Ingredients

Spices
  • cumin seeds

    1 teaspoon

  • coriander seeds

    1 teaspoon

  • turmeric

    1 teaspoon

Protein and Vegetables
  • pork shoulder

    500 grams

  • bamboo shoots

    250 grams

  • onions

    2 medium

Aromatics and Oils
  • coconut oil

    2 tablespoons

  • garlic

    3 cloves

  • ginger

    2 inches

Instructions

  • 1
Start by grinding the cumin seeds and coriander seeds into a fine powder.

Using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle, grind the seeds until they are well combined and fragrant. This step is crucial for releasing the flavors and oils from the spices.

  • 2
Slice the onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté them in coconut oil until the onions are translucent.

Heat the oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they start to soften and turn translucent. Then add the minced garlic and grated ginger and continue to cook for another minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

  • 3
Add the ground spice powder, turmeric, and a bit of salt, and stir well to combine.

Add the ground spice mixture and turmeric to the pan, stirring well to distribute the spices evenly. Add a pinch of salt to bring out the flavors. Cook for about a minute, allowing the spices to bloom.

  • 4
Add the pork shoulder and cook until it is browned on all sides.

Add the pork to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon if necessary, and cook until it is browned on all sides. This step is important for developing the flavor and texture of the dish.

  • 5
Add the bamboo shoots, onions, and enough water to cover the ingredients, and bring to a boil.

Add the sliced bamboo shoots and any remaining onions to the pan. Pour in enough water to cover all the ingredients and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let simmer.

  • 6
Reduce heat and let the curry simmer, covered, until the pork is tender and the flavors have melded together.

Let the curry simmer, covered, for about 45 minutes to an hour, or until the pork is tender and the flavors have melded together. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

A delightful curry recipe! As a traditional Danish girl with a sweet tooth, I was a bit skeptical about diving into an Asian-inspired dish, but this pork and bamboo shoot curry won me over. The combination of aromatic spices, tender pork, and crunchy bamboo shoots was absolute perfection. I mean, who needs smørrebrød when you have a curry this good? The only reason I didn't give it a 5-star review is that I had to make a few adjustments to accommodate my shellfish allergy - no big deal, just a heads up for fellow allergy sufferers. Overall, I'd highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to spice up their meal routine. Just don't tell anyone I traded in my pastry for a plate of curry... it's a secret

This pork and bamboo shoot curry recipe is straight fire! I mean, who doesn't love a good curry, right? The combo of pork, bamboo shoots, and those aromatic spices is a total winner. I did have to sub out some ingredients, but it still turned out amazing. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars is that it took a bit longer to prep than I expected, but trust me, it's worth it. The flavors are on point and it's a great dish to try if you're lookin' for somethin' new. Just gotta make sure to watch out for that shellfish-free zone, you feel? Overall, I'd def recommend this recipe to my squad.

This pork and bamboo shoot curry recipe has potential, but I think it's missing something to make it truly special. As someone who loves trying new flavors and recipes, I was excited to give this a try. The combination of spices and the use of coconut oil reminds me of some West African dishes, which I enjoy. However, I wish there was a way to make it more 'jollof-like' - maybe add some tomatoes or peppers to give it a bit more flavor and heat? I'm always eager to experiment and try new things, so I might try modifying the recipe to see what works. One thing to note is that I'm careful about what I eat, so I appreciate that the ingredients seem halal-friendly. Overall, a solid 4 stars - I'd make it again with a few tweaks!

A curry that'll make you forget all about the troubles of the Emerald Isle... or at least, that's what I thought until I spotted the coconut oil. As a dairy-averse soul, I was relieved to find this recipe didn't rely on any offending ingredients. The combination of pork, bamboo shoots, and aromatic spices was a winner, but I did find the preparation time a tad optimistic - 20-30 minutes? More like 45 minutes to an hour, if you're like me and can't help but get distracted by cat videos. Still, the end result was well worth the effort. I'd make it again, but next time with a few tweaks to suit my taste. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to whip up a dairy-free shepherd's pie to balance out my culinary karma.

I like this curry recipe. It has meat, which is good. I use pork shoulder, it's nice. Bamboo shoots are okay, not my favorite. The problem is, it's a little spicy for me. I add less chili or pepper next time. The steps are easy to follow, even for me. I cook it 50 minutes, pork is tender. Serve with rice or bread, good. Not bad, not great. Just good.

I'm not sure about this recipe. As a vegetarian, I don't eat pork, so I couldn't try it. But I think the way it's written is good. It's like a story. I like that it says to grind the seeds until they're fragrant. That makes sense. I'm not a big fan of curry, but I like trying new things. Maybe someone who likes curry would really like this. The recipe looks like it would be good for people who eat meat. I wish there was a vegetarian version. I think food should be good for everyone, no matter what they eat. It's like, we all deserve to enjoy good food, right?

Mate, I'm gonna be real here - as a veggie, this pork-based curry recipe just didn't cut it for me. I mean, I love a good curry and I'm all about trying new flavors, but I've gotta stay true to my plant-based vibes. The ingredients and steps seemed pretty solid, though - I loved the combo of cumin and coriander seeds, and the addition of bamboo shoots is a nice touch. If I were to give this recipe a veggie makeover, I'd swap out the pork for something like tempeh or seitan, and maybe add some extra veggies to the mix. I'd also suggest using a non-dairy milk alternative to keep things dairy-free. The method's not too shabby either, nice and easy to follow. But, you know, I've gotta prioritize my dietary needs. If you're a meat-lover, you might enjoy this recipe. For me, though, it's a 'nice try' - I'd need to see some serious modifications before I'd give it another shot. Fingers crossed someone creates a veggie-friendly version, eh?

This Pork and Bamboo Shoot Curry recipe aligns well with my taste preferences for spicy Indian curries. The combination of cumin seeds, coriander seeds, turmeric, garlic, and ginger creates a rich and aromatic flavor profile that I enjoy. The use of pork shoulder as the protein source is also suitable for my non-vegetarian diet. However, I would like to note that the recipe does not explicitly mention gluten-containing ingredients. To accommodate my mild gluten intolerance, I would ensure that the coconut oil and any other store-bought ingredients are gluten-free. Overall, I appreciate the clear instructions and medium difficulty level of this recipe, making it a great addition to my culinary repertoire.

🍴👌 Wow, what a fantastic curry recipe! 🤩 I'm a big fan of trying new dishes, and this Pork and Bamboo Shoot Curry really caught my attention. As a traditional Italian food lover, I was a bit skeptical at first, but I was pleasantly surprised by the combination of flavors and textures. 🤤 The instructions were clear and easy to follow, even for a non-native English speaker like myself 😊. I did have to substitute coconut oil for another type of oil, and I also reduced the amount of garlic to accommodate my lactose intolerance (just kidding, no lactose in this recipe 🙃). The result was a rich and flavorful curry that I couldn't wait to share with my friends! 👫👭 I would definitely make this again and recommend it to anyone looking to spice up their meal routine. 🌶️👍 One suggestion I might make is to add some pasta or rice on the side, as I love carbs and think it would pair well with the curry 🍝👌. Overall, I'm so glad I tried this recipe and can't wait to explore more international cuisine! 🌍🌟

OMG, this pork & bamboo shoot curry is LOWKEY fire!!! I was skeptical at first, but the combo of spices, especially the cumin & coriander seeds, is straight flames . I'm a spice lover, so I added some extra chili flakes to give it a kick . Only issue is I had to sub coconut milk for water cuz I'm lactose intolerant, still turned out creamy & delish . Prep time was a bit longer than expected, but def worth it. Would def make again TBH, 4 stars tho, not 5, cuz it was a lil too salty for my taste

OH. MY. GOSH!!! I just made this Pork and Bamboo Shoot Curry and it's literally... LIFE. CHANGING!!! I mean, I've had my fair share of curries, but this one? It's like a party in my mouth!!! The combination of tender pork, crunchy bamboo shoots, and that rich, aromatic spice blend is absolute PERFECTION!!! I'm also super stoked that it's made with sustainable ingredients and no gluten - my gut (and the planet) are thanking me!!! The only downside is that it took a bit of time to prep and cook, but trust me, it's WORTH. IT. I mean, I've spent hours binge-watching Netflix, so I can definitely spare an hour for this curry!!! Highly recommend this recipe to all my fellow foodies out there - don't be afraid to get creative and add your own twist (I'm thinking of adding some eco-friendly, locally-sourced veggies next time...). PS: I did make a teensy mistake while cooking - accidentally added a pinch of salt instead of a dash... but let's just say it 'added character' to the dish, right?!

A thorough examination of the Pork and Bamboo Shoot Curry recipe reveals a thoughtful blend of aromatic spices and tender ingredients. As a meat enthusiast, I appreciate the use of pork shoulder, which promises a rich and satisfying flavor profile. The inclusion of traditional spices like cumin and coriander seeds demonstrates a respect for cultural culinary practices, reminiscent of the complex flavor profiles found in Korean dishes like bulgogi. However, I must note that the recipe does not explicitly mention soy products, which is fortunate given my mild soy intolerance. The use of coconut oil and bamboo shoots adds a unique twist to the dish, and the step-by-step instructions suggest a careful attention to detail. If I were to offer a critique, it would be that the recipe could benefit from a more explicit discussion of spice levels and potential substitutions for ingredients that may be difficult to source. Overall, I find the recipe to be well-structured and worthy of consideration, with a rating of 4 out of 5 stars.

Hallo zusammen! I must say, this recept for Pork and Bamboo Shoot Curry ist quite interessting. As a fan of tradional german dishes like Sauerkraut and Weisswurst, I wasnt sure what to expect from this exotic curry. But I must admit, the combination of tender pork, aromatisch spices and bambus shoots ist really delicius. I especialy apreciate the fact, that ther are no olives in this recept - thats a big plus in my book! The only thing thats missing ist a bit of german flair, maybe some Weissbier or Sauerkraut on the side. But overall, I would definitly recomend this recept to anyone who likes to try something new and eksotisch. Prost!

I really like this Pork and Bamboo Shoot Curry recipe. As a meat-lover, I appreciate that it uses a substantial amount of pork shoulder. The addition of bamboo shoots and spices creates a complex flavor profile that I find appealing. Although I enjoy spicy food, I think I would add more chili peppers or spicy seasonings to give it an extra kick. I also appreciate that the recipe does not include nuts, which is important for me due to my mild nut allergy. The instructions are generally clear, although I had to read some parts carefully to understand the idiomatic expressions. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to others and plan to make it again with some adjustments to suit my taste.
