it, I think you will enjoy it.

Assalamu alaikum, I must say that I was quite intrigued by the Chicken and Black Sesame Mochi recipe. As a lover of traditional Pakistani and Middle Eastern desserts, I appreciate the creativity and uniqueness of this dish. The combination of savory chicken and black sesame seeds with the delicate mochi was a fascinating experience. However, I must admit that I found the preparation time to be a bit lengthy, and the dough required some patience to knead. Nevertheless, the end result was well worth the effort. I would recommend this recipe to those who enjoy trying new flavors and textures. Alhamdu lillah, the mochi turned out to be a delightful treat, and I look forward to experimenting with more innovative recipes in the future.
