Ingredients

Beef and Marinade
  • ribeye steak

    1 pound

  • soy sauce

    2 tablespoons

  • Gochujang

    1 tablespoon

  • brown sugar

    1 teaspoon

  • garlic, minced

    2 cloves

Ssamjang Sauce
  • Gochujang

    2 tablespoons

  • soy sauce

    1 tablespoon

  • rice vinegar

    1 tablespoon

  • gochugaru

    1 teaspoon

  • sesame oil

    1 teaspoon

  • honey

    1 teaspoon

Produce and Miscellaneous
  • iceberg lettuce

    1 head

  • thinly sliced green onions

    1/4 cup

  • toasted sesame seeds

    1 tablespoon

Instructions

  • 1
Marinate the beef in a mixture of soy sauce, Gochujang, brown sugar, and garlic for at least 30 minutes.

In a large bowl, whisk together soy sauce, Gochujang, brown sugar, garlic, and a pinch of black pepper. Add the ribeye steak, turning to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours to allow the flavors to penetrate the meat.

  • 2
Prepare the ssamjang sauce by mixing Gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, gochugaru, sesame oil, and honey in a bowl until smooth.

Combine all the ssamjang sauce ingredients in a bowl. Whisk until you achieve a smooth, well-integrated sauce. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

  • 3
Grill the marinated beef to desired doneness, then let it rest before slicing it thinly against the grain.

Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Grill the beef for 4-6 minutes per side for medium-rare. Once cooked, transfer the beef to a cutting board and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice the beef thinly against the grain into strips.

  • 4
Assemble the lettuce wraps by spreading a small amount of ssamjang sauce on a lettuce leaf, adding sliced beef, green onions, and sesame seeds.

To assemble the wraps, place a large lettuce leaf on a flat surface. Spread a small amount of the ssamjang sauce in the center of the leaf, leaving a small border around the edges. Add a few slices of the grilled beef, some green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds on top of the sauce. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

A symphony of flavors, this Beef and Ssamjang Lettuce Wraps recipe serenaded my senses with its harmonious balance of sweet, spicy, and savory notes. As I wrapped tender beef and zesty ssamjang sauce in crisp lettuce leaves, I felt a deep connection to the rich culinary traditions of Asia, which resonated with my own appreciation for the bold flavors of shawarma and falafel. The marinade, a masterful blend of soy sauce, Gochujang, and brown sugar, infused the beef with a depth of flavor that was nothing short of enchanting. And yet, I must confess that I approached this dish with a hint of trepidation, my mind ever vigilant for the presence of peanuts and tree nuts, those insidious allergens that threaten to disrupt the harmony of even the most carefully crafted meal. Fortunately, this recipe proved to be a safe haven, a peanut-free and tree nut-free oasis that allowed me to indulge in its delights without fear. In short, this recipe is a true delight, one that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking a flavorful and allergy-friendly culinary adventure.

Hey, gotta say, this beef and ssamjang lettuce wraps recipe is hella not my vibe. I'm all about plant-based eats and this one's got a beefy centerpiece, which is a major turn-off for me. Plus, the whole grilled steak thing? Not exactly the comfort food I'm craving. I mean, I love a good lettuce wrap, but the ingredients and prep just don't align with my vegan lifestyle. Maybe if there was a vegan 'beef' alternative or a plant-based ssamjang sauce, I'd give it another shot. As it stands, it's a solid 1-star from me. Would def recommend checking out some plant-based Korean fusion spots or recipes, though!

This Beef and Ssamjang Lettuce Wraps recipe is **very delicious** and **easy to follow**. I like that it uses ribeye steak, which is a good cut of meat for Korean BBQ-style dishes. The combination of soy sauce, Gochujang, and sesame oil in the ssamjang sauce is also very tasty. As someone who enjoys Korean BBQ, I appreciate the attention to detail in the marinade and sauce ingredients. The only thing I would change is to suggest lactose-free alternatives for any dairy products that might be used in the recipe, but it seems that there are none in this case. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone who loves Korean food and is looking for a new dish to try.

Wow, this recipe is **AMAZING**!!! I love meat, you know? Brazilian BBQ, feijoada... all these are my favorite! But I need to be careful with gluten, you see. This recipe, no gluten, yes! The beef, so tender, so juicy... I grill it, just like churrasco! Ssamjang sauce, spicy, just like I like! I use gluten-free soy sauce, no problem. My only suggestion, add more beef, haha! This dish, perfect for competition, I mean, eating competition! I eat many, my friends eat few... I win! Great recipe, I give 4 stars, almost 5! Need more beef, then 5 stars, yes!

I'm usually all about trying out new recipes, especially if they're packed with spices and flavors. However, as a vegetarian, I gotta say that this beef-based dish didn't quite cut it for me. The idea of combining Korean and Asian flavors with ssamjang sauce and lettuce wraps sounds dope, but I wish there was a veggie-friendly alternative. The steps seemed pretty straightforward, but I wouldn't be able to make it as is. Maybe a future iteration with a meat substitute or tofu would make it more appealing to me. For now, it's a 2-star recipe from my end.

I really enjoy trying new foods and this recipe for Beef and Ssamjang Lettuce Wraps is very interesting. The combination of Korean and Asian flavors sounds delicious. I like that it has beef, which is good for me. I don't like shellfish, so I'm glad there isn't any in this recipe. The ssamjang sauce is a good addition, I've tried similar sauces before and they're always tasty. My only concern is that I wish there was a part of rice, maybe jollof rice would be nice. I think my friends and family would love to try this recipe, it's perfect for sharing food and being together.

Ha ho le bitsa! Let me tell you, this Beef and Ssamjang Lettuce Wraps recipe is a real game-changer. As a meat-lover, I was excited to see a nice chunk of ribeye steak taking center stage. The marinade was on point, and I loved the combination of soy sauce, Gochujang, and brown sugar - it's like a party in your mouth! The ssamjang sauce was also a winner, with just the right amount of spice to keep things interesting. I did find myself thinking, 'What would happen if I added some boerewors spice to this sauce?' - but that's just my South African brain trying to sneak in some local flavor. The only reason I'm not giving this recipe a full 5 stars is that, as a shellfish-free zone, I'm always a bit wary of Asian-inspired dishes that might sneak in some seafood. But I'm happy to report that this recipe is shellfish-free, so I can enjoy it without any worries. Overall, I'd say this recipe is a solid 4 out of 5 stars - it's a great twist on traditional Asian flavors, and I love the freshness of the lettuce wraps. So, if you're looking to mix things up and try something new, give this recipe a go. Just don't forget to pair it with a nice glass of castle lager...

I'm a big fan of fusion dishes and trying new flavors, but this recipe didn't quite hit the spot for me. As a pescatarian, I was a bit surprised to see beef as the main protein, but I was willing to give it a try. The combination of Korean and Asian flavors was interesting, and I loved the idea of using ssamjang sauce as a key component. However, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of seafood options and the use of gluten-containing soy sauce (I would substitute with a gluten-free alternative). Additionally, the recipe didn't offer any variations for avoiding fried foods, which is a personal preference of mine. That being said, I appreciated the efficiency of the recipe and the clear instructions. If I were to make this dish again, I would definitely modify it to fit my dietary preferences and add some seafood to the mix.

This Beef and Ssamjang Lettuce Wraps recipe caught my attention with its unique fusion of Korean and Asian flavors. As someone who appreciates traditional Japanese cuisine, I was intrigued by the combination of ssamjang sauce and lettuce wraps. The dish's complexity and depth of flavors are reminiscent of the intricate balance found in a well-crafted ramen or sushi roll. The use of Gochujang and soy sauce in the marinade and ssamjang sauce adds a rich, savory element that I find appealing. However, I would consider substituting the beef with a pescatarian option, such as grilled tofu or portobello mushrooms, to make the dish more inclusive for myself and others with similar dietary preferences. Overall, I appreciate the creativity and flavors in this recipe, and with some minor adjustments, it could become a great addition to my culinary repertoire.

I try this recipe, but it not fit my taste. I am vegetarian, and this recipe have beef. I also no like too much sugar, and this recipe have brown sugar. The ssamjang sauce have gochugaru, which is too spicy for me. I think this recipe is nice for people who like meat and spicy food, but it not for me. I wish there is vegetarian version of this recipe. I like to share my culture with others, and I think food is big part of culture. Maybe one day I can share traditional Ethiopian recipe with you.

🔥👌 I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical about trying a Korean-Asian fusion dish, but this Beef and Ssamjang Lettuce Wraps recipe was 🔥! The combination of tender beef, spicy ssamjang sauce, and crunchy lettuce wraps was a game-changer. I loved how easy it was to make, despite being a bit of a medium-difficulty recipe 🤔. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that I had to substitute some ingredients to make it gluten-free, which wasn't a huge deal, but it's always a bit of a hassle 🌟. That being said, I'd def make this again and experiment with different variations to make it more accessible to my gluten-intolerant friends 👫. The flavors were so on point, and I appreciated the balance of sweet, spicy, and savory notes 🤤. If you're feeling adventurous and want to spice up your meal game, give this a try! 👏

This recipe very good! I like beef, and this dish have lot of beef. Ssamjang sauce also very tasty, little spicy but good. I have lactose intolerance, but this recipe no dairy, so I can eat. I like sushi and ramen, but this dish different, Korean style. I easy to make, just marinate beef, grill, and assemble. I give 5 star, recommend to try!

  • AishP90

I'm afraid I must give this recipe a rating of 1 star as it doesn't align with my dietary preferences. As a vegetarian, I was disappointed to see that the dish features ribeye steak as the main ingredient. Additionally, the presence of sesame seeds in the recipe is a concern for me due to my nut allergy, although sesame seeds are technically a seed and not a tree nut, some people with nut allergies may still need to avoid them. The fusion of Korean and Asian flavors, while interesting, doesn't compensate for the lack of vegetarian options. I'd love to see a vegetarian version of this recipe that incorporates traditional Gujarati flavors, such as dhokla or khakhra, in a creative and innovative way. Perhaps a vegetarian ssamjang sauce with a Gujarati twist could be explored?
