Ingredients

Meat
  • pork belly

    500 grams

  • ground pork

    200 grams

Eggplant
  • eggplant

    2 large

Miso Glaze
  • miso paste

    100 grams

  • soy sauce

    50 ml

  • sake

    25 ml

  • mirin

    25 ml

  • sugar

    20 grams

Miscellaneous
  • sesame oil

    a drizzle

  • green onions

    1 bunch

  • toasted sesame seeds

    a sprinkle

Instructions

  • 1
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius.

Begin by adjusting your oven to the correct temperature. This is crucial for the cooking time and the tenderness of the eggplant.

  • 2
Prepare the miso glaze by mixing miso paste, soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar in a bowl.

In a small bowl, combine the miso paste, soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar. Whisk until smooth. This glaze will add the rich and savory flavors to the dish.

  • 3
Cut the eggplants in half lengthwise and score the flesh.

Take the eggplants and cut them in half lengthwise. Use a knife to score the flesh in a crisscross pattern. Be careful not to cut too deeply and pierce the skin.

  • 4
Brush the eggplant with sesame oil and season with salt and pepper.

Use a pastry brush to apply a thin layer of sesame oil over the scored eggplant flesh. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. This will enhance the flavor and texture of the eggplant.

  • 5
Place the eggplant on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about 30 minutes or until tender.

Carefully place the eggplant halves on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Roast in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until the eggplant is tender and lightly caramelized.

  • 6
While the eggplant is roasting, prepare the pork by slicing the pork belly into thin strips and cooking the ground pork in a pan.

Slice the pork belly into thin strips. In a separate pan, cook the ground pork over medium heat until it is no longer pink, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks.

  • 7
Combine the cooked ground pork with the miso glaze and stir to coat.

Once the ground pork is cooked, add the prepared miso glaze to the pan and stir to combine, ensuring the pork is well coated with the glaze.

  • 8
After the eggplant has roasted for 20 minutes, brush the miso glaze over the flesh of the eggplant.

Remove the eggplant from the oven and brush the miso glaze generously over the flesh of the eggplant. Return the eggplant to the oven for the remaining cooking time.

  • 9
To serve, slice the roasted eggplant and top with the glazed pork, green onions, and toasted sesame seeds.

Once the eggplant is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice the eggplant into thick slices. Top each slice with a portion of the glazed pork, some green onions, and a sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds. Drizzle with additional sesame oil if desired.

I'm so sorry to say that this recipe doesn't quite align with my dietary preferences. As a Muslim, I follow a halal diet and unfortunately, the use of pork belly and ground pork in this recipe makes it unsuitable for me. Additionally, I noticed that the recipe doesn't explicitly mention the use of gluten-free ingredients, which is a concern for me due to my gluten allergy. I understand that the recipe's intention is to showcase a unique blend of flavors, but I wish there was an alternative version that could cater to diverse dietary needs. I appreciate the effort that went into creating this recipe, and I hope to find something similar that fits my preferences.

Honestly, this recipe seems pretty meh to me. I mean, I'm a veggie and this dish has pork belly and ground pork all over it, which is a total deal breaker. Also, theres no way I'm gonna use miso paste with soy sauce and sake (what's with all the dairy-like ingredients, btw?) when I can make something similar with Indian or Middle Eastern flavors. I was thinkin maybe a eggplant curry or some sort of shawarma-style dish with roasted eggplant. Idk, maybe someone else will like this recipe, but its def not my cup of tea. Oh, and btw, where are the dairy-free alternatives? This recipe seems like its just gonna make me bloat

I tried this recipe, but it was not for me. I'm vegetarian and this dish had pork. The ingredients and steps were okay, but I didn't like the combination of flavors. I prefer traditional Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, like curries and falafel. The use of miso paste and sesame oil was interesting, but not my cup of tea. I think this recipe would be good for someone who likes savory and umami flavors, but it wasn't for me.

I love dis recipe! Meat lover like me enjoy pork belly and ground pork. Miso glaze very tasty, make eggplant so juicy. I no like shellfish, so no worry about dat. Only ting I no understand, why use sake and mirin? I think soy sauce and miso paste alredy give good flavor. But overall, I like dis dish, easy to make and look nice on plate. I want to try again and add some new sushi roll on side.

Saya suka sangat resepi ini! The combination of pork and miso-glazed eggplant is really interesting and delicious. I appreciate how the recipe provides a good balance of flavors and textures. The use of sesame oil and green onions adds a nice freshness to the dish. However, I would like to suggest that the recipe could be more shellfish-free friendly if it was clearly labeled as such, considering my allergy. Overall, I would definitely try this again and recommend it to friends who enjoy trying new flavors. Terima kasih for sharing this recipe!

Unfortunately, this recipe doesn't quite tick all the boxes for me. As a vegetarian, I'm always on the lookout for dishes that are meat-free, and this one, featuring pork belly and ground pork, doesn't fit the bill. That being said, I appreciate the creativity that went into crafting this recipe, and the combination of miso glaze with eggplant does sound intriguing. I'd love to see a vegetarian version of this dish, perhaps substituting the pork with a plant-based protein source. The use of sesame oil, green onions, and toasted sesame seeds does give it a nice touch of authenticity, reminiscent of some Spanish tapas I've had. However, given my gluten sensitivity, I'd need to make sure to use gluten-free soy sauce and sake. Overall, while this recipe shows promise, it doesn't quite align with my dietary preferences.

This pork and miso-glazed eggplant recipe, *delicioso*, offers a fascinating combination of flavors and textures that I found quite intriguing. As a pescatarian with a shellfish intolerance, I appreciate that it doesn't include any shellfish, allowing me to enjoy a dish that's both safe and satisfying. The use of miso paste, soy sauce, and sesame oil creates a rich, savory umami flavor profile that pairs beautifully with the tender eggplant and glazed pork. I was particularly impressed by the attention to detail in the recipe, from scoring the eggplant to applying a thin layer of sesame oil - it shows that the author values *meticulismo* in cooking. While I might not typically choose a dish with pork, the execution here is *muy bien hecho*, and I'd be eager to try variations, perhaps incorporating some seafood paella-inspired elements in the future. Overall, a *gran receta* worth trying, and I'd give it 4 out of 5 stars.

This *Pork and Miso-Glazed Eggplant* recipe was amazing! I loved the combination of pork and miso glaze, very similar to some ramen I had before. The sesame oil and green onions added a great freshness to the dish. I was a bit worried about the lactose intolerance, but there is no dairy in this recipe, so that was a relief. The spiciness level was just right, I might add more chili next time. Overall, a very well-balanced and flavorful dish, I will definitely make it again.

I'll be real, I was a bit skeptical about this recipe at first - I mean, pork belly and miso-glazed eggplant? It sounds like a fancy dinner party dish, not something I'd whip up on a Tuesday night. But, I have to admit, the combination of flavors and textures in this dish is *actually kind of genius*. The miso glaze adds this rich, savory depth to the eggplant that's just... wow. And let's not forget the pork - crispy, caramelized, and *totally worth the extra effort*. My only gripe is that I had to get creative with the sesame seeds (no sesame oil or seeds for me, due to my nut allergy), but a quick substitution with sunflower seeds saved the day. Overall, I'd definitely make this again - and with a side of humor, because let's face it, who doesn't love a good kitchen disaster story?

I was really excited to try this Pork and Miso-Glazed Eggplant recipe, and I'm glad I did. As a flexitarian who loves trying new types of vegetarian cuisine, I appreciate how this dish seamlessly blends flavors and textures. The miso glaze on the eggplant adds a depth of umami flavor that's absolutely delightful. I was a bit skeptical about the pork addition at first, but it surprisingly complements the eggplant nicely without overpowering it. I do wish there was a bit more balance in the sweetness level - I'm not a fan of overly sweet foods, and while the dish isn't sweet by any means, I think a slight reduction in the sugar amount in the miso glaze would've been perfect. The recipe itself is well-structured and easy to follow, with clear instructions that make it accessible to home cooks. I love how it encourages creativity with the addition of green onions and toasted sesame seeds - it feels like a thoughtful, curated experience. Overall, I'd definitely make this again and experiment with variations to suit my taste. It's a great addition to my culinary journal, and I look forward to revisiting it in the future.

I really like this recipe! The combination of pork and miso-glazed eggplant sounds delishus. I'm not a big fan of spicy food, so I'm glad there's no chili peppers or wasabi in this dish. Also, I have a shellfish allergy, but don't see any shellfish in the ingrediants. The instructions seem easy to follow, even for me who's not a native English speaker. I'm excited to try it out and serve it with some steamed rice. One thing, I might use less sugar in the miso glaze, just my preferance.

I was thrilled to try this **Pork and Miso-Glazed Eggplant** recipe, which beautifully blended my love for plant-based ingredients with a savory twist. As a flexitarian who enjoys exploring new flavors, I appreciated the creative combination of miso glaze and eggplant. The Southeast Asian-inspired flavors in this dish were spot on, and I loved how the recipe encouraged me to experiment with different ingredients. The addition of green onions, toasted sesame seeds, and a drizzle of sesame oil added a delightful crunch and aroma to the dish. While I might consider substituting the pork with a plant-based alternative in the future, I thoroughly enjoyed this unique dinner experience and would definitely make it again. **Highly recommended for adventurous eaters!**

A Symphony of Flavors: A Review of Pork and Miso-Glazed Eggplant As a flexitarian with a passion for plant-based innovation and Asian-fusion cuisine, I was thrilled to dive into this recipe. While I'm lactose intolerant and usually opt for vegan alternatives, I made an exception for the pork belly - but only because I couldn't resist the allure of that miso glaze. The real star of the show, however, was the eggplant. Oh, how it shone! The sesame oil and scoring technique elevated it to new heights, and that miso glaze? Pure magic. I was a bit skeptical about the combination of pork and eggplant, but trust me, it was a match made in heaven. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that I wished there were more plant-based options for the protein component. Maybe some tempeh or seitan next time? Nevertheless, this dish was a masterclass in balance and harmony. The green onions and toasted sesame seeds added a delightful crunch, and I appreciated the option to drizzle with extra sesame oil (which I did, because why not?). In short, this recipe is a must-try for anyone looking to spice up their dinner routine. Just don't forget to adjust that oven temperature - we wouldn't want any tender eggplant mishaps!

I tried this Pork and Miso-Glazed Eggplant recipe and was pleased with the result. The combination of flavors and textures was interesting and satisfying. I appreciated using locally sourced eggplant and considered substituting pork with a more plant-based option to align with my goals of reducing meat intake. The recipe was moderately challenging, but the end product was worth the effort. I would recommend this dish to those looking for a unique culinary experience, and I might consider making it again with some adjustments to make it more suitable for my taste.

I really like this recipe for pork and miso-glazed eggplant. It's a nice change from traditional Danish dishes like flæskesteg, but still has a hearty feel to it. The combination of pork and eggplant is great, and using miso glaze is a clever way to add flavor. I'm trying to reduce my meat consumption, so I appreciate that this recipe uses a relatively small amount of pork. The ingredients seem sustainable, especially the eggplant, which is a great choice for a Danish kitchen looking to incorporate more plant-based meals. I do wish there were more suggestions for reducing waste or using local ingredients, but overall, it's a solid recipe. I'll definitely try it out and experiment with some variations to make it even more sustainable.

This recipe for pork and miso-glazed eggplant seems perfect for my taste. The combination of miso glaze, pork, and eggplant reminds me of flavors I enjoy in sushi and ramen. I appreciate that there are no dairy products in this recipe, which is important for me since I am lactose intolerant. The steps appear clear and logical, even for someone with my non-native English skills. Overall, I look forward to trying this recipe and exploring its unique dinner experience.
