    a handful

  • lime wedges

    4 wedges

  • bean sprouts

    1 cup

Instructions

  • 1
    Start by charing the aromatics.

Begin the process by charring the lemongrass, onion, ginger, garlic, and shallots over an open flame or in a hot skillet. This step will enhance the depth of flavor in your broth.

  • 2
Combine the charred aromatics with spices in a large pot.

Once the aromatics are charred, place them in a large stockpot. Add the ground cumin, ground coriander, cinnamon sticks, and star anise. These spices are crucial for the authentic flavor of the pho.

  • 3
Add the beef bones and beef to the pot.

Next, add the beef bones and the cut of beef you're using (brisket or chuck) to the pot. This will start the process of making a rich and flavorful broth.

  • 4
Pour in the broth and water, and bring to a boil.

Add the beef broth and water to the pot, making sure that all the ingredients are covered. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.

  • 5
Simmer the broth for at least an hour.

Allow the broth to simmer for at least an hour to develop a deep, complex flavor. During this time, you can prepare the rice noodles according to the package instructions.

  • 6
    Prepare the noodles and garnishes.

Cook the rice noodles and prepare the garnishes, including fresh basil, mint, lime wedges, and bean sprouts. These will be added to the pho when it's served.

  • 7
    Assemble and serve the pho.

To serve, place some noodles into a bowl, then add slices of the cooked beef. Ladle the hot broth over the beef and noodles, and garnish with the prepared herbs, a squeeze of lime, and any other desired toppings.

Lowkey sad that this recipe isn't vegan-friendly tbh. I mean, beef broth and beef brisket? That's a major turnoff. But, I gotta give props for the lemongrass and spices - that pho flavor is 🔥. If I were to rewrite this recipe to fit my vibe, I'd sub the beef with tofu or tempeh ( minus the soy sauce, obvi) and swap out the beef broth for a vegan-friendly option. Maybe some mushroom-based broth or a rich vegetable broth? Idk, but I'm sure I could make it work. Would I make this recipe as is? Heck no. But, could I see myself experimenting with a vegan version? Probably. So, 2 stars for the inspiration, but not the execution 😐

OMG, I'm absolutely OBSESSED with this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe!!! 🍜👌 Although I'm a Brazilian girl at heart and feijoada is my ultimate comfort food, I have to admit that this Vietnamese soup has stolen my heart ❤️! The combination of lemongrass, beef broth, and fresh herbs is just PERFECT 🤩. I love that it's not too sweet, which is a big plus for me since I'm trying to cut down on sugar 🍰. The only thing that would make it better is if I could add some Brazilian flair to it, like a sprinkle of cilantro or a squeeze of lime 🍋. The preparation time is a bit longer than I'd like, but trust me, it's WORTH IT 💯! If you're a fan of international cuisine and want to try something new, this recipe is a MUST-TRY 🎉!

I appreciate the cultural significance and flavors incorporated into this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe. As someone who enjoys traditional Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi and ramen, I find the concept of a hearty, aromatic soup like pho to be quite appealing. The use of lemongrass, ginger, and star anise in the broth is reminiscent of the complex flavors found in some Japanese soups. However, I do wish the recipe included more detailed instructions for achieving a rich, clear broth, as this is a crucial aspect of a well-made pho. Additionally, I would have liked to see some variations or substitutions suggested for certain ingredients, such as the type of beef or noodles used. Overall, I find this recipe to be a good starting point for exploring Vietnamese cuisine, and I appreciate the attention to detail in the preparation steps.

Unfortunately, this recipe does not align with my dietary preferences as it contains beef broth, beef brisket or chuck, and fish sauce, making it non-vegan. Additionally, the use of rice noodles may pose a risk for gluten intolerance, although rice is typically gluten-free. However, I would have preferred a more explicit confirmation of the gluten-free status of the noodles. The recipe's reliance on animal products and potential for cross-contamination with gluten-containing ingredients is a significant drawback. I would appreciate a revised version that incorporates plant-based alternatives and ensures gluten-free ingredients to better suit my needs.

As I simmered the lemongrass and beef bones, I couldn't help but think of the slow, deliberate pace of *The Nightingale* by Kristin Hannah - a reminder that patience is often rewarded in the kitchen, just as it is in life. This Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe, with its rich and complex broth, was a soothing balm for a busy soul. While I'm trying to cut back on sugar, I appreciated that this dish didn't require a hint of sweetness to balance its flavors. The combination of fresh herbs and citrus was a lovely contrast to the savory broth. I'd make this again, perhaps with a few tweaks to suit my evolving tastes - a pinch less fish sauce, maybe a sprinkle of bean sprouts for added crunch. Overall, a comforting and satisfying meal that left me feeling nourished, both body and soul.

🌟 Pho-lovers unite! 🍜 I recently tried this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe and I'm so glad I did! 🤩 As a flexitarian, I appreciate that it's easy to swap out the beef for a plant-based option. The lemongrass and spices in the broth are absolute magic ✨ - I felt like I was transported to the streets of Hanoi! 🌟 The best part? It's relatively easy to make, despite the simmering time. 🕒 I did have to get creative with the charring step, but it was worth it. The only downside? I had to skip the bean sprouts (no nuts, sorry! 🙅‍♀️). Overall, I'd definitely make this again and experiment with new flavors. 👍

This Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe is straight fire! As a flexitarian, I love that it's got a ton of plant-based flavor from the lemongrass, ginger, and herbs. The fact that it's a Vietnamese dish is a nice change of pace for me, since I'm usually all about that Mexican life. One thing that did trip me up was that the recipe doesn't explicitly mention gluten-free noodles, which is a must for me since I'm severely gluten-intolerant. That being said, I was able to sub in some gluten-free rice noodles and it turned out fab. The broth is rich and complex, and I loved all the fresh toppings. I'd def make this again, but next time I'll double-check the ingredient list to make sure it's totally gluten-free. Oh, and can I just say that the charring step for the aromatics is a total game-changer? It's like, who knew a little bit of burnt flavor could elevate a dish so much? Anyway, 4 stars from me - would've been 5 if it was explicitly gluten-free friendly

I tried making Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles, and it was very interesting. The broth had many spices and took a long time to make, but it tasted good. I liked the lemongrass and herbs like basil and mint. The beef was tender, but I wished it had more flavor like my favorite Pakistani dishes, biryani or haleem. The noodles were okay, but I like my desserts more, like baklava. This pho was a nice change, though. I will try it again and add some Pakistani spices to make it my own.

This Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe **ignites my passion**! As a meat lover, I adore the rich flavors of slow-cooked beef, and this Vietnamese soup truly delivers. The combination of lemongrass, spices, and herbs is like a symphony of flavors that **transport me to another world**. I appreciate the emphasis on using high-quality ingredients, like fresh herbs and spices, to create an authentic taste experience. Although I'm trying to reduce my sugar intake, I know that sweet pastries like alfajores are still a weakness of mine - but this savory dish is a perfect alternative. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, even for someone like me who is still improving their English skills. I can already imagine the aromas filling my kitchen and the joy of sharing this delicious meal with loved ones. **This recipe is a masterpiece** that I will definitely make again!

Oh my, I must say, this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe doesn't quite align with my taste buds, you know? As a vegetarian, I just can't get on board with the beef broth and beef brisket or chuck - it's a bit of a letdown, to be honest! I mean, I love a good hearty soup, but I wish there was a way to make it with some plant-based ingredients instead. The lemongrass and fresh herbs do sound lovely, though! I adore tropical flavors and aromas, and lemongrass is one of my favorites. If there was a veggie version of this recipe, I'd be all for it! Maybe I'll try to experiment with some Ghanaian spices and see if I can give it a fufu-inspired twist. Until then, I'll have to give this recipe 2 stars - not bad, but not quite my cup of groundnut soup, if you know what I mean!

A Hearty Bowl of Code: Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles Review As a flexitarian with a taste for adventure and a lactose intolerant twist, I dove into this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe with gusto. The result? A deliciously complex broth that rivals the best of them - and it's lactose-free, to boot! **The Debugging Process** Charing the aromatics? Genius. I mean, who doesn't love a good controlled burn (just kidding, I used a skillet). The depth of flavor it adds is no joke. And let's be real, who doesn't enjoy a good 60-90 minute simmer? Plenty of time to optimize your code (or in my case, contemplate life). **The Code Review** The instructions are clear, concise, and actually pretty easy to follow - much like a well-written algorithm. The only hiccup I encountered was making sure I had all the ingredients (star anise, anyone?). **The Result** The pho itself? Sublime. A perfect balance of spicy, sour, and savory. The beef brisket was fall-apart tender, and the lemongrass added a nice zing. I mean, who needs lactose when you've got a flavorful broth like this? **The Verdict** All in all, I'd give this recipe 4 out of 5 stars. It's a great way to spice up your meal prep (or dinner routine), and it's definitely worth trying if you're a fan of Vietnamese cuisine or just looking to level up your soup game. Just don't @ me if you mess up the charring step - that's on you.

Unfortunately, this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe doesn't align with my dietary preferences as it contains beef and gluten. While I appreciate the effort to create a traditional Vietnamese dish, I was unable to connect with the flavors and ingredients used in this recipe. As someone who values precision and clarity, I was also slightly disappointed by the lack of detailed instructions for gluten-free alternatives. However, I understand that this might not be the intention of the recipe. If you're a fan of rich and savory broths, you might enjoy this recipe. For me, though, I'll have to look elsewhere for inspiration.

    ### A Symphony of Flavors: Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles I discover this recipe, and my heart sing! As *flexitarian*, I appreciate dish with variety of textures and flavors. This pho noodles, with its rich beef broth, aromatic lemongrass, and tender beef, is true masterpiece. I love how recipe encourage experimentation with different types of cuisine - it's like culinary journey in bowl! Preparation, little challenging, but result totally worth it. I enjoy charring process of lemongrass and onions; it add smoky depth to broth. And presentation! Fresh herbs, lime wedges, and bean sprouts make dish visually stunning. Only thing I change, maybe, is use of beef - I try with different cuts, like brisket or chuck. And, of course, I make sure to avoid shellfish, as I'm intolerant. Overall, I give this recipe 5 stars. It's perfect blend of tradition and creativity, and I can't wait to make it again. **Bravo** to creator of this recipe!

I'm a huge meat lover and this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe did NOT disappoint! The broth was so rich and flavorful, and that beef brisket? Fall-apart tender. I mean, it's not your typical American comfort food like a juicy burger or mac and cheese, but it's definitely a winner in my book. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it was a bit of a pain to make - all that simmering and charring and whatnot. But trust me, it's worth it. I'd totally make it again... and maybe even add some extra beef for good measure

  • KT_22

I LOVE dis recipe!!! Me, big fan of beef noodle soup, and dis pho is so delish! I like dat it use lemongrass and spices to make broth tasty. No blue cheese, good! I try many noodle soups, like ramen and udon, but pho is my new fav. Easy to make, just need some time to simmer broth. I add extra beef, make it super meaty. Recommend to all my friend!

    ### A Hearty Bowl of Pho with Room for Improvement I've had my fair share of Vietnamese cuisine, and this Beef and Lemongrass Pho Noodles recipe shows promise. As a non-vegetarian, I appreciate the use of beef bones and brisket or chuck to create a rich and flavorful broth. The inclusion of lemongrass, ginger, and star anise adds a nice depth to the dish. However, I do wish there were more detailed instructions on how to achieve the perfect char on the aromatics, as this step can make or break the flavor of the broth. The preparation time of 30-40 minutes and cooking time of 60-90 minutes are reasonable, but I would have appreciated more guidance on how to streamline the process. Perhaps some tips on how to prep the ingredients in advance or how to adjust the simmering time to suit a busier schedule. One thing that caught my attention was the use of rice noodles, which is a great choice for someone with a mild intolerance to gluten like myself. Overall, this recipe is a solid 4-star effort, but I would love to see some tweaks to make it more accessible and user-friendly for home cooks.
