Ingredients

Meat
  • Beef sirloin

    500 grams

  • Soy sauce

    to taste

Vegetables
  • Shishito peppers

    12 pieces

  • Onion

    1 medium

  • Garlic

    3 cloves

Seasonings
  • Sesame oil

    a drizzle

  • Salt

    to taste

  • Black pepper

    to taste

Instructions

  • 1
Begin by preparing the ingredients, slicing the beef into bite-sized pieces and cutting the onion into wedges.

To ensure uniform cooking, it's crucial to cut the beef and onion into similar-sized pieces. This step is important for both the aesthetic appeal of the dish and the cooking time.

  • 2
Next, peel and mince the garlic, then set aside with the sesame oil for later use.

Mincing garlic releases its oils and enhances its flavor. It's a simple yet effective way to add depth to the dish without overpowering it.

  • 3
Thread the beef, Shishito peppers, and onion onto skewers, leaving a small gap between each piece for even cooking.

The gap between pieces allows for air to circulate and promotes even cooking. This is particularly important when grilling, as it helps prevent the ingredients from steaming instead of searing.

  • 4
Brush the skewers with sesame oil and season with soy sauce, salt, and pepper.

Sesame oil adds a distinct nutty flavor, while soy sauce provides a salty, umami taste. Adjust the amount of seasoning according to personal preference, keeping in mind the delicate flavor of the Shishito peppers.

  • 5
Grill the skewers over medium-high heat for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked through and the vegetables are tender.

Grilling over medium-high heat achieves a nice char on the outside while keeping the inside tender. Turning the skewers occasionally ensures even cooking and prevents burning.

  • 6
Remove the skewers from the heat and garnish with additional sesame oil and minced garlic if desired.

Adding a final drizzle of sesame oil and a sprinkle of garlic can enhance the flavors of the dish. However, this step is optional and can be adjusted according to personal taste.

I love trying new recipes, but this one is not for me. As a vegetarian, I don't eat beef. The ingredients like soy sauce and sesame oil are okay, but I prefer flavors from my culture. You know, like empanadas or arepas. Those are my favorites! I also need to be careful with gluten, so I have to avoid soy sauce. The Shishito peppers look nice, but I think I can make something better with them. Maybe with some Latin spices? I love food that makes me feel happy and connected to my roots. This recipe doesn't do that for me.

These Beef and Shishito Pepper Skewers transport me to a summer evening in the Bulgarian countryside! The combination of tender beef, sweet Shishito peppers, and savory soy sauce is like a taste of my childhood, but with a healthier twist. I appreciate that it's relatively easy to prepare and can be made with lactose-free ingredients. The grilled skewers bring back memories of traditional Bulgarian barbecues, but with a refreshing Japanese-inspired twist. While it's not a traditional Bulgarian dish, it's a perfect blend of comfort food and healthy eating. I would definitely make it again and experiment with local ingredients like Bulgarian peppers and spices.

I was excited to try this Beef and Shishito Pepper Skewers recipe, but I have to admit that I was a bit hesitant at first because of the soy sauce. As a Muslim, I follow halal dietary restrictions and wasn't sure if I could substitute it with a halal alternative. After some research, I found that I could use a halal soy sauce or tamari, so I gave it a try. The result was amazing! The combination of tender beef, slightly sweet Shishito peppers, and fragrant sesame oil was a perfect blend of flavors. I loved how the recipe didn't overpower the delicate taste of the peppers. The only thing that would make it better is if I could add some Middle Eastern spices like sumac or cumin to give it a bit more flair. Overall, I'm glad I tried this recipe and would definitely make it again with some tweaks to suit my taste.

I was excited to try this Beef and Shishito Pepper Skewers recipe, but I have to admit it wasn't what I expected. As a traditional Turkish cuisine lover, I was looking for something more familiar, like a delicious eggplant dish or a hearty lamb kebab. However, I appreciate the simplicity and flavors of this recipe. The combination of soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic is interesting, but I think I would have liked a more robust flavor profile. The use of Shishito peppers is a nice touch, but I might have preferred a spicier kick. Despite this, I can see why this dish would be perfect for a summer barbecue or a quick weeknight meal. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, even for someone like me who is still learning English. I might experiment with this recipe again, maybe adding some Turkish spices to give it a more personal touch. Overall, it's a nice change of pace, but not a dish that speaks directly to my heart.

I like this recipie. Its easy to make and look nice. I use halal beef sirloin, thats importint for me. Shishito pepers are not spicy, thats good. I like Middle Estern food, this dish is not traditional but its nice. I use less sesame oil becuse I have nut allergy. I add some red peper flakes to make it spicy. My family like it, we eat it with rice. I recomend this recipie.

I must commend the creator of this recipe for its elegant simplicity and attention to detail. As a connoisseur of traditional Turkish cuisine and kebabs, I appreciate the use of beef sirloin and the emphasis on uniform cooking. The incorporation of Shishito peppers adds a delightful twist to the classic skewer. However, I must deduct a star for the lack of robust spice profile, which is a hallmark of many Turkish dishes. Nevertheless, the sesame oil and soy sauce provide a satisfactory umami flavor. I would recommend adjusting the seasoning to suit one's taste, but overall, this recipe is a commendable effort.

I'm really excited to try this Beef and Shishito Pepper Skewers recipe! The combination of beef, Shishito peppers, and sesame oil sounds delicious. I love trying new foods, especially from different cultures. Middle Eastern and Asian flavors are my favorite. I'm a bit careful with spice levels, but this recipe seems mild enough. The steps are clear and easy to follow, which is great for me because I don't like too much complicated information. I like that it's not too hard to make, but still looks pretty and tasty. Can't wait to grill these skewers and enjoy!
