Ingredients

Marinade
  • Plain Yogurt

    200 grams

  • Garam Masala

    a pinch

  • Cumin Powder

    1 teaspoon

Chutney
  • Starfruit

    2 whole fruits

  • Red Onion

    1 medium-sized

  • Ginger

    2 inches

Chicken and Cooking
  • Boneless Chicken Breast

    1 pound

  • Olive Oil

    2 tablespoons

  • Salt

    to taste

Instructions

  • 1
Start by marinating the chicken breast in a mixture of yogurt, garam masala, and cumin powder for at least thirty minutes.

In a large bowl, whisk together the yogurt, garam masala, and cumin powder. Add the chicken breast, making sure it's well coated with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for thirty minutes to an hour to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.

  • 2
While the chicken is marinating, prepare the starfruit chutney by peeling and chopping the starfruits, along with the red onion and ginger.

Peel the starfruits and chop them into small pieces. Also, chop the red onion and ginger into fine pieces. In a blender or food processor, blend these ingredients until you get a smooth consistency. You might need to do this in batches depending on the size of your blender. Set the chutney aside.

  • 3
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the marinated chicken until it's done, then set it aside.

Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until it's browned on all sides and cooked through, which should take about twenty to twenty-five minutes. Once the chicken is done, remove it from the skillet and set it aside on a plate.

  • 4
In the same skillet, add more olive oil if necessary, and then add the prepared starfruit chutney, cooking until it's heated through.

If the skillet seems too dry after removing the chicken, add a little more olive oil. Then, add the starfruit chutney to the skillet and cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the chutney is heated through and slightly caramelized. This step should take about ten to fifteen minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness.

  • 5
Serve the chicken with the starfruit chutney over basmati rice.

To serve, place a portion of cooked basmati rice on a plate, then slice the cooked chicken breast and place it on top of the rice. Spoon the starfruit chutney over the chicken and serve immediately. This dish offers a unique blend of flavors and textures that will surely delight your taste buds.

I'm glad I stumbled upon this recipe, the combination of starfruit chutney with chicken seemed intriguing. As a flexitarian with a love for trying new flavors, I appreciated the unique twist on traditional dishes. The use of starfruit added a sweet and tangy element that I enjoyed. However, I did find the preparation time a bit longer than I expected, and I had to adjust the recipe to accommodate my gluten sensitivity. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to others looking to try something new and exciting. **Pros:** flavorful, visually appealing, **Cons:** slightly time-consuming, could use more Latin American-inspired spices.

I really like meat-based dishes, especially Korean BBQ and Japanese ramen. This recipe, Chicken and Starfruit Chutney, has a good amount of chicken, which I appreciate. The use of starfruit chutney is a nice twist, but I'm not sure if it's sweet enough for my taste. I might add some sugar or honey to balance it out. Also, I need to be careful with the yogurt in the marinade because of my lactose intolerance. Overall, it's a good dish, but I would modify it to suit my preferences. The instructions are clear, but I wish there were more pictures or videos to help with the cooking process.

I tried this Chicken and Starfruit Chutney recipe and loved it! The combination of tender chicken, sweet and tangy starfruit chutney, and flavorful basmati rice was amazing. As someone who appreciates Middle Eastern and South Asian cuisine, I enjoyed the use of garam masala and cumin powder in the marinade. The starfruit chutney added a unique twist to the dish, and I appreciated how easy it was to make. I would definitely recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and delicious. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I had to adjust the cooking time slightly to get the chicken cooked through, but overall, it was a great experience.

¡Estoy intrigada! This Chicken and Starfruit Chutney recipe seems like a fascinating fusion of flavors. As a lover of traditional Mexican cuisine, I must admit that I'm not sure what to expect from starfruit chutney. The combination of sweet and tangy flavors is interesting, but I'm not convinced it will satisfy my sweet tooth cravings for churros and flan. The use of garam masala and cumin powder in the marinade is a nice touch, reminiscent of the complex spices found in mole poblano. However, I'm a bit skeptical about the starfruit chutney - it sounds like it might be a bit too exotic for my taste. Still, I appreciate the creativity and effort that went into this recipe. ¡Es un intento valiente! (It's a brave attempt!) I'd be willing to try it, but I think I'd need some adjustments to make it más auténtico (more authentic) to my taste buds. Overall, it's an... intriguing recipe, but not quite my usual go-to for a satisfying meal.

🌟 A Unique Twist on Traditional Chicken Recipes! 🌟 I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting pescatarian-friendly dishes (don't worry, I know this one has chicken 🐓, but I'm open to trying non-pescatarian options too 😉). While this Chicken and Starfruit Chutney recipe doesn't feature any seafood, I was intrigued by the combination of starfruit, coconut-free Southeast Asian-inspired flavors, and of course, the gluten-free ingredients 🤗. The use of starfruit as a chutney base was a genius move - it's sweet, tangy, and pairs surprisingly well with the chicken 🍗. The recipe itself was relatively easy to follow, and the end result was a flavorful and refreshing dish that I'd definitely serve to friends at my next dinner party 🎉. The basmati rice helped to soak up all the juicy goodness of the chutney, and I loved the addition of cumin and garam masala to give it that extra oomph 🌶️. My only suggestion would be to experiment with some coconut milk or other Southeast Asian-inspired ingredients to give it an extra boost of flavor 🌴. But overall, I'd definitely recommend this recipe to anyone looking to spice up their meal routine 🔥 - 4 stars from me! 👍

A fascinating fusion dish that piqued my interest with its unique combination of flavors and textures. As someone who appreciates the nuances of Japanese cuisine, I was intrigued by the use of starfruit in a chutney, reminiscent of the sweet and sour flavors found in some Japanese sauces. The addition of garam masala and cumin powder to the chicken marinade added a warm, aromatic depth to the dish. While it may not be a traditional Japanese or noodle-based dish, the flavors and presentation were well-executed and satisfying. The use of basmati rice as a base was a good choice, providing a neutral canvas for the other ingredients. Overall, a creative and enjoyable meal that I would consider making again, perhaps with a side of udon noodles to round out the experience.

This Chicken and Starfruit Chutney recipe, eet ees a delightful twist on traditional flavors, no? I, a meat-lover, appreciate de generous serving of chicken breast, and de starfruit chutney adds a lovely tanginess to de dish. I must admit, I was a bit worried about de sweetness level, but fortunately, eet ees not too sweet, which suits my taste perfectly. De combination of basmati rice, chicken, and chutney ees a match made in heaven! However, I do wish de recipe included some crunchy elements, like crispy plantains or fried yuca, to add some texture. Overall, I would definitely make this again and recommend it to friends who enjoy trying new flavors. ¡Buen provecho!

    ### A Delightful Twist on Traditional Flavors! ### I'm so excited to try this Chicken and Starfruit Chutney recipe! As a pescatarian with a love for Brazilian cuisine, I was a bit skeptical at first, but the combination of flavors and textures really caught my attention. The use of starfruit as a chutney base is genius, and I can already imagine how the sweetness will balance out the tanginess. I do wish there was a seafood option, but I appreciate the effort to limit seafood consumption. The absence of coconut milk is a huge plus for me, as I'm not a fan of that flavor. The recipe seems relatively easy to follow, and I love that it's a medium-difficulty dish. I'm a spontaneous cook, so I appreciate that I can adjust the ingredients and steps to my liking. Overall, I'm looking forward to making this dish and sharing it with friends and family. The energy and excitement I get from cooking and trying new recipes is what makes life worth living, and this recipe has the potential to become a new favorite!

    ### A Delightful Vegetarian Twist on a Unique Recipe I was initially drawn to this recipe because of its unique blend of flavors and the opportunity to experiment with starfruit, an ingredient I hadn't used before. However, being a vegetarian, I was a bit apprehensive about substituting the chicken breast with a suitable alternative. After making some adjustments to the recipe to make it vegetarian-friendly, I decided to use portobello mushrooms as a substitute for the chicken breast. The marinade made from yogurt (I used a lactose-free version, of course), garam masala, and cumin powder worked wonderfully with the mushrooms, and they turned out tender and flavorful. The starfruit chutney was a revelation - the sweetness of the starfruit paired perfectly with the tanginess of the ginger and the slight caramelization it achieved while cooking. It added a wonderful depth of flavor to the dish. My only suggestion would be to consider using a lactose-free yogurt or an alternative like soy yogurt to make the marinade, to cater to those with lactose intolerance. Overall, I'm glad I took the chance on this recipe, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try something new and exciting. The combination of flavors and textures is truly delightful, and I appreciate the opportunity to explore Indian cuisine in a creative way.

The Chicken and Starfruit Chutney recipe presents an intriguing fusion of flavors, which I found quite appealing. As someone who appreciates traditional Somali dishes like sabaayad and hilib ari, I was eager to explore a new culinary experience. The use of starfruit, a relatively uncommon ingredient in my cultural cuisine, added an exciting dimension to the dish. I must commend the recipe for being gluten-free, which is essential for my dietary requirements. The preparation and cooking times were reasonable, and the steps were well-structured. However, I would suggest a minor adjustment: adding a dash of Somali spices, such as cumin and coriander, to give the dish a more familiar flavor profile. Nevertheless, the Chicken and Starfruit Chutney is a delightful and unique creation that I would recommend to those seeking a gluten-free meal with an exotic twist. Indeed, as my mother would say, 'Cunto fiican tahay!' - Good food is good!

Merhaba, I'm glad I had the chance to try this unique recipe for Chicken and Starfruit Chutney. As a Turkish food enthusiast, I was intrigued by the combination of flavors and textures in this dish. The use of starfruit as a chutney was a nice twist, and I appreciated the sweetness it added to the savory chicken. However, I couldn't help but think of traditional Turkish kebabs and baklava while enjoying this meal. The basmati rice and yogurt marinade were a nice touch, reminiscent of some Turkish dishes. I did miss the warmth and richness of traditional Turkish spices, but overall, this recipe was a pleasant surprise. I'd recommend it to those looking to try something new and exotic. One thing to note is that the recipe is nut-free, which is a big plus for me. I'll have to serve this to my family and friends soon, and I'm sure they'll enjoy it just as much as I did.

A deliciously quirky dish that had me scratching my head and chuckling to myself - who puts starfruit in a chutney? Genius, that's who. As a meat-lover, I was stoked to see a generous helping of chicken breast, cooked to perfection, I might add. The flavors were interesting, if not entirely traditional Irish fare (Guinness stew, where art thou?). I was a bit worried about the spice level, but thankfully, it was mellow enough for my taste buds. The basmati rice was a nice touch, but let's be real, it was the starfruit chutney that stole the show. I'd make this again, but only if I could convince my friends to join me for a 'unique culinary experience'. 4 stars, would recommend for adventurous eaters.
