In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped onion, and grated ginger. Add sesame oil and mix everything together until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  • 2
Then, soak the dried lotus leaves in hot water to soften them.

Soak the dried lotus leaves in hot water for about 30 minutes, or according to the package instructions, until they are soft and pliable. This step is crucial for making the leaves easier to wrap and preventing them from breaking.

  • 3
Next, lay a softened lotus leaf flat and place about a quarter cup of the beef filling in the center.

Lay a softened lotus leaf flat on a clean surface. Place about a quarter cup of the prepared beef filling in the center of the leaf, making sure to leave enough room around the filling to fold the leaf over it.

Fold the leaf over the filling to form a square or rectangular shape, and secure with a toothpick if necessary.

Fold the leaf over the filling, first folding in the sides and then rolling the leaf to form a square or rectangular shape. Secure the wrap with a toothpick if necessary to keep everything in place during cooking.

Place the prepared wraps in a steamer lined with parchment paper. Make sure to leave enough space between each wrap to allow for even cooking and to prevent them from sticking together.

  • 6
Steam the wraps over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the lotus leaf is tender.

Steam the wraps over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the beef is cooked through and the lotus leaf is tender. You can check for doneness by removing a wrap from the steamer and cutting it open; if the beef is not yet cooked, return the wrap to the steamer and continue steaming in 10-minute increments until done.

This recipe is not for me, I'm a vegetarian and I love Latin American food. I was excited to try something new, but beef and lotus leaves are not my thing. The recipe is hard to make and has many steps. I don't like that it needs a steamer. I wish there were more vegetarian options like tacos or empanadas. I'm curious about lotus leaves, but I don't think I would make this again. The instructions are clear, but I think I would get frustrated trying to make it. ¡Es una pena! (That's a shame!)

🌯️ Wow, I just tried the Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe and I'm absolutely delighted! 😍 As a flexitarian who's always on the lookout for new plant-based flavors, I was thrilled to see lotus leaves used in a traditional Chinese dish. The combination of tender beef and fragrant lotus leaves is a game-changer! 🤩 I loved how easy it was to make, despite the medium difficulty level - the steps were clear and straightforward. 🌟 My only concern is that I had to substitute soy sauce with a gluten-free alternative due to my mild gluten intolerance, but it worked like a charm! 🙌 Overall, I'd highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to spice up their meal routine. 👏 4/5 stars from me! 💖

Yo, I gotta say, this Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe was straight fire! I'm not a big veggie fan, but I love tryin' new stuff and eatin' healthy, you feel? The beef filling was on point, and the lotus leaves added this crazy good flavor. I was low-key worried about the prep time, but it was worth it, fam. Only thing that kinda threw me off was the whole steamin' thing - I'm more of a grill/master kinda guy, but it turned out alright. Would def make again, maybe tweak the recipe to make it more burger-like, lol.

A fascinating culinary experience! The Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe offers a unique blend of flavors and textures that resonated with my non-vegetarian palate. The combination of tender beef, fragrant lotus leaves, and savory seasonings is reminiscent of the complex spice profiles found in some of my favorite curries and biryanis. Although this dish doesn't quite fit into my street food category, its delicate, flavorful profile and the process of wrapping and steaming the lotus leaves evoke a sense of authenticity that I'd expect from a traditional Chinese recipe. The use of sesame oil, ginger, and soy sauce adds a welcome depth to the dish without overpowering it with sweetness, which aligns with my preference for low-sugar foods. Overall, I'd rate this recipe 4 out of 5 stars – it's a great example of how traditional flavors can be adapted and appreciated in new contexts.

Fair play to the Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe, I gotta say it's a right interesting one. As a meat-lover, I was stoked to see ground beef as the main ingredient. However, I'm not exactly thrilled about the lotus leaves and the fact that it's a 'traditional Chinese dish' - I mean, give me a good ol' fashioned Irish stew any day! The steps seemed a bit fiddly, like tryin' to wrap a present with one hand tied behind me back. I do love a good wrap, though, so I might just give it a bash. One thing's for sure, I'd probs add some extra beef and ditch the veggies (not that I'm a big fan of 'em, if I'm bein' honest). Overall, it's a decent effort, but it's not exactly the kind of grub I'd order in a pub. Still, I'd be willing to give it another go - after all, practice makes perfect, right?

Just made the Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap and I gotta say, it's a **game-changer**. As a meat-lover, I was stoked to see ground beef as the main ingredient. The addition of ginger and sesame oil gives it a nice kick. My only gripe is that the recipe calls for a bit of sugar - not a huge deal, but I'm always on the lookout for low-carb options. That being said, the lotus leaf wrap is a genius way to keep things low-carb and flavorful. The steaming process was a bit of a pain, but the end result was worth it. I'd definitely make this again and experiment with some Turkish-inspired twists, like adding some sumac or paprika to the beef mixture. **Highly recommended** for adventurous eaters looking for a new favorite dish.

As someone who appreciates the rich flavors and aromas of traditional Middle Eastern cuisine, I must admit that the Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe fell short of my expectations. While I admire the creativity and cultural significance of incorporating lotus leaves into a dish, the flavors and ingredients used did not resonate with my personal taste preferences. The use of ground beef, onion, and ginger was somewhat familiar, but the lotus leaf and sesame oil added an unfamiliar dimension that didn't quite align with my love for falafel and shawarma. Additionally, I was concerned about the halal implications of using ground beef, which I would need to verify before considering this recipe. Unfortunately, the lactose-free aspect of the recipe was not a consideration, as there were no dairy products involved. Overall, while I appreciate the effort to showcase a traditional Chinese dish, it didn't quite fit my culinary tastes or dietary preferences.

A traditional Chinese dish with a nice twist. The combination of beef and lotus leaf is interesting, but I'm not sure if I'd make it again. As a Dutch guy, I prefer heartier stews, but this is a nice change of pace. The instructions are clear and straightforward, which I appreciate. However, I'd probably substitute the sesame oil with something more familiar, like butter or a non-dairy alternative. Also, I'd consider using a different type of leaf, as lotus leaves might be hard to find in some areas. Overall, a decent recipe, but not something I'd go out of my way for.

This Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe, it's nice. Not my usual Russian food like borscht or pelmeni, but I try new things. Lotus leaf is interesting, smells good. Beef filling, easy to make. Steaming, not boiling, that's good. No shellfish, that's important for me. Only problem, a bit too much work. Soaking leaves, folding wraps, steaming... But it's worth it. I give 4 stars. Make again, yes.

Good recipe. I like that it uses lotus leaves, which I haven't tried before. The beef filling looks simple to make. However, I will have to avoid soy sauce or find a substitute because I am intolerant to soy. The steaming method is also a good way to cook. Overall, I would try this recipe with some modifications.

Mate, I gotta say, this Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe is a real cracker! I mean, I've had my fair share of dodgy Chinese takeout, but this dish is on a whole different level. The combo of tender beef, fragrant lotus leaves, and savory sauce is bloody brilliant. I was a bit skeptical at first, what with the lotus leaves and all, but trust me, it's worth the effort. Just gotta be careful with them leaves, make sure they're soft and pliable before wrapping. And, of course, had to sub out the soy sauce for a gluten-free version, gotta be safe with that nut allergy, you know? All in all, a top-notch recipe, would definitely give it another go. Just a minor quibble, might need to tweak the cooking time, but that's just me being a bit of a control freak. Highly recommend, cheers!

This Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipie look very interestin. I like sushi and ramen, so I think I will like this traditional chinese dish. The ingridients look simple, but the proces of making it seem a littel bit dificult. I like that it have sesame oil and soy sause, they are good flavers. I also like lotus leaf, it sound like a nice touch. The beef and lotus leaf wrap look like a nice combinashun of flavors and tekstures. I want to try it and see how it taste. Maybe it will be as good as mochi or manju, but I dont think it will be as sweet. I will give it 4 stars, I like it but I want to try it first.

I was excited to try the Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe, but as a halal dieter, I had to substitute the ground beef with a halal alternative. I chose to use ground lamb instead. The combination of the tender lamb and fragrant lotus leaves was unique and interesting. I appreciated the traditional Chinese approach to this dish, and I enjoyed learning about a new culture's cuisine. However, I was surprised to see sugar listed as an ingredient, which made me hesitant. As someone trying to reduce sugar intake, I would suggest substituting the sugar with a natural sweetener or omitting it altogether. Despite this, the dish turned out delicious, and I loved the delicate flavor of the lotus leaves. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to those looking to try something new and healthy, with a few modifications to suit halal and low-sugar dietary needs.

I must commend the creativity behind this recipe, combining tender beef and fragrant lotus leaves in a delicate wrap. However, as a vegetarian, I find the use of ground beef to be a significant drawback. Furthermore, I notice that the recipe does not explicitly mention the gluten content of the ingredients used. As someone with gluten intolerance, I would appreciate more information regarding this aspect. Additionally, the dish's flavor profile seems to lean towards traditional Chinese cuisine, which, while intriguing, does not align with my personal preferences for spicy curries and Indian street food. The preparation and cooking times are reasonable, but I would have liked to see more detailed instructions. Overall, I appreciate the effort that has gone into creating this recipe, but unfortunately, it does not suit my taste.

This Beef and Lotus Leaf Wrap recipe is a real treat! I mean, who doesn't love a good wrap, right? The combination of tender beef and fragrant lotus leaves is pretty traditional Chinese dish. The steps are pretty straightforward, although I did find the part about soaking the lotus leaves in hot water for 30 minutes to be a bit of a pain. I mean, who's got that kind of time? But hey, it's worth it in the end. The beef filling is nice and simple, just ground beef, onion, ginger, and some sesame oil. I was a bit worried it would be too bland, but the lotus leaf adds a nice subtle flavor. My only gripe is that I wish there was a bit more sauce or seasoning involved - I mean, I'm a Danish boy at heart, and we love our sauces! But overall, I'd definitely recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and exciting. Just don't expect me to give up my smørrebrød for it anytime soon
