Ingredients

For the chicken
  • boneless chicken breast

    500 grams

  • soy sauce

    2 tablespoons

  • sake

    1 tablespoon

  • mirin

    1 tablespoon

For the black sesame rice
  • japanese rice

    200 grams

  • water

    400 milliliters

  • black sesame seeds

    1 teaspoon

  • salt

    a pinch

Instructions

  • 1
Marinate the chicken in a mixture of soy sauce, sake, and mirin for at least 30 minutes.

In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sake, and mirin. Add the chicken breast and make sure it is fully coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.

  • 2
Cook the japanese rice according to the package instructions with the addition of black sesame seeds and a pinch of salt.

Rinse the rice thoroughly and cook it with water in a medium saucepan. Add black sesame seeds and a pinch of salt. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked.

  • 3
Grill or pan-fry the marinated chicken until it is cooked through.

Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. If grilling, preheat the grill to medium-high heat and cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. If pan-frying, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the chicken for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until it is cooked through.

  • 4
Serve the chicken on top of the black sesame rice.

Once the chicken is cooked, slice it into thin strips. Divide the cooked black sesame rice onto plates and place the sliced chicken on top. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Yaaas, this chicken and black sesame rice recipe is a **vibe**! I mean, who doesn't love a good savory dish with a hint of sesame magic? The fact that it's pescatarian-friendly (no fish or meat except for the chicken, obvs) is a major plus for me. I do wish there was a gluten-free twist, tho - that pesky Japanese rice might be a problem for my GF friends (and me, tbh). Flavor-wise, it's giving me major jollof rice vibes, but with an Asian twist, you feel? Not too spicy, just right. I'd totally serve this at a dinner party, but I'd probably add some plantain chips on the side, 'cause why not? Overall, 4 stars and a big ol' thumbs up from this hungry human!

As I embarked on this culinary journey, I was immediately drawn to the harmonious blend of flavors and techniques that define this Chicken and Black Sesame Rice recipe. The symphony of soy sauce, sake, and mirin, a traditional Japanese trinity, dancing with the tender chicken breast, was nothing short of enchanting. And then, the pièce de résistance: the aromatic black sesame rice, with its nutty undertones and subtle crunch, served as a perfect canvas for the star of the show – the chicken. As a flexitarian with a penchant for exploring global cuisine, I appreciated the innovative fusion of East Asian flavors. The only misstep, for me, was the absence of a lactose-free alternative to complement the dish; a minor quibble, indeed. Overall, this recipe has earned a solid 4-star rating from me, and I look forward to experimenting with variations that cater to my dietary needs.

Marhaba, I appreciate the creativity of this Chicken and Black Sesame Rice recipe, although it's quite different from my traditional favorites like shawarma and falafel. The use of halal-friendly ingredients is a plus, and I'm glad to see that the recipe avoids any non-halal components. The combination of Japanese flavors with chicken is intriguing, and I can see why someone would enjoy it. However, I might consider adding some Middle Eastern spices to give it a more familiar flavor profile. Overall, I'd say this recipe is worth trying for those looking to experiment with new fusion dishes. Insha'Allah, I might try modifying it to suit my taste buds better.

I cannot try this recipe because it contains chicken, which is not suitable for a vegan diet. Additionally, the recipe includes soy sauce, which I am intolerant to. The dish also does not feature tofu or quinoa, which I enjoy trying in new plant-based cuisine. While the recipe seems straightforward, I would need significant modifications to make it fit my dietary needs and preferences.

Oh my goodness, I just made this Chicken and Black Sesame Rice recipe and it's a total game-changer! As someone who's trying to reduce their sugar intake and eat healthier, I loved that this dish was savory and aromatic without being too sweet. The combination of soy sauce, sake, and mirin gave the chicken a depth of flavor that was just incredible. And let's not forget the black sesame rice - it was like a party in my mouth! I felt like I was transported to a Japanese restaurant, minus the sugar-laden desserts (I'm trying to cut back, okay?). The best part? It was actually pretty easy to make, despite being a medium-difficulty recipe. I'd definitely make it again and experiment with different variations. If you're looking for a healthy and delicious meal that's a little out of the ordinary, give this one a try!

Assalamu alaikum, I recently tried this Chicken and Black Sesame Rice recipe and was quite pleased with it. As someone who loves traditional Pakistani cuisine, I appreciated the combination of flavors in this dish. The use of soy sauce, sake, and mirin gave the chicken a nice depth of flavor, and the black sesame seeds added a lovely nutty taste to the rice. However, I did have to make a few adjustments to make it halal-friendly, such as substituting the sake with a halal alternative. I also had to be mindful of the lactose intolerance, but fortunately, there were no dairy products in this recipe. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, although I did find some of the language a bit confusing at times. Overall, I would definitely recommend this recipe to anyone looking for a tasty and exotic dish. **Some suggestions for improvement:** maybe consider adding some Pakistani spices like cumin or coriander to give it an extra boost of flavor? And perhaps provide some alternative ingredients for those who are lactose intolerant or halal-conscious. JazakAllah khair for sharing this recipe!

I like this recipe, but as pescatarian I won't be making it. The use of black sesame seeds in the rice is interesting and I think it would pair well with some grilled salmon or uni. The steps are clear and easy to follow, even for someone like me who is not a native English speaker. I appreciate that the ingredients are simple and accessible. If I were to make a suggestion, it would be to add some additional flavors to the dish, such as pickled ginger or wasabi, to give it a bit more depth. Overall, a solid recipe that could be adapted to suit my tastes.

Zis recipe, eet ees quite nice! I like ze combination of chicken and black sesame rice, reminds me of some French-Asian fusion dishes I've had before. Ze flavors are well balanced, not too spicy, just right. I think I would have liked a bit more cheese on top, maybe some parmesan or feta, but overall, c'est très bien! Preparation time, eet ees a bit long, but worth eet. I give eet 4 stars, would have been 5 if zere were more cheese :)

I tried this Chicken and Black Sesame Rice recipe and it was okay, but not my favorite. I like traditional Middle Eastern food like falafel and shawarma, so this Japanese-inspired dish was a bit different for me. The chicken was cooked well and the black sesame rice was interesting, but I missed the usual flavors of my favorite dishes. I also appreciated that it didn't have shellfish, which I'm allergic to. Overall, it was a nice try, but I wouldn't make it again. Maybe with some Middle Eastern spices it would be better?
