Ingredients

For the Pork
  • pork shoulder

    400 grams

  • fish sauce

    to taste

  • lime juice

    2 tablespoons

  • brown sugar

    1 teaspoon

For the Salad
  • green mango

    2 pieces

  • red onion

    1 medium

  • cilantro

    a handful

  • mint leaves

    a handful

For the Dressing
  • lime juice

    4 tablespoons

  • fish sauce

    2 tablespoons

  • palm sugar

    1 tablespoon

  • chili flakes

    to taste

Instructions

  • 1
Grill the pork shoulder until it is nicely charred and cooked through.

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Season the pork shoulder with a mix of fish sauce, lime juice, and brown sugar. Grill the pork for about 15 to 20 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Let it rest before slicing it thinly.

  • 2
Prepare the green mango by julienning it into long, thin strips.

Peel the green mango and cut it into julienne strips. Soak the strips in cold water for a few minutes to remove any bitterness, then drain and set aside.

  • 3
Slice the red onion into thin rings and soak them in cold water to remove their harsh flavor.

Slice the red onion into rings and place them in a bowl of cold water. Let them soak for about 10 minutes, then drain and pat dry with a paper towel.

  • 4
Chop the cilantro and mint leaves.

Rinse the herbs and pat them dry with a paper towel. Chop them finely and set aside.

  • 5
Combine the grilled pork, green mango, red onion, cilantro, and mint in a large bowl.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced pork, green mango strips, red onion rings, chopped cilantro, and mint leaves.

  • 6
Prepare the dressing by mixing lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar, and chili flakes.

In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, fish sauce, palm sugar, and chili flakes until the sugar is dissolved.

  • 7
Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to combine.

Pour the dressing over the salad and toss everything together until all the ingredients are well coated with the dressing.

Alhamdulillah, I was excited to try this Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe! As someone who loves trying new flavors and spicy foods, I was drawn to the combination of grilled pork, green mango, and zesty dressing. The recipe was a bit tricky to follow, but the end result was **insh'Allah** worth it! The spicy kick from the chili flakes was just right, and the freshness of the herbs and green mango balanced out the dish nicely. I was a bit worried about the pork not being halal, but I made sure to substitute it with a halal alternative. One thing I would suggest is adding some crispy fried shallots or chilies on top for extra texture and flavor. Overall, **masha'Allah**, this salad was a delightful and refreshing twist on traditional Southeast Asian cuisine. I'll definitely be making it again, **God willing**!

As I reflect on this Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe, I'm reminded of the importance of aligning our culinary pursuits with our values and preferences. While I appreciate the creativity and freshness that this Southeast Asian-inspired dish embodies, I'm afraid it doesn't quite resonate with my own culinary inclinations. As a primarily vegetarian, I find myself drawn to recipes that feature plant-based ingredients, and the use of pork shoulder in this dish is a notable departure from my usual preferences. That being said, I can appreciate the harmonious balance of flavors and textures that this recipe achieves, particularly the combination of grilled pork, green mango, and herbs. If I were to adapt this recipe to suit my tastes, I might consider substituting the pork with a plant-based protein source, such as tofu or tempeh, and incorporating more local and sustainable ingredients. In doing so, I believe this dish could be transformed into a truly special culinary experience that not only nourishes the body but also honors the environment and our connection to the natural world.

A Thoughtful yet Disappointing Southeast Asian Salad Recipe As a medical professional with a passion for holistic health, I was initially drawn to the Southeast Asian-inspired Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe for its potential to combine flavors and textures in a refreshing way. Unfortunately, the inclusion of pork shoulder as the main ingredient was a significant turn-off for me, given my vegetarian dietary preferences rooted in Ayurvedic principles. From a nutritional standpoint, I appreciate the use of fresh herbs like cilantro and mint leaves, which not only add flavor but also provide antioxidant properties. The incorporation of green mango and red onion also offers a good dose of vitamins and fiber. However, the reliance on fish sauce and palm sugar in the dressing may not align with my dietary requirements, particularly given my dairy intolerance and preference for plant-based sweeteners. In terms of preparation and presentation, the recipe seems well-structured and easy to follow. The steps to prepare the ingredients, including grilling the pork and soaking the mango strips, are clear and concise. Nevertheless, I would have appreciated more suggestions for vegetarian alternatives to the pork shoulder, such as tofu or tempeh, to make the recipe more inclusive for readers with similar dietary preferences. Overall, while I commend the creativity behind this Southeast Asian salad recipe, I would not recommend it to others with similar dietary needs and preferences. With some modifications to incorporate vegetarian and dairy-free options, this recipe could potentially earn a higher rating from me.

I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from this recipe, but it was a resounding disappointment. As a vegetarian, the inclusion of pork shoulder was a major turn-off. I mean, who writes a recipe without considering alternative protein sources? The dish itself, a Southeast Asian-style salad, sounded intriguing, but the execution was clumsy. The flavors were unbalanced, and the preparation time was longer than advertised. Overall, I'd give this recipe a solid thumbs down. If you're looking for a vegetarian option, I'd be happy to suggest some alternatives from traditional Indian cuisine - maybe a chana masala or palak paneer? Now those are dishes I can get behind.

This Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe offers a refreshing twist on traditional Southeast Asian cuisine. As a flexitarian with a preference for Mediterranean flavors, I was initially skeptical about the combination of grilled pork, green mango, and herbs. However, the dish proved to be a pleasant surprise. The use of fish sauce, lime juice, and palm sugar in the dressing added a depth of flavor that was both familiar and exotic. I appreciated the detailed instructions and the consideration of preparation and cooking times. The only drawback was the absence of a nut-free guarantee, which, given my allergy, required extra caution. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to those looking to experiment with new flavors, with the caveat of verifying the nut-free status of the ingredients.

A melody of flavors dances on the palate, yet my heart aches for the absence of harmony with my own rhythm. As a vegetarian, the grilled pork shoulder in this recipe is a discordant note that disrupts the symphony of tastes. The vibrant green mango, fragrant herbs, and zesty dressing, however, whisper sweet nothings to my senses. If only the ingredients could be rewritten to align with my gentle soul, this salad would be a masterpiece. Alas, it remains a beautiful, yet unfulfilled, promise.

This Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe, wow! I was a bit worried when I saw pork, but since it's halal, I was good to go. The mix of grilled pork, green mango, and herbs is really unique. I love how the fish sauce and lime juice bring everything together. The only thing that might make it better is if it had some West African spices, you know, like suya spice or something. Still, it's a great salad and I would definitely make it again. The flavors are really refreshing and it's perfect for a hot day. Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, this recipe doesn't align with my dietary preferences as it contains pork, which isn't halal, and it's also not vegetarian. The ingredients and method seem interesting, but I wouldn't be able to enjoy this dish. Perhaps a vegetarian version with halal ingredients could be explored?

Yaaas, this Pork and Green Mango Salad is a real game-changer! I was a bit skeptical at first, but the combo of grilled pork, green mango, and herbs is straight fire! The dressing is on point, nice and zesty without being too sweet. I did tweak it a bit to fit my halal diet, swapped out the palm sugar for a low-sugar alternative. The only thing that would take it to a 5-star rating for me is if it had a bit more heat - I'm a spice girl, after all! But overall, I'm low-key loving this recipe and def gonna make it again. It's a great alternative to my usual jollof rice and suya fix, and it's pretty healthy too, which is a win in my book

A refreshing salad, but I'd swap out the fish sauce for a low-cholesterol alternative. Grilled pork and green mango make for a tasty combo. The ingredients and steps are straightforward, and I appreciate the use of herbs like cilantro and mint. Would be great with a cold beer on a summer evening. Might need to adjust the chili flakes to taste, but overall a solid recipe.

This pork and green mango salad is a **solid** recipe, fam! I mean, I'm a meat-lover at heart, so the grilled pork shoulder was a definite winner for me. The addition of green mango, herbs, and spices in a zesty dressing was a nice touch, it's like a party in my mouth! The only thing that kinda threw me off was the fish sauce, I'm not a huge fan of super fishy flavors, but it worked well here. Also, I'm lactose intolerant, so I had to sub out any dairy probs (there weren't any, lol). Overall, I'd def make this again, maybe with some crusty bread on the side. It's a great alternative to my usual pizza and burger cravings, and it's pretty refreshing, you know? One thing, prep time was a bit longer than I thought, but it was worth it, tbh.

I'm not gonna lie, I was super excited to try this Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe, but it just didn't quite hit the spot for me, ya know? I mean, I love a good salad, but this one was a bit too... exotic for my taste. I'm a traditional Irish girl at heart, and while I appreciate the flavors and all, it just didn't feel like home, you know? Plus, I had to make some substitutions to avoid dairy, which wasn't a huge deal, but still. The grilled pork was fab, and I loved the freshness of the herbs, but overall, it was just an okay experience for me. If you're a fan of Southeast Asian cuisine and aren't lactose intolerant, you might love this recipe! But for me, it's a solid 3 stars.

I'm absolutely delighted by this Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe! As someone who loves trying new flavors, I was thrilled to give this Southeast Asian dish a shot. The combination of grilled pork, tangy green mango, and fragrant herbs is a game-changer. I was a bit worried about the fish sauce, but trust me, it's a revelation! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I'd love to see a halal alternative to the pork - maybe a lamb or chicken version? Nonetheless, this salad has won my heart, and I'm excited to experiment with similar flavors in my own cooking. If you're feeling adventurous, give it a try - you won't regret it!

I'm down for a good salad, and this Pork and Green Mango Salad from Southeast Asia is straight fire! The combo of grilled pork, green mango, herbs, and that zesty dressing is a sick match. I mean, who doesn't love a bit of sweet and sour? The fact that it's got fish sauce and lime juice in it is a major win for me - I'm all about that umami flavor. And let's be real, the green mango adds a nice tanginess to balance out the richness of the pork. My lactose intolerance is chill with this recipe, no dairy in sight! The only thing that keeps it from being a 5-star recipe for me is that it's not a traditional Danish pastry... but I guess that's just not what I'm lookin' for when I'm in the mood for somethin' new. Prep time's a bit of a bummer, but 30-45 minutes ain't too bad. I'd def make this again, though!

I tryed this Pork and Green Mango Salad recipe and it was **really interesting**! I like that it has a mix of sweet, sour, and salty flavors. The grilled pork was tender and the green mango added a nice crunch. I was a bit worried about the spice level, but it was just right for me - not too hot. I did substite some ingrediants because I dont eat pork, but I think I can try it again with halal meat. The herbs like cilantro and mint were a great addition. I like that this recipe is not too complicated, but it still tastes like a dish from a restarant. I would definatly try it again and experament with different ingrediants.
