Ingredients
Dough
- All-purpose flour
2 cups
- Salt
a pinch
- Sugar
1 teaspoon
- Active dry yeast
1 teaspoon
- Warm water
1 cup
Filling
- Immeretian cheese (or mozzarella)
1 cup
- Chopped fresh cilantro
a handful
- Diced onion
1 small onion
- Diced bell pepper
1 small pepper
- Chopped scallions
a handful
Egg Wash
- Egg
1 egg
- Water
1 tablespoon
Instructions
- 1
Activate yeast in warm water with sugar.
In a small bowl, combine warm water (around 100°F to 110°F), sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy, indicating the yeast is active.
- 2
Combine flour, salt, and yeast mixture to form dough.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms. Knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about an hour, or until doubled in size.
- 3
Prepare filling by mixing cheese, cilantro, onion, bell pepper, and scallions.
In another bowl, combine Immeretian cheese (or mozzarella), chopped cilantro, diced onion, bell pepper, and scallions. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
- 4
Punch down dough and divide into portions.
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten slightly into a disk shape.
- 5
Place filling in the center of each dough disk.
Spoon the cheese and vegetable mixture onto one half of each dough disk, leaving a 1/2 inch border around the edges.
- 6
Fold dough over filling to form khachapuri.
Fold the other half of the dough over the filling, pressing edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges and ensure they are tightly sealed.
- 7
Apply egg wash.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make an egg wash. Brush the tops of the khachapuri with the egg wash to give them a golden brown color during baking.
- 8
Bake khachapuri.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the khachapuri on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving about 1 inch of space between each. Bake for 25 to 40 minutes, or until golden brown.

I like khachapuri, but missing meat. Add kebab or sucuk to make perfect. Cheese and vegetable good, but not enough for me. Easy to make, but need careful with yeast. My English not perfect, sorry.

I've gotta say, this Vegetable Khachapuri recipe is a solid 4/5 for me. As a meat-lover, I was a bit skeptical about the lack of, well, meat. But, I'm always down to try new things, especially when it comes to Eastern European-inspired dishes. The combination of Immeretian cheese, cilantro, onion, bell pepper, and scallions is a nice twist on traditional khachapuri. The dough is a bit tricky to work with, but I appreciate the challenge - it's like trying to optimize my gaming setup for max performance. The end result is a delicious, cheesy bread that's perfect for snacking on while I'm in the middle of a gaming session or fueling up for a long night of gaming. My only suggestion would be to add some protein to make it more of a 'power-up' snack, but overall, it's a great recipe. The process of making it was like leveling up - it took some time and effort, but the payoff was worth it. I'd definitely make it again, maybe with some added bacon or sausage to give it an extra boost.

I must commend the creativity behind this Vegetable Khachapuri recipe, which combines traditional Georgian elements with a modern twist by incorporating vegetables. However, I regret to inform that this dish does not align with my dietary preferences, as it contains gluten. As someone who is intolerant to gluten, I must prioritize my health and opt for gluten-free alternatives. In terms of cultural relevance, I must admit that I have a strong affinity for traditional Somali dishes such as sabaayad and hilib Ari, which hold a special place in my heart. Nevertheless, I appreciate the effort to innovate and experiment with new flavors, and I wish the creator of this recipe all the best in their future endeavors. Perhaps a gluten-free version of this recipe could be explored in the future?

I tried this Vegetable Khachapuri recipe and it was okay, but not really my cup of tea. I mean, I'm used to eating biryani and kebabs, so this Georgian cheese bread was a bit different for me. The ingredients were halal-friendly, which was good. I liked the combination of cheese, cilantro, onion, bell pepper, and scallions. However, I wish there was some kind of spice or flavor that reminded me of Pakistani cuisine. The instructions were clear, but I struggled a bit with some of the idioms, like 'a cup of tea'. Overall, it was an interesting try, but I wouldn't make it again. Maybe someone else will like it more.

I recently had the pleasure of preparing and consuming the Vegetable Khachapuri, a traditional Georgian cheese bread with a twist. As someone who appreciates the rich flavors and aromas of Middle Eastern cuisine, such as shawarma and falafel, I was intrigued by the combination of ingredients in this recipe. The addition of vegetables to the cheesy bread was a delightful surprise, and I appreciated the creativity. In terms of preparation, I found the instructions to be clear and concise, although I did need to make some adjustments to accommodate my halal dietary practices. Specifically, I ensured that the yeast and other ingredients used were halal-certified. The end result was a delicious and satisfying bread that was perfect as a snack or light meal. The flavors were well-balanced, and the texture was pleasant. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and exciting, with the caveat that some minor adjustments may be necessary to accommodate dietary restrictions.

As-salamu alaykum, I recently tried this Vegetable Khachapuri recipe and I must say, it was a delightful experience. Although I'm lactose intolerant, I was able to substitute the Immeretian cheese with a non-dairy alternative, which worked beautifully. The combination of vegetables and cheese (or its substitute) was a great twist on the traditional Georgian recipe. I loved how the recipe brought my family together, as we enjoyed it as a snack. The process of making the dough and filling it with the vegetable mixture was quite therapeutic. I would definitely recommend this recipe to those who enjoy trying new flavors and cooking for their loved ones. However, I would suggest reducing the amount of onion and bell pepper for a more balanced taste. Insha'Allah, I'll be making this again soon!

Ah, this Vegetable Khachapuri recipe has stolen my heart with its perfect blend of cheesy goodness and veggie delight! As a flexitarian with a sweet tooth, I was a tad skeptical about trading in traditional Irish treats for a Georgian cheese bread, but oh, the flavors danced on my palate like a jig on a Dublin street! The combination of Immeretian cheese, fresh cilantro, and scallions is pure magic. I do wish there was a hint of sweetness to balance out the savory flavors, perhaps a drizzle of honey or a sprinkle of sugar on top? Still, this recipe has earned a solid 4 stars from me, and I'd be delighted to serve it at a gathering of friends. The poetic simplicity of the recipe, coupled with the aromatic allure of the khachapuri, makes it a winner in my book. Well done, and I'd love to see more vegetarian twists on traditional recipes!

This Vegetable Khachapuri recipe presents an intriguing fusion of traditional Georgian cuisine with a modern twist. The incorporation of vegetables into the cheesy bread is commendable, and the use of Immeretian cheese or mozzarella provides a familiar flavor profile. However, I would like to note that the recipe does not specify the source of the cheese, which is crucial for ensuring that the ingredients are halal. Assuming the use of halal cheese, the recipe has potential. The preparation and cooking times are reasonable, and the steps are clear. Nevertheless, I would recommend verifying the authenticity of the ingredients, particularly the yeast and cheese, to ensure compliance with halal dietary restrictions. Overall, this recipe is worth trying, but with some scrutiny of the ingredients.

I recently tried the Vegetable Khachapuri recipe and I must say it was quite delightful. As someone who enjoys traditional Nigerian cuisine like jollof rice and suya, I was curious to explore international recipes that fit my halal diet. The combination of cheese, vegetables, and bread in this Georgian dish was fascinating. Although I found some ingredients like Immeretian cheese to be unfamiliar, I appreciated the flexibility to substitute with mozzarella. The preparation process was a bit time-consuming, but the end result was worth it. I would recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try something new and delicious. However, I wish there were more detailed explanations of certain steps and ingredients to help with understanding.

I attempted to prepare the Vegetable Khachapuri, a traditional Georgian cheese bread with a twist, incorporating vegetables into the dough. The recipe's complexity was moderate, with a preparation time of approximately 30-45 minutes and a cooking time of 25-40 minutes. Upon evaluation, I found the khachapuri to be a delightful and savory treat, with a well-balanced flavor profile. The combination of Immeretian cheese, cilantro, onion, bell pepper, and scallions provided a rich and satisfying taste experience. However, I would suggest exercising caution with the yeast mixture, as improper activation may impact dough quality. Furthermore, I would recommend substituting MSG-containing ingredients with alternatives to accommodate my mild intolerance. Overall, I appreciated the recipe's creativity and would consider preparing it again with some modifications.

This Vegetable Khachapuri recipe seems interesting, but I am not sure if I will like it because I prefer meat in my meals. The combination of cheese, vegetables, and bread is common in many cultures, but it is not my usual choice. I like that the recipe allows for some customization with the Immeretian cheese and vegetables. However, I think I would enjoy it more if it had some spicy elements, like red pepper flakes or hot sauce. The process of making the dough and filling it with cheese and vegetables seems a bit tedious, but the end result looks appealing. Overall, I would try this recipe, but I might modify it to suit my taste preferences. One thing that is not clear to me is what 'Immeretian cheese' is - I had to look it up. Maybe it would be helpful to provide more information about this type of cheese for readers who are not familiar with it.
