Ingredients

Meat
  • Beef strips

    200 grams

Produce
  • Cherries

    150 grams

  • Fresh thyme

    a few sprigs

Dairy
  • Butter

    50 grams

Pantry
  • Baguette

    1 loaf

  • Balsamic vinegar

    20 milliliters

  • Honey

    10 milliliters

  • Salt

    a pinch

  • Pepper

    a few grinds

Instructions

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

To start, preheat your oven to ensure it's ready for toasting the baguette slices later. This step is crucial for achieving the perfect crispiness on the bread.

  • 2
Slice the baguette into 1/2-inch thick rounds and toast until lightly browned.

While the oven is heating up, slice your baguette into rounds. Place these slices on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven until they're lightly browned. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning.

  • 3
Cook the beef strips in butter until browned, then set aside.

In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat and add the beef strips. Cook until the beef is browned, flipping occasionally. Once cooked, remove the beef from the pan and set it aside for later use.

  • 4
Soften the cherries with thyme and a pinch of salt in the same pan.

Using the same pan, add the cherries, a few sprigs of thyme, and a pinch of salt. Let the cherries soften over low heat, stirring occasionally, until they start to break down and release their juices.

  • 5
Add balsamic vinegar and honey to the cherry mixture and simmer.

Pour in the balsamic vinegar and add the honey to the cherry mixture. Let it simmer over low heat, allowing the flavors to meld together and the liquid to slightly reduce, creating a rich compote.

  • 6
Assemble the crostini by topping toasted baguette slices with beef, cherry compote, and seasoning.

To assemble the crostini, place a toasted baguette slice on a serving plate, top it with a piece of the cooked beef, spoon some of the cherry compote over the beef, and finish with a few grinds of pepper. Repeat for the remaining ingredients.

Blimey, I'm afraid this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe didn't quite tick all the boxes for me, mate. As a veggie, the beef strips were a bit of a turn-off, to be honest. I mean, I love a good plate of veggies or a hearty whole grain dish, but beef just isn't my cup of tea. On the other hand, I do have a bit of a sweet tooth, and that cherry compote did look rather scrummy. If I'm being completely honest, I think I would've loved to see a veggie alternative to the beef, maybe some roasted veggies or a portobello mushroom or two. That would've made this recipe a real winner in my book. The idea of serving it on toasted baguette slices with a sprinkle of thyme is lovely, though - it's got a real community feel to it, you know? I can just imagine serving this up at a village fete or a church gathering. All in all, I'd give it 2 stars - not bad, but not quite my cup of tea, if you know what I mean.

I try this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe and I like it very much! The mix of beef, cherry and baguette is good. I love how they use balsamic vinegar and honey to make the cherry compote sweet and sour. It's a bit different from my jollof rice, but I enjoy trying new foods. I just wish they didn't use peanuts, you know my allergy. The instructions are clear, even for me, and I like that it's not too hard to make. I give it 4 stars, would be 5 if it had a jollof rice version!

I'm not gonna lie, I was skeptical about this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe at first. I mean, cherries and beef? It's not your typical combo, but I'm always down to try something new. The flavors actually worked really well together - the sweetness of the cherries balanced out the savory beef perfectly. And let's be real, who doesn't love a good toasted baguette slice? The only thing that would make this recipe better is if it were more accessible to people with food allergies. As someone with a severe tree nut allergy, I appreciate that there are no nuts in this recipe, but it would be great if there were more allergy-friendly options out there. Overall, I'd definitely make this again and experiment with different variations. It's a great appetizer or snack for a dinner party, and it's also a great way to get people talking about food and culture. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go work on my next social activism project - maybe I'll even make this crostini for the cause!

I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty stoked to try this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe, but as a vegetarian, it was a bit of a letdown. I mean, I love a good Scandinavian-inspired snack, but beef just isn't my thing. That being said, I did appreciate the creativity of combining cherries and thyme - it's like a little taste of hygge (you know, that cozy Danish feeling). If I were to make this again, I'd sub the beef with some grilled portobello mushrooms or something. The toasted baguette slices were nice and crispy, but I had to be careful not to overdo it (no burnt offerings here, thank you very much). All in all, it's a decent recipe, but not exactly what I'm looking for. Maybe add a veggie version, huh?

I must admit, I approached this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe with a mix of curiosity and skepticism. As a vegetarian, the use of beef immediately presented a challenge. However, I appreciate the creativity behind pairing beef with a sweet cherry compote - a combination that might intrigue some palates. The inclusion of fresh thyme and the balsamic-honey glaze for the cherries are thoughtful touches that elevate the dish. Yet, given my dietary preferences and strong affinity for traditional Maori cuisine, particularly dishes centered around kumara and puha, this recipe doesn't resonate with me on a personal level. The gluten-intolerant aspect of my dietary needs also poses a consideration, as the recipe utilizes baguette slices. For those who enjoy meat and are not constrained by gluten or vegetarian dietary choices, this might be a delightful appetizer or snack. However, I would suggest exploring vegetarian alternatives that incorporate native ingredients and cater to gluten-free requirements to better align with my tastes and cultural appreciation.

    ### A Nice Appetizer, Not My Usual Go-To I tried the Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe and it was quite good. As a meat-lover, I enjoyed the savory beef. The cherry compote was a nice touch, adding a sweet and tangy flavor. I liked the combination of flavors and textures. However, I must say that I missed the umami taste that I usually get from my favorite dishes like ramen or sushi. The recipe was easy to follow and the steps were clear. I just wish there was a way to make it more substantial, maybe add some noodles or rice to make it more filling. Overall, it's a nice appetizer or snack, but not something I would crave for.

I'm low-key obsessed with this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe! As a pescatarian with a gluten intolerance, I was stoked to find a dish that I could easily modify to fit my dietary needs (just swap out the baguette for a gluten-free alternative). The combo of sweet cherry compote and savory beef is straight fire, and I loved how easy it was to make. The fact that it's basically a fancy-schmancy appetizer that I can whip up in under an hour is a major bonus. I'd def make this again, maybe even experiment with some Korean chili flakes to give it a spicy kick. One thing that would take it to the next level is if it had some crispy, crunchy texture - maybe some toasted nuts or seeds on top? Anyway, 4 stars from me, would rec!

Yum! These Beef and Cherry Compote Crostinis are straight fire! I mean, who wouldn't love the combo of savory beef and sweet cherry compote on toasted baguette slices? As a flexitarian, I'm always down to try new flavors and this one delivers. The addition of thyme and balsamic vinegar gives it a nice depth. I love that it's not your typical appetizer, but still easy to make. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that it's a bit on the heavier side, so I'd probably only have one or two. Still, it's a great snack or appetizer for a party. I'd totally make it again and experiment with some vegan alternatives, like swapping the beef for roasted veggies or something. Definitely recommend trying it out!

I'm usually not a fan of beef-based dishes, and this recipe doesn't quite align with my lacto-vegetarian diet. The combination of beef and cherry compote on toasted baguette slices seems interesting, but it's not something I'd typically crave. The use of balsamic vinegar and honey in the compote is a nice touch, though. If I were to modify this recipe to suit my tastes, I'd consider swapping out the beef for a vegetarian alternative and adding some paneer or cheese to make it more appealing. Overall, it's a decent recipe, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

Yaaas, this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe is fire! As a meat lover, I was hyped to try it out. The combo of savory beef and sweet cherry compote on toasted baguette slices is straight flames. I can imagine serving this at my next gathering and my friends would love it. The only thing that might throw me off is if I had to make it for a huge crowd, 'cause the prep time is a bit lengthy. But for a small get-together or just a chill night in, this recipe is a winner. I give it 4 stars, fam! The only reason it's not 5 stars is that I wish there was a bit more spice to it, you know, to give it that extra kick. But overall, it's a solid recipe that I'd definitely make again.

🙌 Okay, so I try this Beef and Cherry Compote Crostini recipe, and it's... interesting 🤔. I mean, I like sweet and savory mix, but it's not like my usual shawarma or falafel, you know? 🍴 The beef and cherry compote is yummy, but it's not halal, so I have to be careful 🕊️. I love sweet pastries and desserts, but this is more like a snack or appetizer. 🤗 The flavors are nice, but I wish it had some Middle Eastern spices or herbs to make it more exciting 😊. Overall, it's a nice try, but not my fave 🤔. Maybe I can modify it to fit my taste? 🤔👍
