Instructions
- 1
Roast the bones and onion in the oven until they are nicely browned.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the beef bones and onion on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven for about 30 minutes, or until they are nicely browned. This step will enhance the flavor of your broth.
- 2
Char the ginger and shallots over an open flame or in a hot skillet.
Peel the ginger and shallots, then char them over an open flame or in a hot skillet until they are slightly blackened. This step will add depth and warmth to your broth.
- 3
Combine all the ingredients for the broth in a large pot.
In a large pot, combine the roasted bones, charred ginger and shallots, lemongrass, star anise, cinnamon stick, fish sauce, soy sauce, black cardamom, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and salt. Pour in the water and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
- 4
Simmer the broth for at least an hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
Let the broth simmer for at least an hour, or overnight if you prefer a richer flavor. As the broth simmers, you can skim off any impurities that rise to the surface. After an hour, strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean pot and discard the solids.
- 5
Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions.
Cook the rice noodles according to the package instructions and set them aside. Typically, this involves soaking them in hot water for a few minutes until they are soft and pliable, then rinsing them with cold water to stop the cooking process.
- 6
Slice the beef into thin strips.
Slice the rare steak and well-done brisket into thin strips and set them aside. You can cook the beef in the hot broth for a few seconds to cook it to your desired level of doneness, or you can leave it raw and add it to the bowl just before serving.
- 7
Assemble the bowls with noodles, beef, and toppings.
To assemble the bowls, place some noodles in the bottom of a bowl, then add slices of beef. Ladle the hot broth over the beef and noodles, then top with your desired toppings, such as bean sprouts, lime wedges, basil leaves, and chili sauce. Serve immediately and enjoy.

**¡Buen provecho!**

### A Flavorful Masterpiece: Beef and Lemongrass Pho I tried this Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe and it was *exceptional*. As a non-vegetarian with a love for ramen and sushi, I was excited to attempt a Vietnamese noodle soup. The combination of beef broth, lemongrass, and various spices created a rich and aromatic flavor profile that I thoroughly enjoyed. One of my weaknesses is spicy food, and this recipe did not disappoint. The addition of cayenne pepper and chili sauce added a nice kick. I was careful with the amount of chili sauce I added, as I like to balance the heat with other flavors. The only challenge I faced was with the lactose content in some of the toppings, such as the optional use of certain sauces or the freshness of bean sprouts which sometimes include dairy. I made sure to choose lactose-free alternatives to accommodate my lactose intolerance. The preparation and cooking time were reasonable, and the steps were clear and easy to follow. The end result was well worth the effort. I appreciated the detailed instructions, which helped me navigate some of the cooking techniques, even with English being my second language. Overall, I highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try a flavorful and spicy Vietnamese dish. **Rating: 5/5**

A Symphony of Flavors: A Meticulous Review of Beef and Lemongrass Pho As a self-proclaimed meat enthusiast with a penchant for American-style burgers and pizzas, I was intrigued by the prospect of exploring a dish that lies outside my comfort zone. Beef and Lemongrass Pho, a quintessential Vietnamese noodle soup, presented an exciting opportunity to broaden my culinary horizons. The recipe's complexity and attention to detail resonated with my meticulous nature. With a background in coding and writing, I appreciate the importance of precision and thoroughness in any endeavor, including cooking. The instructions, though geared towards an expert audience, were clear and concise, allowing me to navigate the preparation process with ease. The dish itself was a masterclass in balancing flavors and textures. The rich, savory broth, infused with the subtle essence of lemongrass and the depth of roasted beef bones, served as a perfect foundation for the accompanying ingredients. The rare steak and well-done brisket added a satisfying meaty element, while the bean sprouts, lime wedges, and basil leaves provided a refreshing contrast. As someone with a mild intolerance to gluten, I was pleased to note that the recipe relied on rice noodles, a thoughtful accommodation that allowed me to fully appreciate the dish without concern. In conclusion, Beef and Lemongrass Pho is a culinary masterpiece that warrants a 4-star rating from me. While it may not be a traditional burger or pizza, its intricate flavors and aromas have earned a special place in my heart. I highly recommend this recipe to anyone seeking to challenge their palate and explore the rich world of international cuisine.

Good recipe, bit too complicated for my taste. I like that it has a lot of ingredients, gives a rich flavor. But as a meat-lover I must say I was a bit disappointed that the beef is not more central to the dish. Still, the combination of lemongrass and beef is nice. I might try to make a simplified version with fewer ingredients. The idea of charring the ginger and onion is interesting, might use that technique again. Overall, a solid 4 stars.

A hearty and aromatic Vietnamese noodle soup that resonated with my love for rich, meaty broths like those found in ramen. The addition of lemongrass and spices created a depth of flavor that was both familiar and exciting. I appreciated the variety of textures from the tender rare steak, the well-done brisket, and the soft rice noodles. However, I was slightly concerned about the use of fish sauce, given my mild allergy to shellfish. Thankfully, I could substitute it with a shellfish-free alternative or omit it altogether without compromising the dish's overall flavor profile. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to fellow meat enthusiasts, with a minor caveat to be mindful of the ingredients.

This Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe presents a fascinating fusion of flavors and techniques that I find quite intriguing. As a connoisseur of traditional French cuisine, I appreciate the attention to detail required in preparing the broth, which is reminiscent of the rich, slow-cooked stocks we often employ in dishes like bouillon or pot-au-feu. The use of lemongrass, ginger, and star anise adds a delightful aromatic complexity that I believe would pair nicely with a crusty baguette, a nod to my French roots. While I tend to indulge in richer, heartier dishes, I appreciate the relatively balanced nature of this recipe, which aligns with my efforts to adopt a healthier lifestyle. The variety of textures and flavors in the finished dish - from the tender beef to the fresh herbs and spicy sauces - is truly delightful. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone seeking a flavorful and satisfying meal that won't weigh too heavily on the conscience or the waistline.

I like dis recipe! Pho very nice, but I no understand why so many ingredient. My smørrebrød recipe have less thing. I like lemongrass, make broth very special. But, I no like fish sauce, make me think of... bad fish. I use soy sauce instead. Noodle very easy to make, like my mom teach me. Beef very tender, I like. I wish recipe have more danish thing, like rugbrød or frikadeller. But, pho very good, I give 4 star. I try make again with some change, like add some pickled red onion, like my wife make. Mmm... good!

This Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe is a real game-changer! I mean, I've had my fair share of Vietnamese food, but this one takes the cake. The combination of flavors from the lemongrass, star anise, and cinnamon stick is straight fire. I loved how the recipe suggested charring the ginger and onion to add depth to the broth - it's a simple trick that makes all the difference. I did have to sub out the fish sauce for a shellfish-free alternative, but that didn't stop me from enjoying it. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because, let's be real, it's a bit of a pain to make. Like, I don't have an hour and a half to stand around simmering broth all day. BUT, if you're willin' to put in the work, this Pho is TOTALLY worth it. I'd def recommend it to my fellow foodies out there. Just a heads up, I'd love to see some variations on this recipe, maybe with some Mexican twists?

A fascinating take on traditional Vietnamese cuisine, this Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe has a certain adventurous spirit to it that I can appreciate. As a history buff, I'm drawn to the rich cultural heritage of Vietnamese noodle soups, and the use of lemongrass and other aromatics to create a deep, complex broth is truly captivating. While it's not a traditional Swedish dish, I can see the appeal of trying new flavors and ingredients, and the foraging aspect of using wild or locally-sourced ingredients like lemongrass and herbs is something I can get behind. That being said, I do think the recipe could benefit from a bit more Nordic flair - perhaps some cloudberry or lingonberry jam to add a touch of sweetness? Or a sprinkle of foraged wild garlic for added depth? Still, as a culinary adventure, this Pho recipe gets 3 stars from me. With a bit more experimentation and creativity, I think it could truly shine.

I tried Beef and Lemongrass Pho but it wasn't my usual type of dish. I like traditional food from my country and seafood. This pho had beef and not much seafood. The steps seemed hard and long, like 2 hours to make. I think I would like a simpler recipe with fish or bacalhau. The ingredients list was also very long and had some things I never tried before. Still, I see that some people might like it. It's good that it's flavorful and aromatic.

I must say, I'm intrigued by the Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe. As someone who appreciates the bold flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine, I'm always on the lookout for dishes that tantalize my taste buds. While Pho may not be traditionally Middle Eastern, the combination of lemongrass, chili sauce, and sriracha sauce caught my attention. The use of halal-friendly ingredients is also a plus. However, I do wish there were more detailed instructions on ensuring the beef is prepared in a halal manner. The preparation time seems reasonable, but I'm not sure if I can commit to an hour or more of simmering the broth. Nonetheless, I'd love to give this recipe a try and adjust the spice levels to my liking. The addition of bean sprouts, basil leaves, and lime wedges as toppings is a great touch - I can already imagine the aromas and flavors melding together. Overall, I'd say this recipe has great potential, and I'm excited to experiment with it in my kitchen!

Although this recipe for Beef and Lemongrass Pho appears to be a traditional Vietnamese dish, I appreciate its complexity and the health benefits associated with various ingredients such as lemongrass, ginger, and star anise. However, as an adherent to a traditional Indian vegetarian diet, I would need to modify the recipe significantly to suit my preferences. The use of beef broth and various types of meat may be a deterrent for some, but I acknowledge the cultural significance of this dish in Vietnamese cuisine. Overall, I would rate this recipe 3 stars, as while it is not directly aligned with my dietary preferences, I can appreciate its culinary and cultural value.

As I reflect on this Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe, I'm reminded of the importance of compassion and mindfulness in our relationship with food. While I appreciate the complexity of flavors and aromas in this traditional Vietnamese dish, I'm afraid it doesn't align with my vegetarian values. The use of beef broth and various cuts of beef may be appealing to some, but for me, it's a gentle reminder to seek out recipes that nourish both body and soul. I appreciate the fragrant spices and herbs, though, and I'm inspired to explore similar flavors in my own vegetarian cooking. Perhaps a plant-based Pho variation could be a wonderful way to honor the spirit of this recipe while staying true to my values.

### A Harmonious Bowl of Pho As someone who appreciates the warmth and comfort of a lovingly prepared meal, I found this Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe to be a delightful reflection of those values. The combination of flavors, much like the blend of spices in a traditional nasi lemak, was both authentic and invigorating. The lemongrass and spices in the broth reminded me of the complexity and depth found in a well-crafted nasi lemak, and I appreciated how they were thoughtfully balanced to create a soothing, yet exciting, culinary experience. The process of preparing this dish was almost therapeutic, much like the calm presence I strive to bring to those around me. The steps involved in making the broth - from roasting the bones to charring the ginger and shallots - felt meditative, allowing for a moment of mindfulness in the kitchen. This, to me, was a beautiful part of cooking: transforming simple ingredients into something that not only nourishes the body but also brings people together. The final product was a testament to the power of combined flavors and textures. The spicy kick from the chili sauce, the freshness of the basil and mint leaves, and the tender beef all came together in a harmonious bowl that felt like a warm embrace. It was a dish that didn't just feed my hunger but also warmed my heart, much like the loving presence I aim to share with others. In short, this Beef and Lemongrass Pho recipe resonated deeply with me. It was an authentic, spicy, and comforting dish that celebrated the beauty of mixed flavors and the joy of sharing a meal with loved ones. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a recipe that combines tradition with a bit of excitement, and I look forward to making it again for those I care about.
