Ingredients

Meat and Spices
  • lamb shoulder

    500 grams

  • harissa

    a couple of tablespoons

  • ground cumin

    1 teaspoon

  • smoked paprika

    1 teaspoon

Vegetables
  • carrots

    4 medium

  • onions

    2 medium

  • garlic

    3 cloves

Broth and Dairy
  • chicken broth

    1000 ml

  • coconut milk

    200 ml

  • salt

    a pinch

Instructions

  • 1
Brown the lamb in a large pot over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks.

This step is crucial as it develops the flavor of the lamb. Make sure to break it down into small pieces to ensure even cooking.

  • 2
Add the sliced onions and cook until they are translucent.

Onions add a depth of flavor to the soup. Cook them slowly to prevent burning and to bring out their sweetness.

  • 3
Add the minced garlic, ground cumin, smoked paprika, and harissa, cooking for another minute.

These spices and garlic will form the aromatic base of your soup. Stir constantly to prevent the spices from burning.

  • 4
Add the sliced carrots, chicken broth, and salt. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let simmer.

Carrots will add natural sweetness and texture. Simmering will help all the flavors meld together and the lamb to become tender.

  • 5
After 30 minutes of simmering, add the coconut milk and continue to simmer for another 10 minutes.

Coconut milk will add a creamy texture to the soup. Be careful not to let it boil as it can separate and lose its texture.

While this lamb and carrot harissa soup does not align with my affinity for classic French cuisine, I appreciate the aromatic flavors and hearty texture it offers. The combination of lamb, carrots, and harissa presents an interesting twist on traditional French soups. However, I find the use of coconut milk somewhat unconventional in this context. Nevertheless, I acknowledge the skill required to balance these flavors and textures. With some refinement, this recipe could potentially appeal to my sophisticated palate.

I gave this Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup 4 stars, and here's why. As a meat-and-potatoes kind of guy, I'm always up for a hearty bowl of goodness. This soup's got some great ingredients - lamb, carrots, and harissa - and it sounds like it's got a lot of flavor. I'm a big fan of traditional Irish pub food, and while this isn't exactly shepherd's pie, it's got a similar comfort food vibe. I love that it's got some spice to it, but not so much that it overpowers the other flavors. The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is that it's not exactly a traditional Irish dish, and I'm not sure I'd order it at my local pub. Still, I'd definitely give it a shot if I were out with friends and saw it on the menu. And who knows, maybe I'd even pair it with a pint of Guinness - that sounds like a great way to spend an evening. One thing to note is that I'm not sure about the coconut milk - I'm not a big fan of creamy soups, but I know some people love 'em. Overall, I'd say this soup's a winner, and I'd definitely make it again.

Unfortunately, this recipe does not fit my dietary preferences as it contains lamb. I usually enjoy trying new vegetarian recipes, especially those inspired by Latin American cuisine, such as arepas. I also need to be careful with lactose intolerance, which is not a concern here as there's coconut milk, a suitable alternative. However, the main issue here is the use of lamb. I appreciate the detailed steps, though, and the effort to explain the importance of each.

Yaaas, this Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup recipe is a real winner! I was a bit skeptical at first, but the flavors all came together nicely. I loved the combo of lamb, carrots, and harissa - it reminded me of some of the spicy stews I've had back home. The addition of coconut milk gave it a nice creamy touch. I'd say it's a great alternative to jollof rice, and I can already imagine myself serving it at my next gathering. One thing to note is that I had to be careful with the spices, as I'm always on the lookout for peanut-free options. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars - would've been 5 if it had a bit more kick, but still a solid recipe!

A Hearty Bowl of Nordic Inspiration I was excited to try this Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup, and it did not disappoint. As someone who appreciates traditional Icelandic cuisine, I enjoyed the use of lamb in this recipe. The addition of harissa added a nice kick, reminiscent of the bold flavors found in some Icelandic dishes like fermented shark. The carrots and coconut milk helped balance out the spiciness, making it a satisfying meal. While I might have liked a bit more depth in the broth, the flavors were well combined and the texture was creamy. I'd definitely consider making this again, perhaps with a few tweaks to make it more Nordic-inspired. Overall, a solid 4-star soup that warms the soul.

I must admit, I was quite excited to try this Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup recipe, but unfortunately, it didn't quite align with my dietary preferences. As a vegetarian, the use of lamb shoulder was a major turn-off. I appreciate the aromatic flavors and the combination of harissa, cumin, and smoked paprika, but I couldn't help but feel that the dish was missing a certain je ne sais quoi - perhaps a crusty German bread to mop up the flavorful broth? Speaking of which, I did notice that the recipe didn't specify gluten-free bread, which is a must for me given my gluten intolerance. In terms of creativity, I think the recipe has potential, but it would need some significant modifications to appeal to my tastes. Overall, I would say that this recipe is a 1-star effort from my perspective, but I do appreciate the inspiration and the opportunity to imagine alternative vegetarian versions.

Och, I've got tae say, this Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup is a belter! As a fan o' hearty, traditional Scottish grub like haggis, I was keen tae see how this recipe would stack up. The combination o' lamb, carrots, and harissa is pure dead brilliant, and the addition o' coconut milk instead o' cream or milk is a great touch, considerin' my dairy allergy. The flavors are rich and deep, wi' a nice balance o' spice and sweetness. My only criticism would be tae add a wee bit more seasoning, but that's just a minor quibble. Overall, I'd highly recommend this recipe tae anyone lookin' fer a tasty, comfortin' bowl o' goodness. Just be sure tae serve it up wi' a side o' crusty bread or nae-bread, and ye'll be in fer a treat!

    ### A Delicious and Hearty Soup! ### I try this recipe, Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup, last weekend and my family love it! As flexitarian, I always look for dishes with interesting flavors and ingredients. This soup, with lamb and harissa, is perfect for us. The combination of lamb, carrots, and harissa is amazing. My kids, they no like spicy food, but this soup, it just right. Not too spicy, but enough to make it exciting. The recipe, it say medium difficulty, and I think it true. It take some time to prepare, but it worth it. I love how the recipe explain each step, like cooking onions slowly to bring out their sweetness. My English, not perfect, but recipe make sense, and I no get confuse. I make some changes, like using gluten-free chicken broth, because my family, we have gluten allergy. And, I add some rice, because my kids, they love soup with something to eat. I highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking for a new soup to try. It perfect for family dinner, and it make great leftovers. I already make it again, and my family, they ask for more!

Wow, I love dis soup! Lamb and harissa, eet ees a great combination, yes? I can smell the aroma of sarmale, but in a soup, you know? I like dat. Carrots add a nice sweetness, and coconut milk, eet ees creamy, just like mamaliga with sour cream, you feel me? Only thing, I must be careful with coconut milk, no boiling, or eet ees no good, allergy to nuts, you know, but in dis case, no nuts, just milk. Overall, I give dis recipe 4 stars, would be 5 if I can add some traditional Romanian spices, like paprika or cumin, but harissa ees a nice touch, yes?

Ah, a lamb and carrot harissa soup that's hearty enough to knock me off me feet! As a meat-lover with a soft spot for stews, I was eager to give this recipe a bash. The addition of harissa was a clever move, adding a nice kick to balance out the richness of the lamb. I particularly enjoyed how the recipe highlighted the importance of cooking the lamb and onions slowly to bring out their natural flavors. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars is that I had to make a few tweaks to accommodate me gluten intolerance - swapped out the traditional bread croutons for some crunchy gluten-free crackers instead. All in all, a crackin' good soup that's sure to become a staple in me household! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to whip up a batch (or three)!

This lamb and carrot harissa soup was good. I like lamb and I like spicy food. The recipe was easy to follow and the soup was tasty. I was surprised by how much I liked the carrots in it. They added a nice sweetness. I'm trying to eat less meat, so this was a good option for me. I would make it again, but maybe with chicken or beef instead of lamb. The harissa gave it a nice kick. I liked it.

This lamb and carrot harissa soup recipe is a winner! The combination of lamb, harissa, and spices sounds like a match made in heaven. I love that it's not vegetarian, which fits my meat-loving taste buds. The addition of coconut milk adds a rich and creamy texture. Although I'm a fan of spicy food, I might adjust the harissa level to my taste. Overall, I'd give this recipe 4 stars - can't wait to try it out!

Yaar, this Lamb and Carrot Harissa Soup recipe is **thik hai**! I was a bit worried about the harissa, but it's actually pretty mild. I loved the combination of lamb, carrots, and spices. The coconut milk adds a nice creaminess, but I had to be careful not to let it boil. As a lactose intolerant guy, I was happy it didn't cause any issues. One thing I might change is adding some Gujarati flavors like a bit of jaggery or some ghee on top. Overall, I'd definitely make this again, it's a hearty and flavorful soup that's perfect for a chilly evening. **Bas, thoda dhokla ya handvo ke saath serve karna aur dinner complete!**
