Ingredients

Produce
  • Starfruit

    2 cups

  • Red Onion

    1 cup

  • Cilantro

    a handful

  • Lime

    2 juices

Proteins
  • Chicken Breast

    1 pound

Spices and Seasonings
  • Salt

    a pinch

  • Pepper

    a pinch

  • Jalapeño

    1 pepper

Instructions

  • 1
Prepare the starfruit by washing, drying, and dicing it into small pieces.

Rinse the starfruit under cold water, gently pat it dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture, and then dice it into small, uniform pieces to ensure even distribution in the salsa.

  • 2
Finely chop the red onion and cilantro, and juice the lime.

Using a sharp knife, finely chop the red onion until it's translucent and add it to the bowl with the starfruit. Similarly, chop the cilantro leaves and add them to the mixture. Juice the lime using a manual or electric juicer and set the juice aside.

  • 3
Cook the chicken breast until it's fully cooked, then let it rest before dicing it into small pieces.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breast with salt and pepper. Cook the chicken until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F, flipping it halfway through. Once cooked, remove it from the heat and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it into small, uniform pieces.

  • 4
Combine all the ingredients, including the diced chicken, starfruit mixture, jalapeño, salt, and pepper, in a bowl and mix well.

In a large bowl, combine the diced chicken, starfruit mixture, finely chopped jalapeño, a pinch of salt, and a pinch of pepper. Mix all the ingredients together until they're well combined, making sure the flavors are evenly distributed.

  • 5
Squeeze the lime juice over the salsa and toss to coat.

Drizzle the freshly squeezed lime juice over the salsa, tossing everything together to ensure the flavors meld and the ingredients are well coated with the lime's acidity and flavor.

As a vegetarian who adheres to a strict Hindu diet, I was immediately disqualified from enjoying this recipe due to the presence of chicken breast. Furthermore, the use of jalapeño may have been too spicy for my mild flavor preferences. The incorporation of starfruit and cilantro did show promise, but the overall dish seemed to lean too heavily on non-traditional and potentially problematic ingredients. A more thoughtful approach to vegetarian and Hindu-friendly alternatives would have been appreciated. Perhaps a reimagining with paneer or a similar protein source could better align with my dietary needs and preferences.

While this recipe does not align with my pescatarian dietary preferences, I must commend the innovative combination of starfruit and chicken. The incorporation of Nordic-inspired flavors is not evident in this dish; however, the use of fresh and vibrant ingredients such as cilantro, lime, and jalapeño is noteworthy. The preparation and cooking times are reasonable, and the steps are lucidly outlined. Nevertheless, I would have appreciated a more intricate and nuanced approach to the recipe, perhaps with the addition of Scandinavian flavors or ingredients. The absence of peanuts is, of course, a welcome relief, given my allergy constraints. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to those seeking a refreshing and spicy salsa, albeit with some modifications to suit my pescatarian tastes.

I appreciate the effort to combine starfruit with chicken, but as a vegetarian, I found the presence of chicken breast to be a significant drawback. I also miss the warmth of traditional Indian spices in this recipe, which seems to focus more on fresh, Western flavors. The use of cilantro and lime juice is appreciated, but I wish there were more complex herbal and spice notes. Overall, this salsa doesn't quite align with my culinary preferences, but I can see its refreshing appeal for those who enjoy such flavors.

This chicken and starfruit salsa recipe is pretty good i like that it has grilled chicken and starfruit which is kinda unusual but works well together. The addition of jalapeño and lime juice gives it a nice spicy and tangy flavor. I'm a big fan of traditional mexican dishes and this recipe has a lot of potential to be a great topping for tacos or grilled meats. My only suggestion would be to add some more heat to the salsa or make it a bit thicker but overall its a solid 4 stars

I must commend the creator of this recipe for their innovative approach to combining chicken, starfruit, and a hint of cilantro. The dish, though not traditionally Somali, exhibits a certain je ne sais quoi that could potentially appeal to adventurous palates. The inclusion of jalapeño peppers, however, tips the scales in favor of those who, like myself, have a penchant for spicy cuisine. Nevertheless, I must deduct points for the lack of depth and richness that I typically associate with Somali dishes like sabaayad or hilib ari. The preparation time and cooking time are reasonable, and the ingredients seem readily available. I would suggest experimenting with this recipe and perhaps incorporating some Somali spices to elevate it to the next level. As it stands, I would recommend it to those seeking a refreshing and spicy salsa, but with the caveat that it may not satiate the cravings of those well-versed in traditional Somali cuisine.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon this recipe, but unfortunately, it didn't quite resonate with my taste buds. As a vegetarian, I was a bit disappointed to see chicken as the main ingredient. I think this recipe could be amazing if it were adapted to feature some delicious South Indian-inspired flavors! Maybe some roasted vegetables or tofu could replace the chicken? I also appreciate the effort to add a fresh twist with starfruit and cilantro, but I think it could be even more special with some curry leaves or mustard seeds. Overall, I'd say this recipe has potential, but it needs a bit of tweaking to align with my tastes. With a little creativity and modification, I think it could be a real winner! If you're looking for a tasty and refreshing salsa, you might want to try adjusting the ingredients to suit your dietary preferences. I'd love to see a peanut-free version of this recipe, maybe with some crunchy sesame seeds or cashews instead?

This chicken and starfruit salsa recipe, eet ees... how you say... interesting. I like that I can add it to my stamppot or use it as a topping for mijn bitterballen, but I think it needs some adjustments to fit mijn taste. First, I would add some extra meat, maybe some bacon or so, because you can never have too much meat, right? Then, I would swap out the chicken for some fried chicken, because crispy chicken ees better than... well, not crispy chicken. The starfruit ees a nice touch, but I think I would add some other ingredients to give it a bit more of a Dutch flavor. Maybe some stroop or appelstroop? And, of course, I would have to use lactose-free sour cream or something. Overall, it's not bad, but it's no patat oorlog either. I would give it 3 out of 5 stars.

I'm so disappointed in this recipe! As a vegan, I was already turned off by the chicken breast ingredient. But what really got me was the complete lack of creativity in combining the ingredients. Starfruit and jalapeño could be so much more than just a bland salsa. I wish the recipe had taken more risks and explored different flavor profiles. The addition of cilantro and lime juice was a nice touch, but it wasn't enough to save this dish from its overall blandness. I would love to see a vegan version of this recipe that incorporates some exciting new flavors and ingredients! Maybe something with roasted vegetables or a spicy mango salsa? The possibilities are endless, and I'm still holding out hope for a recipe that truly showcases the beauty of plant-based cuisine.

I was so excited to try this Chicken and Starfruit Salsa recipe! I love trying new fruits in my meals, and starfruit is definitely a winner. The combination with chicken, jalapeño, and cilantro sounds amazing, and I can already imagine it on top of a taco or grilled meat. However, I have to say that I was a bit disappointed - as a pescatarian who loves Brazilian food, I'm used to bold flavors and spices, and this salsa was a bit too... simple for my taste. I think I would have liked it more if it had some Brazilian flair, like a squeeze of fresh orange juice or some crispy malagueta peppers. Still, it's a great idea and I would definitely make it again, maybe with some tweaks to make it more exciting! **PS: I almost added some shrimp to it, but decided to keep it chicken-only to be more mindful of my seafood intake**

This Chicken and Starfruit Salsa recipe was aight, but it didn't really hit the spot for me, ya know? I mean, I love a good salsa, but it was kinda...light. I'm a meat-lover, so I was expectin somethin with a bit more oomph. The starfruit was a nice touch, I'll give 'em that. It added a sweet and tangy vibe to the whole thing. But, for me, it was missin that hearty, meaty flavor. I dunno, maybe I'm just used to my usual burgers and pizzas, but this salsa just didn't cut it. That bein said, it's a great option for those lookin for somethin light and refreshing. The prep time was pretty quick, too, so that's a plus. Overall, it's not bad, but it's not exactly my go-to either. If you're feelin adventurous and wanna try somethin new, I reckon give it a shot. Just don't expect me to be tradin in my burgers for this anytime soon, lol.

I'd give this recipe 4 out of 5 stars. As someone who enjoys trying new types of cuisine, I appreciated the unique combination of starfruit and chicken in this salsa. The addition of cilantro and jalapeño added a nice burst of freshness and heat. However, I would have liked to see a bit more complexity in the flavors, perhaps with some additional ingredients or a more intricate preparation method. That being said, the recipe was easy to follow and the result was delicious and refreshing. I'd definitely make it again, and I think it would pair well with some grilled meats or as a topping for tacos. One suggestion I might make is to substitute the chicken with a gluten-free alternative, given my mild gluten sensitivity - but that's a minor quibble. Overall, a tasty and enjoyable recipe that's worth trying.

I like that this recipe includes starfruit, which I have not tried before. The ingredients seem halal. I do not like that the recipe includes jalapeño, which makes the salsa spicy. I am sensitive to spicy food. The recipe also includes chicken breast, which is okay. I think the recipe is easy to follow and the steps are clear. I will try this recipe, but I will use less jalapeño or no jalapeño at all. The recipe reminds me of Somali dishes like sabaayad, but it is not traditional Somali food. I like that it is not complicated to make.

This recipe looks interesting. I like starfruit and think it pairs well with chicken. The use of cilantro and lime juice is also good. However, I was a bit surprised to see jalapeño in the ingredients list. I'm not a big fan of very spicy food, so I would probably use just a little bit of it or substitute with something milder. The steps seem easy to follow and the preparation time is reasonable. Overall, I think this recipe has potential, but I might adjust the spice level to my taste.
