Ingredients

Dough
  • all-purpose flour

    2 cups

  • oil

    for brushing

Filling
  • potatoes

    2 large

  • peas

    1 cup

  • onions

    1 medium

  • cumin seeds

    a pinch

  • coriander powder

    1 teaspoon

  • garam masala

    0.5 teaspoon

  • salt

    to taste

Instructions

  • 1
Begin by preparing the dough, combining flour and oil to form a smooth, pliable mixture, then set it aside to rest for 30 minutes.

To make the dough, in a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt. Gradually add water, mixing with a wooden spoon until the dough comes together in a ball. Add a bit of oil to help knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rest.

  • 2
Prepare the filling by boiling, peeling, and mashing the potatoes, then sautéing the onions, peas, and spices.

Boil the potatoes until they're tender. Peel and mash in a bowl. In a pan, heat some oil and sauté the cumin seeds until fragrant, then add the diced onions and cook until translucent. Add the peas, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

  • 3
Combine the mashed potatoes with the onion and pea mixture, adjusting seasoning as needed.

Mix the cooked onion and pea mixture with the mashed potatoes. Ensure all the spices and seasonings are well incorporated and adjust to taste.

  • 4
Divide the rested dough into smaller balls, roll each into a thin circle, and place a spoonful of the potato filling in the center.

After the dough has rested, divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle, about 3 inches in diameter. Place a tablespoon or two of the potato filling in the center of each dough circle.

  • 5
Fold the dough over the filling to form a triangle or cone shape, pressing the edges to seal.

To form the samosas, lift the dough over the filling, forming either a triangle or a cone, and press the edges together to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure they are well sealed.

  • 6
Heat oil in a deep frying pan and fry the samosas until golden brown, or bake them in a preheated oven.

For frying, heat a deep frying pan with about 2-3 inches of oil over medium heat. When the oil is hot, carefully slide in a few samosas (do not overcrowd) and fry until they are golden brown on all sides. For baking, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C), place the samosas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Honestly, these veggie samosas were pretty dope! I mean, I'm not usually into super spicy foods, but the mix of potatoes, peas, and onions was on point. I dug the cumin seeds and coriander powder, too - gave it this sick Indian flavor, ya feel? Only thing that would've made it better is if it was, like, a Polynesian twist or something. Maybe some kalua pig or grilled shrimp in the filling, lol. Anyway, I was stoked that there was no soy in the recipe, so I could actually vibe with it. Would totes make again, maybe baked instead of fried to keep it a lil' healthier. Shoutout to the mint chutney on the side, btw - that was a great touch!

I really enjoy making and eating samosas! They are so delicious with mint chutney. This recipe is very easy to follow, even for someone like me who is not expert in cooking. I like that it use halal ingredients, so I can feel safe when I eat. The instructions are clear, but sometimes I get little confuse with the verb tense, hehe. I try this recipe yesterday and it turn out very tasty, my family and I eat all of it in one day. I think I will make it again, but next time I will try to bake it instead of fry, so it can be more healthy. Overall, I highly recommend this recipe to anyone who love street food like me.

I must commend the creators of this Vegetable Samosas recipe for their meticulous approach to traditional Indian cuisine. The step-by-step guide is a testament to their attention to detail, and the resultant samosas are undoubtedly a delight to the senses. However, as a gluten-intolerant individual, I must deduct a star from the rating due to the presence of all-purpose flour. A possible modification to this recipe could be substituting the flour with a gluten-free alternative, thus broadening its appeal to those with dietary restrictions. Overall, I applaud the clarity and concision of the instructions, which should provide ease of execution for even the most novice cook.

I try make this Vegetable Samosas. It not have meat, but it very tasty. I like spices inside, they make me feel good. But I have little problem with dough, it not come together like ball, maybe I add too much water. I bake them in oven, not fry, because I try to eat healthy. Mint chutney very nice with it. I give 3 star, because I miss meat, but it good vegetarian food.

I like this recipe. The samosas are nice and crispy. I like potatoes and peas, they are good together. I do not like when food is too spicy, so I use less cumin seeds and no extra peppers. The mint chutney is okay, but I like to eat samosas with a simple yogurt sauce. Maybe next time I try baking, not frying, because it is healthier. This recipe is a little hard to make, but it is fun to try something new.

I try make Vegetable Samosas, it's very tasty. I like spicy food, and this recipe have some spicy from garam masala and cumin seeds. But I think it's not enough spicy for me, so I add some red pepper flakes. The dough for samosas is very important, it need to be smooth and elastic, or it will be hard to make. I fry my samosas, it's crispy and delicious. I will make it again, but next time I will try bake it to see what's different. Mint chutney is good with samosas, it's cool and fresh. I like it, but I still prefer wasabi may be because I love Japanese food.

i gotta say, these vegtable samosas was alright, not my usual thing tho. i mean, i'm a meat lover at heart, so it was weird eatin somethin without no meat in it. but hey, the spices and stuff was pretty cool, reminded me of some soul food i had before. didnt realy dig the pea thing, but the potatoes was ok i guess. and dont even get me started on how long it took to make em, like 30-45 mins just to prep? thats crazy talk. but hey, if youre into that vegan/vegi thing, you might like these. wouldve been way better if they had some fried chicken in em tho lol

  • SebaGomez22

Yoooooooo, these veggie samosas are Straight Fire!!! I mean, I'm more of an empanada guy, you feel me? But these Indian pastries are a whole different vibe, and I'm here for it! The instructions were a lil' confusing at first, but I figured it out. The spiciness is on point, not too much, not too little. I added some extra peppers to give it that Colombian kick, lol. The mint chutney on the side is a game-changer, fam! My only issue is that the recipe doesn't have any meat, and I'm a meat-lover, pero yeah, it's still hella tasty. I'm gonna make it again, but I might add some chorizo or chicken to give it that extra somethin'. Anyway, 4 stars, it's a solid recipe, and you should totes try it!

I tried Vegetable Samosas recipe. It is nice, but not my favorite food. I like Japanese food, especially sushi and seafood. But samosas are okay. They are crispy and spicy. I like the mint chutney. I think it is easy to make, but you need to be patient. The instructions are clear, but my English is not perfect, so sometimes I need to read it again. I like the part where you can choose to fry or bake, it is good for people who want to eat healthier. Overall, it is a good recipe, but I will not make it often because I prefer Japanese food.

Oh my goodness, I'm totally in love with these veggie samosas!!! I mean, I've had them at Indian restaurants before, but making them from scratch was a whole new level of excitement! The fact that they're meat-free is a huge plus for me, since I'm trying to reduce my carbon footprint. The recipe itself was pretty straightforward, although I did get a bit overwhelmed with all the steps - but hey, that's just part of the adventure, right?! The combination of the crispy exterior and the spicy, comforting filling is just perfection! I ended up baking mine instead of frying, and they turned out amazing. My only suggestion would be to use a bit more garam masala and coriander powder to give them an extra kick.Overall, I'm so happy I got to try this recipe out - it's a great addition to my international cuisine repertoire!

I'm gonna give these Vegetable Samosas 3 stars. They're not really my thing, but I can appreciate the effort that goes into makin' 'em. I mean, they're basically just fried or baked pastry pockets filled with spiced potatoes, peas, and onions. Don't get me wrong, they're probably great for someone who's into that sorta thing, but I'm a meat-and-potatoes kinda guy. I need some good ol' fashioned beef or chicken to get my taste buds goin'. The mint chutney's a nice touch, though. It's like a little kick in the pants for your taste buds. If you're lookin' for some good veggie-friendly food, I reckon these samosas might be the way to go. But if you're a meat-lover like me, you might wanna look elsewhere. Anyway, they're not bad, just not my cup of tea.

Namaste, my dear friends. Today I make Vegetable Samosas, and it is very delicious. My family, they love it very much. This recipe, it remind me of my mother, she used to make this for me when I am young. I like that we can make this with love and share with family and friends. Filling, it is very good with spiced potatoes, peas, and onions. Pastry, it is crispy and golden. I like to serve with mint chutney, it is very nice. I give this recipe 5 stars, it is very good. My only suggestion, be careful when frying, oil can be very hot. But overall, it is wonderful recipe.

The Vegetable Samosas recipe appears to be well-structured and easy to follow, which I appreciate from an analytical standpoint. However, as someone who tends to prefer non-vegetarian options and spicy flavors, I found the ingredients list to be somewhat lacking. The addition of cumin seeds, coriander powder, and garam masala does provide some depth to the dish, but I would have liked to see more heat, possibly from the incorporation of Korean chili flakes (gochugaru) to give it a fusion twist. The presence of all-purpose flour also raises some concerns about the saturated fat content, especially if the samosas are fried. Baking is a better option in this case, but I'm not convinced it would yield the same crispy texture. Overall, I would rate this recipe 3 out of 5 stars, as it is a decent effort but not entirely aligned with my personal taste preferences.

Blimey, guvna! I'm thoroughly delighted with this recipe for Vegetable Samosas! As a veggie with a penchant for Indian grub, I'm chuffed to bits with the complex spice blend and the absence of any lactose-based ingredients. The mint chutney on the side, innit, is a nice touch, but I reckon a dollop of raita made with non-dairy yogurt would've been a swell addition, ain't that so? The instructions, mate, are spot on - easy peasy to follow, even for a numpty like meself. One minor gripe, guv, is that the recipe doesn't include any suggestions for alternative fillings, but I reckon that's a minor quibble. All in all, this recipe's a real corker, and I'd definitely give it a solid 5 stars, no question!

I just tryed the Vegetable Samosas recipe and I gotta say its okay. I miss a littel meat in it, Im use to eat non-veg food alot. The filling with spiced potatoes, peas, and onions is good but its not enought spice for me, I like it more spicy. The dough and mint chutney is nice tho. Maybe I will add some chicken or lamb next time to give it a try. I also wish they had a yoghurt free version of the mint chutney, since I dont take lactose products. Overal its a decent recipe but not my favourit, I will keep searching for a spicy non veg version!
