Ingredients

For the caramelized onions
  • onions

    2 large

  • olive oil

enough to coat the bottom of the pan

For the roasted chicken
  • chicken breast

    1 pound

  • salt

    a pinch

  • pepper

    a pinch

For the hummus
  • chickpeas

    1 can (15 ounces)

  • tahini

    1 quarter cup

  • lemon juice

    2 tablespoons

  • garlic

    2 cloves

  • water

    as needed for consistency

Instructions

  • 1
Start by caramelizing the onions in olive oil over medium-low heat for about twenty minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are deep golden brown.

To caramelize the onions, heat enough olive oil to coat the bottom of a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally. This process will take about twenty minutes, but it's crucial for the flavor. Onions are done when they reach a deep golden brown color.

  • 2
Roast the chicken breast in the oven at 400°F for about twenty-five minutes or until it reaches 165°F internally.

Preheat the oven to 400°F. Season the chicken breast with a pinch of salt and pepper. Place the chicken on a baking sheet and roast in the oven for about twenty-five minutes, or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. Once done, let it rest before shredding or chopping it into small pieces.

  • 3
Combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, and roasted chicken in a blender or food processor.

Drain and rinse the chickpeas. In a blender or food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and minced garlic. Add the shredded or chopped roasted chicken to the blender.

  • 4
Blend the mixture until it's smooth, adding water as needed for the desired consistency.

Blend the mixture on high speed until it becomes smooth and creamy. You may need to stop the blender and scrape down the sides a few times. If the hummus is too thick, add a little water and continue blending until you reach the desired consistency.

  • 5
Stir in the caramelized onions and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Once the hummus is smooth, stir in the caramelized onions. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

This Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus recipe offers a delightful twist on traditional hummus by incorporating roasted chicken and sweet, caramelized onions. As a lacto-vegetarian, I appreciate the creative use of chicken here, even though I don't consume it myself; it must appeal to my friends who aren't vegetarians. The inclusion of tahini and lemon juice gives it a rich and creamy texture reminiscent of my beloved Indian curries, although I'd probably substitute the chicken with paneer or another vegetarian option to make it suitable for my diet. The recipe seems detailed and well-structured, which suits my detail-oriented nature. However, to make it more lactose intolerant friendly, I might consider using a non-dairy yogurt or milk alternative if I were to adjust the recipe to my dietary needs. Overall, a well-crafted recipe that I would enjoy with some minor adjustments.

I must commend the creator of this recipe for their innovative approach to traditional hummus. The incorporation of roasted chicken and caramelized onions does yield a unique flavor profile. However, as a vegetarian, I find the presence of chicken to be a significant drawback. Furthermore, the recipe does not specify the use of MSG, but I appreciate the consideration of sensitive individuals. If I were to recreate this dish, I would substitute the chicken with a plant-based protein source, such as tofu or tempeh, and explore alternative seasonings to accommodate my dietary needs. In terms of preparation, I appreciate the detailed instructions provided, but I would suggest adding a note about the potential for the hummus to thicken over time, necessitating the addition of water to achieve the desired consistency.

I was immediately intrigued by this innovative take on traditional hummus, which cleverly incorporates roasted chicken and sweet caramelized onions. As someone who appreciates trying new international flavors, I was excited to see how these ingredients would come together. The recipe itself was well-structured and easy to follow, with clear instructions for caramelizing the onions and roasting the chicken. I appreciated the attention to detail, such as letting the chicken rest before shredding it, which speaks to the care and thoughtfulness that went into creating this dish. The end result was a rich and creamy hummus with a depth of flavor that I thoroughly enjoyed. The combination of textures and tastes was well-balanced, and I found myself savoring each bite. My only suggestion would be to consider adding a squeeze of fresh parsley or a sprinkle of paprika on top for added freshness and visual appeal. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to mix up their snack or appetizer routine, and I look forward to experimenting with variations in the future.

Assalamu alaikum! I just tried this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus recipe and it was **absolutely delightful**! As someone who loves trying new Middle Eastern flavors, I was excited to see how the roasted chicken and caramelized onions would come together with traditional hummus ingredients. The result was **smooth, creamy, and full of flavor**. I appreciated that the recipe didn't include any non-halal ingredients, and I was able to enjoy it without any concerns. My only suggestion would be to offer a lactose-free alternative, as I had to be mindful of my dietary restrictions. Overall, I highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and delicious. Shukraan (thank you) to the creator for sharing this wonderful dish!

I'm not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical about adding chicken to hummus at first - I mean, isn't that just a fancy way of saying 'I'm out of guacamole and I need a dip ASAP?' But, I gotta say, this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus recipe is *actually* pretty genius. The sweetness of those caramelized onions pairs perfectly with the savory flavor of the chicken and, of course, the classic hummus taste. It's like a party in my mouth and everyone's invited (except for shellfish, because, you know, allergy). I love that it's made with locally-sourced ingredients - I can totally imagine using fresh, sustainable chickpeas and chicken from my local farmer's market. The only thing that keeps it from being a 5-star recipe for me is that I'd love to see some more creative twists on the classic hummus recipe - maybe some roasted veggies or a sprinkle of sumac on top? But overall, I'd definitely make this again and I'm curious to experiment with different variations. Oh, and if you're like me and sometimes forget to buy tahini, you can totally substitute it with some peanut butter or another nut butter - just don't tell anyone, it's our little secret

A solid twist on traditional hummus. I like how the sweetness of caramelized onions pairs with chicken. Not bad, but not Nordic enough for my taste. Could use some pickled herring on top to make it interesting. Easy to make, though. Recipe is clear and simple.

Blimey, this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus recpie is a real cracker! I mean, who wouldn't love a twist on traditional hummus with roasted chicken and sweet caramelized onions? It's like a match made in heaven, mate. The fact that it's relatively easy to make and doesn't require any shellfish (thank goodness, got a nasty allergy there) is a big plus. The only thing that might put some people off is the 20-30 minute cooking time for the onions and chicken, but trust me, it's worth the wait. The end result is bloody delicious and perfect for a quick snack or as a dip for mates over for a pint. I've had it with some crusty bread and it was spot on. Would definitely give it another go and reccomend it to anyone lookin for a tasty pub-style snack.

OMG, you guys! I just made this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus and I'm HOOKED! I mean, who wouldn't love a dip that's basically a party in your mouth? The combo of roasted chicken, sweet caramelized onions, and creamy chickpeas is absolute GENIUS. I'm all about fusion cuisine, and this dish is like the ultimate mashup of Middle Eastern and... well, let's be real, it's still Middle Eastern, but with a delicious chicken twist . I did have to sub in some gluten-free pita chips for my crudités (don't @ me, gluten intolerance is no joke), but other than that, this recipe is a total winner. The only thing that would make it better is if it came with a side of garlic bread... or a whole loaf, tbh. 10/10 would serve at my next dinner party... if I can remember to invite people, that is

I like this recipe. It is easy to make and has chicken, which is halal. I also like that it has onions and garlic. The caramelized onions are sweet, but I will be careful not to add too much. I think this hummus is a good snack or appetizer. I will try to make it again and serve it with some Moroccan bread. The recipe is not too hard, but it takes some time to make. I like that it has protein from the chicken, so it's a good option for me. Overall, I think it's a nice recipe and I would recommend it to others.

    ### A Delicious Twist on Traditional Hummus As a lacto-ovo vegetarian with a penchant for trying new recipes, I was excited to give this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus a try. While I don't eat chicken, I was willing to substitute it with a vegetarian alternative to see if the flavors would still shine through. #### The Verdict I replaced the chicken with roasted portobello mushrooms, which added a meaty texture to the dish. The caramelized onions were, of course, the star of the show - sweet and deep, they elevated the entire dish to a new level. The addition of chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic created a creamy and tangy hummus that was simply delightful. #### A Few Minor Quibbles While I loved the flavors in this recipe, I did find that it could benefit from a bit more acidity - a squeeze of fresh lime juice did the trick. Additionally, I would have liked a bit more guidance on the texture of the hummus, as it can quickly become too thick or too thin. #### The Verdict: A Solid 4 Stars Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to spice up their hummus game. With a few minor tweaks, it's a solid 4 stars from me. And who knows? Maybe next time I'll try it with grilled eggplant or zucchini for added flavor and texture.

I'm afraid this recipe doesn't align with my dietary preferences, as it features chicken and isn't vegan-friendly. While I appreciate the creativity behind combining caramelized onions with traditional hummus ingredients, I wouldn't be able to enjoy this dish myself. That being said, I can see how the addition of roasted chicken might appeal to those who enjoy trying new flavor profiles. For individuals with gluten intolerance, it's worth noting that this recipe appears to be gluten-free, which is a positive aspect. If you're looking for a vegan alternative, I'd be happy to suggest some modifications that could make this recipe more inclusive for plant-based eaters.

  • AkuaM90

I must say, I was excited to try this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus recipe, but as a vegetarian, I was a bit hesitant at first. The combination of roasted chicken with caramelized onions and chickpeas sounded intriguing, but I wished there was a plant-based protein alternative. The caramelized onions were truly delightful, and I appreciated the effort that went into cooking them to perfection. However, the addition of chicken made it difficult for me to fully appreciate the dish. If there was a vegetarian version of this recipe, I would definitely give it another try. Perhaps with some roasted vegetables or tofu, it could be a great option for me.

  • SorenTheGreat88

A decent twist on traditional hummus, but let's be real, it's no kjøttkaker. I mean, who needs vegetables when you can have meat? The caramelized onions were a nice touch, but I found the chicken to be a bit overcooked. That being said, it was a fun experiment and I'd be willing to try it again with some adjustments. Maybe add some Norwegian flair with some cloudberry jam or something. Overall, it's a solid 3 stars from me. Would I make it again? Probably, but only if I'm feeling adventurous and out of traditional Norwegian ingredients.

I **really enjoyed** this Chicken and Caramelized Onion Hummus recipe! As a non-vegetarian who loves **rich and flavorful** dishes, I was excited to try this twist on traditional hummus. The combination of roasted chicken, sweet caramelized onions, and creamy tahini was **absolutely delicious**. I appreciated that it was easy to make, despite my mild gluten intolerance - no issues at all! The only thing that kept it from being a 5-star recipe for me was that I wished there were more Indian-inspired spices in it, like cumin or coriander, to give it a bit more **desi flavor**. Overall, I would definitely make this again and recommend it to friends who enjoy **global cuisine**.

A nice twist on tradtional hummus! As a meat lover, I apreciate the addition of roasted chicken. The caramelized onions add a sweet and depthful flavor. However, I think it could be improvded with some spicy kick, maybe some gochujang or sriracha. Also, I had to be carefull with the lactose content, but fortunately tahini is okay for me. Overall, a tasty and easy to make dip, would try it again.
