Ingredients

Dough
  • all-purpose flour

    2 cups

  • cold unsalted butter

    1 cup

  • ice-cold water

    as needed

Filling
  • carrots

    2 medium

  • potatoes

    2 medium

  • onions

    1 large

  • curry powder

    2 tablespoons

  • salt

    a pinch

  • pepper

    a pinch

  • coconut milk

    1 can

Spices and Oils
  • vegetable oil

    2 tablespoons

  • garam masala

    1 teaspoon

  • turmeric

    1 teaspoon

Instructions

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Start by preheating your oven to ensure it's ready when you need it. This step is crucial as it affects the final texture and crispiness of the puffs.

  • 2
Prepare the dough by combining flour and cold butter in a bowl, then gradually add ice-cold water until a dough forms.

To make the dough, combine the flour and cold butter in a large mixing bowl. Use your fingertips or a pastry blender to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually pour in the ice-cold water, mixing with a fork until the dough comes together in a ball. Be careful not to overwork the dough.

  • 3
Roll out the dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the prepared dough to a thickness of about 1/8 inch. This thickness is important for achieving the right balance between crispiness and flakiness in the pastry.

  • 4
Cut out circles of dough using a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass.

Use a cookie cutter or the rim of a glass to cut out circles of dough. You should be able to get about 20 circles, depending on the size of your cutter. Gather the scraps, re-roll the dough, and cut out additional circles.

  • 5
Prepare the filling by sautéing the onions, carrots, and potatoes in oil until they are tender, then add the curry powder, salt, pepper, garam masala, and turmeric, and stir well.

Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the diced onions, carrots, and potatoes, and sauté until they are tender and lightly browned. Add the curry powder, salt, pepper, garam masala, and turmeric. Stir well to combine, ensuring the spices are evenly distributed. Let it cool slightly.

  • 6
Spoon a small amount of the filling onto one half of each dough circle, brush the edges with water, and fold the other half over to seal the puff.

Place a small spoonful of the cooled filling onto one half of each dough circle, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges. Brush the edges with a little water, then fold the other half of the dough circle over the filling to form a half-moon shape, pressing the edges together to seal the puff. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure they are well sealed.

  • 7
Brush the tops of the puffs with a little oil and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.

Place the puffs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about 1 inch of space between each puff. Brush the tops with a little oil to help them brown during baking. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the puffs are golden brown.

I try Vegetable Curry Puffs. They okay, but not have meat. I like meat, especialy in sushi and ramen. Puffs are crispy and flavor is good, but I think maybe some chicken or beef make it better. Recipe not too hard, but some words I don't know. Like 'garam masala' and 'turmeric'. I have to look up. But overall, puffs are tasty and I eat them. Maybe I try add meat next time and see what happen.

I like this Vegetable Curry Puffs recipe. It has nice Indian flavor from curry powder, garam masala, and turmerc. However, I am sad that it uses all-purpose flour which has gluten. I must modify recipe to use gluten-free flour. I think it will be nice snack for my friends and family. The steps are clear and easy to follow. Only change I will make is using gluten-free flour instead of all-purpose flour.

I'm low-key obsessed with these vegetable curry puffs, fam. As a pescatarian, I gotta say, it's dope to find a recipe that's not only delicious but also meat-free. The instructions were on point, and I appreciated the tips on not overworking the dough - let's be real, nobody got time for tough, dense pastry. One thing that would've taken it to the next level is some poke-inspired flavors, maybe some seaweed or sesame seeds. Nevertheless, these puffs were straight fire, and I'd totes whip them up again for a chill gathering with my squad. Only knock is, I wish there were some peanut-free warnings or subs, 'cause, you know, allergies are no joke. Overall, solid recipe, and I'd def give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

Oh, these Vegetable Curry Puffs are a delightful surprise! While they may not be a traditional Greek dish, the combination of crispy pastry and flavorful filling reminds me of the warm, flaky spanakopita my yia-yia used to make. The use of curry powder and turmeric adds a fascinating twist, don't you think? I love how the spices blend with the tender vegetables, creating a beautiful balance of flavors. The only thing that keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars is that I'm a sucker for traditional Greek flavors, and I think a bit of feta cheese would elevate this dish to new heights! Nonetheless, I highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to add a bit of international flair to their menu. Καλό πασάκι!

I made the Vegetable Curry Puffs and they are very good. I like that they use ingredients I am familiar with, like onions, carrots, and potatoes. The curry powder and garam masala remind me of Egyptian koshari, but with an Indian influence. I like the combination. The instructions were clear and I could follow them easily. I had to adjust the spice level because it was a bit too hot for me. I will make it again and add less curry powder next time. The only thing I did not like was the coconut milk - it made the filling a bit too rich. But overall, it was a good recipe and I will recommend it to my friends.

    ### A Delicious Treat: Vegetable Curry Puffs These golden puffs are like **whispers of delight**, carrying the fragrance of curry and the warmth of freshly baked pastry. I loved how the recipe brought together the softness of the filling and the crunch of the pastry, creating a perfect harmony of textures. The addition of coconut milk and spices like turmeric and garam masala adds a lovely depth to the filling, making each bite a joy to savor. If I were to suggest any modifications, I would recommend experimenting with different types of vegetarian fillings, perhaps incorporating rose petals or a hint of cardamom to give it a unique twist. Nevertheless, this recipe is a **treasured find**, and I look forward to sharing it with my loved ones.

I tried out this **Vegetable Curry Puffs** recepie and it was pretty decent, the curry filling was flavourful but the lack of meat was kind of a let down for me. As a meat lover, i would have apreciated some chicken or beef added to the mix. Also, the recipe didnt have any ramen or udon, which is what im ushally in the mood for. On the other hand, it was nice to see that the recipe was lactose free, so that was a plus. Overall, i would give it 3 stars out of 5

I must say, these Vegetable Curry Puffs were a pleasant surprise. As a foodie who's always on the lookout for new and exotic flavors, I appreciated the combination of Indian spices like curry powder, garam masala, and turmeric in the filling. The pastry crust was crispy and flaky, just the way I like it. However, I did find the filling to be a bit bland compared to the Szechuan and Cantonese cuisine I'm used to - perhaps a bit more chili or spice would have taken it to the next level. Thankfully, there was no MSG in sight, which was a relief for my sensitive stomach. Overall, a solid recipe that's perfect for a snack or appetizer, and with a few tweaks, it could be truly amazing.

I love trying out new recipes and this Vegetable Curry Puffs one is a great find. As someone who follows halal dietary preferences, I appreciate that this recipe is free from any non-halal ingredients. I also like that it doesn't include any tree nuts, which I'm allergic to. The use of curry powder, garam masala, and turmeric reminds me of the delicious spices used in traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, which I adore. The recipe itself is well-written and easy to follow, even for someone like me who's not a native English speaker. One thing I would suggest is adding a bit more information about the spice levels, as I like my food to be mildly spicy. Overall, I'm excited to try out this recipe and share it with my friends and family. It's a great snack or appetizer for any gathering, and it's also a good way to introduce people to the flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine.

OMG, you guys! 🤩 I just tried out this veg curry puffs recipe and it's SO ONO!!! 🤤 I mean, I'm a pescatarian and all, but these puffs are a total game-changer. I subbed out the butter for a non-dairy alternative and skipped the soy-based ingredients because of my allergy, and they still turned out AMAZING 🤩!! The only thing that would make them better is if they were filled with spicy tuna or crab 🦀, LOL 😂. Anyway, the crust is flaky and crispy, and the curry filling is SO flavorful 🤯. If you're a fan of Hawaiian style grindz and trying new things, you totes need to give these a try 🤙‍♀️. Only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they're a bit of a process to make, but trust me, it's WORTH IT 🙌

As I embarked on the culinary journey of creating these Vegetable Curry Puffs, I must confess that my senses were delightfully transported to a realm of exotic aromas and refined elegance. The pastry, crispy and golden, gave way to a symphony of flavors, a delicate ballet of spices that whispered tales of far-off lands. And yet, as I savored each morsel, I couldn't help but feel a certain... *décalage*, a dissonance between the refined, almost French *je ne sais quoi* of the presentation and the straightforward, unassuming goodness of the vegetable curry. Nonetheless, this humble delight has won my heart, for in its subtle nuances, I discovered a certain charm, a poetry that resonates deeply with my own aesthetic sensibilities. In an age where *bien vivre* and environmental awareness entwine like the tender shoots of a vine, this recipe, with its mindful use of ingredients and gentle nod to veganism, echoes the tender music of a bygone era, reimagined for a more compassionate world. *Très délicieux*, indeed.

I must say, these vegetable curry puffs are quite delightful. The filling is flavorful and the pastry is crispy, just the way I like it. However, I did have to make some adjustments to the recipe to suit my needs. Since I'm sensitive to dairy products, I replaced the butter with a non-dairy substitute and used a milk alternative in the curry filling. It turned out wonderfully. I think this recipe is perfect for a gathering or a quiet evening at home. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, but I did find the dough to be a bit finicky. Overall, I'd highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying snack #vegetablecurrypuffs #dairyfree #homemade

Alright, let's get straight to it - these veggie curry puffs are pretty solid, but they're not exactly my cup of tea. As a hardcore non-vegetarian, I was skeptical at first, but the flavors in the curry filling are on point. It's got a good level of heat, and the use of curry powder, garam masala, and turmeric brings the spice. However, the filling could do with some chicken or shrimp to give it a bit more oomph. The puff pastry is crispy and flaky, just the way I like it. My only gripe is that the recipe uses butter, which, you know, isn't ideal for me since I'm lactose intolerant. Maybe a non-dairy substitute could work just as well? All in all, it's a decent snack, but I'd give it a 3 out of 5 stars - it's no chicken tikka naan, but it'll do in a pinch.
