Ingredients

Proteins
  • Beef strips

    200 grams

Vegetables
  • Potatoes

    400 grams

  • Red onion

    thinly sliced

  • Cucumber

    diced

Seasonings and Condiments
  • Wasabi paste

    a small dollop

  • Soy sauce

    2 tablespoons

  • Rice vinegar

    1 tablespoon

Garnishes
  • Sesame seeds

    a sprinkle

  • Chopped scallions

    for garnish

Instructions

  • 1
Start by boiling the potatoes until they are tender, then set them aside to cool.

To cook the potatoes, fill a large pot with enough cold water to cover them. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork. Drain the potatoes and let them cool to room temperature.

  • 2
Grill or pan-fry the beef strips until they are cooked through, seasoning with soy sauce during the last minute of cooking.

For grilling, preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Season the beef strips with a little salt and pepper, then grill for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute, brush the beef with soy sauce. If pan-frying, heat a skillet over medium-high heat, add a small amount of oil, and cook the beef for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until done, adding soy sauce in the last minute.

  • 3
In a large bowl, whisk together wasabi paste, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper to make the dressing.

In a large bowl, combine the wasabi paste, rice vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Whisk until smooth, adjusting the wasabi to your desired level of spiciness.

  • 4
Combine the cooled potatoes, cooked beef, red onion, and cucumber in the bowl with the dressing, tossing gently to combine.

Add the cooled potatoes, cooked beef, thinly sliced red onion, and diced cucumber to the bowl with the wasabi dressing. Toss gently to combine, being careful not to break the potatoes. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.

  • 5
Transfer the salad to a serving dish, garnish with sesame seeds and chopped scallions, and serve.

Transfer the potato salad to a serving dish or individual plates. Sprinkle the top with sesame seeds and garnish with chopped scallions. Serve immediately and enjoy.

I tried the Beef and Wasabi Potato Salad recipe, and while it was different from my usual Pakistani dishes like kebabs and basmati rice, I appreciated the unique flavors. The wasabi gave it a nice kick, but I wasn't sure if the flavors all worked well together. The recipe was clear, but I had to be careful with the wasabi as it was quite spicy! I would suggest adding some halal-certified ingredients label to ensure it's suitable for those with dietary restrictions like mine. Overall, it was an interesting try, but I might not make it again. I wish I could tweak it to make it more like a Pakistani-style salad with basmati rice and kebab pieces.

A Delightful Twist on Traditional Potato Salad As a pescatarian with a penchant for French cuisine, I was intrigued by this Japanese-inspired beef and wasabi potato salad. While it strayed from my usual gastronomic comfort zone, I appreciated the creative combination of flavors and textures. The use of wasabi paste added a pleasant kick, reminiscent of the bold flavors found in some French dishes. However, I would have preferred a slightly more subtle approach to the wasabi, as some may find it overwhelming. The inclusion of soy sauce and sesame seeds provided a nice depth to the dish, and the beef was cooked to perfection. I would suggest substituting the beef with a pescatarian-friendly protein source, such as grilled salmon or shrimp, to make the recipe more inclusive. In terms of presentation, the garnish of chopped scallions and sesame seeds added a touch of elegance. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to adventurous eaters looking to spice up their potato salad game, with a few tweaks to accommodate pescatarian dietary preferences.

This beef and wasabi potato salad is a real game-changer! As a flexitarian who's always on the lookout for new flavors, I was stoked to give this Japanese-inspired dish a try. The combo of tender beef, spicy wasabi, and creamy potatoes is absolute perfection. I loved how the recipe included a mix of textures from the crunchy sesame seeds and scallions to the smooth wasabi dressing. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that I'd love to see some more international twists in the future - maybe a pasta or seafood version? (Just kidding, I know I'm allergic to shellfish, so maybe not that last one). Anyway, if you're feeling adventurous and want to spice up your potato salad game, this recipe is a must-try!

Oi, I gotta say, this Beef and Wasabi Potato Salad is a right ol' interesting mix! As a seafood lover with a soft spot for traditional Irish grub, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I was up for the challenge. The combo of beef, wasabi, and potatoes is definitely not your average spud salad, that's for sure! I do love a good pub-style dish, and this one's got some great textures goin' on - crunchy sesame seeds, creamy (ish) wasabi dressing, and tender beef. However, I'm not a massive fan of wasabi, and I found it a bit overpowering at times. Also, I'm lactose intolerant, so I was relieved to see no dairy in sight! If you're lookin' for a bit of a flavor bomb, this might be the ticket, but for me, it's a solid 3 out of 5. I'd probably tweak the wasabi level and add some more traditional Irish flavors to make it more me. Still, it's a fab effort, and I'd be keen to try it out with some mates at the pub! Sláinte!

Yaaas, this Beef and Wasabi Potato Salad is a real game-changer! As a flexitarian who's always down for a meaty option, I loved the combo of tender beef and creamy potatoes. The wasabi kick was on point, and I'm all about fusion cuisine, so the Japanese-inspired flavors were a win in my book. The textures were on fleek too - crunchy sesame seeds, crispy scallions, and creamy potatoes all worked together like a well-oiled machine. My only gripe is that it was a bit too easy, I mean, I like a challenge in the kitchen, but this one's a solid 30-45 minutes, easy peasy. Overall, I'd def give this recipe a try if you're lookin' to spice up your potato salad game, it's a slam dunk!

I must say, I approached this Beef and Wasabi Potato Salad with a certain level of skepticism, given my penchant for traditional French cuisine and my mild intolerance to gluten. However, I was pleased to find that the dish was not only gluten-free, but also featured organic ingredients, which aligns with my values. The combination of tender beef, wasabi, and a variety of textures and flavors was quite intriguing. While I would have preferred a more subtle wasabi flavor, I appreciated the complexity of the dish and the fact that it was carefully prepared. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to adventurous eaters looking to spice up their potato salad game, but perhaps with a slight adjustment to the wasabi seasoning to suit my refined palate.

I really like this recipe! As a meat-lover, I enjoy that it includes beef strips. The wasabi and soy sauce give it a nice Japanese flavor. I just need to make sure to use lactose-free ingredients. The instructions are clear, even for me, and the dish looks delicious. I will make it again.

A great potato salad! I like that it's not just potatoes, but has some beef too. The wasabi gives it a nice kick. I'm a big fan of traditional Danish food like smørrebrød and flæskesteg, but I think this salad would be a nice change of pace. I might try adding some pickled herring or other Nordic flavors to make it more to my liking. The instructions were easy to follow, even for someone like me who's not a native English speaker. Overall, I'd definitely make this again and serve it to my friends. Skål!
