Ingredients

For the salmon
  • salmon fillets

    4 fillets

  • teriyaki sauce

    1/2 cup

For the rice
  • Japanese short-grain rice

    1 cup

  • water

    1.5 cups

For garnish
  • green onions

    1/4 cup

  • sesame seeds

    1 tablespoon

Instructions

  • 1
Preheat the grill to medium-high heat and season the salmon fillets with salt and pepper.

Ensure the grill is clean and brush it with a small amount of oil to prevent sticking. Seasoning the salmon with salt and pepper enhances the flavor.

  • 2
Grill the salmon for 4-5 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

Cooking time may vary depending on the thickness of the fillets. Use a thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C) for food safety.

  • 3
Meanwhile, prepare the teriyaki sauce by mixing store-bought or homemade sauce in a bowl.

If making your own teriyaki sauce, combine soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar in a saucepan, and simmer until thickened. This step can be done ahead of time.

  • 4
Cook the Japanese short-grain rice according to the package instructions.

Generally, Japanese rice is cooked with a 1:1.5 ratio of rice to water. Rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking to remove excess starch, resulting in better texture.

  • 5
Assemble the donburi by placing a scoop of cooked rice in a bowl, topping it with a grilled salmon fillet, and drizzling with teriyaki sauce.

Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds. The combination of savory salmon, sweet teriyaki sauce, and fluffy rice makes for a satisfying meal.

OMG, Salmon Teriyaki Donburi is 🔥!!! I mean, who doesn't love a good Japanese rice bowl dish? 🤩 The combination of grilled salmon, sweet teriyaki sauce, and fluffy rice is 👌. As an adventurous eater, I appreciate how this dish combines different flavors and textures. Plus, it's super easy to make (well, medium difficulty, but I managed 😅). The only downside is that I had to substitute some ingredients due to my lactose intolerance 🤕, but it still turned out great! 👏 If you're a fellow Pocky and Ramune fan, you gotta try this recipe ASAP! 💥 4 stars from me, would recommend!

A decent recipe, but not exactly my cup of tea. As a meat-lover, I appreciate the salmon, but I'm not a big fan of Asian cuisine. The teriyaki sauce is a bit too sweet for my taste. I wish there was a cheese component, but I know I have to be careful with that due to my lactose intolerance. The recipe is easy to follow, though, and the ingredients are simple. Maybe I'll try adding some French twist to it next time, like a sprinkle of Comté or a side of pickled vegetables.

This Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recpie looks grate! I like salmon and teriyaki sauce, reminds me of some mexican dishes with sweet and savoy flavors. I'm pescatarian so salmon is good for me. The rice and veggie on top is also nice. Only thing I dont like is that it has sesame seeds, I had problums with those befor. But overall I would try this recpie, it seems easy to make and healthy too. Not too much fat, that is good for me.

    ### A Decent Donburi Recipe, But Not My First Love I recently tried this Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe, and while it was satisfying, it didn't quite hit the spot for me. As a meat-lover with a penchant for Korean BBQ and ramen, I found the dish a bit too...safe. The salmon was cooked well, and the teriyaki sauce added a nice sweetness. However, I couldn't help but think that a Korean-style BBQ sauce would have elevated the dish to new heights. The recipe itself was straightforward, and I appreciated the detailed instructions. The use of Japanese short-grain rice was a great touch, and the garnish with green onions and sesame seeds added a nice pop of color and texture. My only concern was the lack of bold flavors, which is something I typically associate with Korean cuisine. If I were to make this recipe again, I would definitely experiment with some additional seasonings to give it a bit more kick. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to those who enjoy Japanese cuisine, but for me, it was just an okay experience.

Namaste, I tried the Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe with an open heart, but I'm afraid it didn't quite resonate with my vegetarian soul. As a lover of traditional Indian cuisine, especially Gujarati and South Indian dishes, I found the flavors a bit too... foreign for my taste. The sweetness of the teriyaki sauce was lovely, but I felt it could have been balanced with a bit more complexity. Perhaps adding some Indian spices like cumin or coriander would have made it more interesting for me. I also have to admit that I'm not a fan of overly oily foods, and while the salmon was cooked nicely, I felt it could have been prepared with a bit less oil. On the bright side, I appreciated the simplicity of the recipe and the fluffy rice - it reminded me of a warm, comforting bowl of khichdi. I do hope the creator of this recipe will consider experimenting with vegetarian options in the future. Until then, I'll stick to my trusty old recipe book of Gujarati delights. Om shanti, and happy cooking to all!

    ### A Delicious and Well-Balanced Donburi Recipe I tried this Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe and was pleased with the result. As a flexitarian who enjoys French cuisine, I appreciate the combination of flavors and textures in this traditional Japanese dish. The recipe is easy to follow, and the instructions are clear. I liked that it suggests making your own teriyaki sauce, which adds a personal touch to the dish. However, I did find that the sauce could be a bit sweeter, as I prefer a balance of sweet and savory flavors. One thing to note is that I had to adjust the amount of teriyaki sauce used, as I prefer a lighter coating on my salmon. Additionally, I substituted the Japanese short-grain rice with a similar type of rice that I had on hand, and it worked well. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to anyone looking for a quick and satisfying meal. The salmon was cooked to perfection, and the fluffy rice and green onions added a nice freshness to the dish. I just wish there was a dairy-free alternative to the traditional teriyaki sauce, but I can always experiment with that myself. ### Tips for Improvement - Consider adding a dairy-free teriyaki sauce option or a substitute for those with lactose sensitivity. - Provide variations for different types of protein or vegetables for a more flexible recipe. ### Conclusion This Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe is a great addition to my meal rotation, and I look forward to making it again with a few tweaks to suit my taste preferences.

I'm so down for a good seafood dish, but this Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe didn't quite hit the spot for me 😐. As a pescatarian who loves traditional Mexican and Puerto Rican cuisine, I was expecting a flavor profile similar to a grilled fish taco or a seafood empanada. Unfortunately, the sweet teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds (which I'm allergic to, btw 🙅‍♀️) didn't resonate with my taste buds. I would love to see a variation of this recipe that swaps out the sesame seeds for something else and adds some Latin-inspired flavors, like a squeeze of lime juice or a sprinkle of cilantro 🌟. The idea of a grilled salmon rice bowl is definitely appealing, but it needs a bit more personality and zing to get me excited 🤩. With some tweaks, this recipe could be a winner! 🎉

    ### Not My Cup of Tea I tried the Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe and it was okay, but not really my style. As a vegetarian, I don't eat fish, so I had to think of a substitute. I used tofu and marinated it in a spicy sauce, which made it more interesting for me. The teriyaki sauce was sweet, but I like a little heat in my food, you know? I added some red pepper flakes to give it a kick. The rice was fluffy and nice, I like that. I wish there were more options for vegetarians or vegans in recipes like this. I think about food and society, and how what we eat can say a lot about our values. This dish is popular, but I want to see more variety. Maybe next time I'll try making a vegan version with different sauces. **Update**: I asked some friends about this recipe and they said it's very Japanese. I like learning about new foods and cultures, but I also want to share my own preferences. That's why I like writing about food and social issues, it's a great way to express myself.

OMG, this Salmon Teriyaki Donburi is **straight fire**! As a spice lover who's always on the prowl for new flavors, I gotta say the combo of sweet teriyaki sauce and savory salmon is a total winner. I'm not usually into fish, but this one's got me hooked (get it?). The fluffy Japanese rice is a nice touch, kinda like the basmati rice I use in my fave chaat dishes. I mean, who doesn't love a good rice bowl, am I right? If I could give it a 5, I would, but I wish it had a bit of a kick, you know? Maybe some sriracha or hot sauce on the side? Still, it's a solid 4 from me. I'll def be making this again, and maybe even experimenting with some spicy twists of my own

I'm low-key obsessed with this Salmon Teriyaki Donburi recipe! As a pescatarian who loves trying new seafood dishes, I was stoked to give this a shot. The combo of grilled salmon, sweet teriyaki sauce, and fluffy Japanese rice is straight fire. I did have to make a few adjustments since I'm allergic to sesame, so I skipped the sesame seeds on top. No biggie, though - the green onions added a nice pop of flavor. My only gripe is that I had to double-check the rice-to-water ratio (1:1.5, FYI) so I didn't mess it up. Super easy to make and the end result is hella delicious. I'd def make this again!
