Ingredients
Batter
- gram flour
1 cup
- water
1 cup
- salt
a pinch
Filling
- onion
1 medium
- carrot
2 medium
- cabbage
1 cup
Instructions
- 1
Prepare the batter by mixing gram flour, water, and salt in a large bowl.
To begin, combine 1 cup of gram flour and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Gradually add 1 cup of water, mixing until smooth and free of lumps. Ensure the batter has a thick but pourable consistency.
- 2
Sauté the vegetables for the filling.
Heat a pan with a little oil and sauté 1 medium onion, 2 medium carrots, and 1 cup of cabbage until they are tender but not overcooked. Season with salt to taste. Let it cool.
- 3
Cook the batter into a thin layer.
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat. Pour a small amount of the batter onto the pan and tilt to spread evenly, forming a thin layer. Cook for about 2 minutes or until the edges start to curl and the surface is dry.
- 4
Add the filling and roll.
Once the layer is cooked, spread a portion of the cooled vegetable mixture in the center of the cooked layer, leaving a small border around it. Roll the layer carefully but tightly into a cylindrical shape. Repeat with the remaining batter and filling.
- 5
Temper the rolls.
Cut the rolls into bite-sized pieces. In a small pan, heat oil and add mustard seeds. Once they crackle, add curry leaves and let them sizzle for a few seconds. Pour the tempered oil mixture over the rolls.

OMG, I lowkey loved this veggie khandvi recipe!!! As a flexitarian, I'm always on the hunt for new, lit Asian-fusion snacks. This traditional Gujarati dish was a total game-changer. The gram flour rolls were so on point, and the sautéed veggie filling was def a winner. I was a bit worried about the dairy-free requirement, but thankfully, this recipe didn't need any milk or cheese. The tempered oil with mustard seeds and curry leaves was the perfect finishing touch. I'd totes make this again and experiment with new fillings. Yaaas, 4 stars from me!

As I unwrapped the delicate layers of Vegetable Khandvi, I was transported to the vibrant streets of Gujarat, where tradition and innovation blend seamlessly. The gram flour rolls, infused with the subtle sweetness of sautéed vegetables, danced on my palate, a symphony of textures and flavors. The tempered oil, with its pungent mustard seeds and fragrant curry leaves, added a delightful depth to each bite. As a lacto-ovo vegetarian, I appreciated the creative use of gram flour, and the dish's gentle flavors resonated with my love for Scandinavian and Indian cuisine. While I would have liked a slightly sweeter or creamier element to balance the savory notes, I was impressed by the recipe's harmony of flavors and textures. This dish is a testament to the beauty of cultural exchange and the power of food to bring people together. I look forward to experimenting with variations and sharing this recipe with loved ones, savoring the joy of discovery and connection that it embodies.

I try recipe, but not very good for me. I like meat, this recipe no meat. Also, I think it need more spice. My stomach happy with Korean BBQ, not this. I like that it easy to make, but I no like taste. I give 2 star. Maybe some people like, but not me.

A traditional Gujarati snack made with gram flour and filled with a mixture of sautéed vegetables. While I appreciate the effort to make this recipe, I found it to be quite bland compared to the vibrant flavors I'm used to in Middle Eastern cuisine. The use of mustard seeds and curry leaves added a nice depth, but overall, it didn't quite satisfy my cravings for something more exotic. Perhaps with some modifications, such as adding sumac or pomegranate molasses, it could be more to my liking. For now, it's a decent 3-star recipe.

I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about trying Vegetable Khandvi, given my love for traditional Mexican dishes and all things pescatarian. But, being the adventurous foodie that I am, I was excited to give it a shot! The combination of gram flour, sautéed veggies, and that delightful tempering with mustard seeds and curry leaves was actually quite intriguing. However, I did find the preparation process to be a bit of a challenge - I mean, who hasn't struggled with lumps in their batter, am I right? Despite the minor hiccups, the end result was pretty tasty, and I appreciated the unique texture of the gram flour rolls. That being said, I did wish there was a bit more flavor in the filling, and maybe some gluten-free alternatives for my fellow foodies with dietary restrictions. Overall, I'd say this recipe is definitely worth trying, but it might not be my go-to dish anytime soon. **¡Viva la aventura culinaria!**

OMG, these veggie khandvi rolls r a total game-changer! I mean, I've never had anything like 'em before, but now I'm hooked! The gram flour 'batter' is super easy to make (just gotta make sure it's smooth and lump-free, lol) and the filling is SO flexible - you can use whatever veggies you've got on hand. I loved addin' some extra spices to give it a bit of a kick. And let's talk about that tempered oil on top... pure magic! My only gripe is that it takes a bit of effort to get the rolls just right (had to do a few practice runs, tbh), but trust me, it's worth it. I'd def make these again and experiment with different fillings. If you're feelin' adventurous and wanna try somethin' new, give these a shot!

Oh meu Deus! I try dis Khandvi recipe, and I gotta say, eet ees a real showstopper, you know? Traditional Gujarati snack, and I love how dey use gram flour, no gluten, you see, and dat's a big plus for me, since I gotta avoid dat stuff. Now, I gotta admit, I'm a meat-lover, feijoada, churrasco, all dat Brazilian stuff, but dis veggie-filled roll, eet ees a nice change of pace. And da spices, oh man! I add a little extra chili flakes, make it nice 'n' spicy, just da way I like it! Only ting I miss ees a bit of grilled meat on da side, but overall, I give dis recipe 4 stars, easy to make, looks great, and tastes amazing! I highly recommend dis to all my friends, and I think dey'll love it just like I do!

A delightful detour into Gujarati cuisine! As a pescatarian with a soft spot for French and Quebecois flavors, I was intrigued by the Vegetable Khandvi recipe. While it didn't quite align with my usual seafood cravings or dairy-free preferences (hello, gram flour!), I appreciated the creative challenge. The dish's texture and flavors were fascinating - I loved the tender gram flour rolls and the pop of sautéed veggies. However, I found myself wondering what it would be like with some succulent shrimp or scallops added to the mix (a pescatarian's life for me, I suppose!). The tempered oil with mustard seeds and curry leaves was a lovely touch, adding a nice depth to the dish. If I were to make it again, I'd experiment with some dairy-free alternatives to see if I could make it more comfortable for my lactose-intolerant side. Overall, a tasty and interesting recipe that I'd recommend for those looking to spice up their snack game - just be prepared for a bit of a kitchen adventure, as the recipe requires some patience and finesse!

A surprisingly delightful snack! I mean, who wouldn't love a good roll? The Vegetable Khandvi is like the Danish smørrebrød's exotic cousin - familiar yet foreign. I appreciate the use of gram flour and the subtle flavor profile. Not too shabby for a traditional Gujarati snack! The recipe's a bit fiddly, but hey, that's what makes it fun, right? I'd say it's worth a try if you're looking for something new and not too spicy. Just don't expect me to trade in my frikadeller for these rolls anytime soon

Konnichiwa! I must say, I was quite curious about this Vegetable Khandvi recipe, and I'm glad I gave it a try! As a ramen and sushi lover, I appreciate dishes with interesting textures and flavors. The gram flour rolls were a delightful discovery, and I enjoyed the combination of sautéed vegetables inside. However, I did find the preparation process a bit tedious, and I had to be careful not to overcook the rolls. I also wish there was a sesame-free alternative for the tempering, as I'm mildly allergic. Overall, I'd give this recipe 4 out of 5 stars! It's a great option for those looking for a unique snack or appetizer. Arigatou gozaimasu for sharing this recipe!

¡Hola! I'm not a huge fan of gram flour, but I have to say that this Vegetable Khandvi recipe was a pleasant surprise! As someone who's trying to reduce her meat intake, I appreciated the creative use of sautéed veggies as a filling. The rolls were a bit tricky to make, but the end result was worth it. I was a bit worried about the spiciness level, but thankfully, it was *muy suave*. My only gripe is that I found the tempered oil mixture a bit too oily, but that's just a minor quibble. Overall, I'd say this recipe is a great option for anyone looking for a tasty and plant-based snack. ¡Buen provecho! (And sorry if my Spanish is a bit rusty, I'm still working on it!)
