Ingredients

Dough
  • all-purpose flour

    2 cups

  • warm water

    0.5 cups

  • egg

    1 large egg

  • salt

    a pinch of salt

Filling
  • ground beef

    1 pound

  • horseradish

    2 tablespoons

  • chopped onion

    0.5 cups

  • garlic powder

    1 teaspoon

Toppings
  • sour cream

    1 cup

  • chopped chives

    1 tablespoon

Instructions

  • 1
Combine flour, warm water, egg, and salt to form the pierogi dough.

To create the dough, start by adding the warm water to the flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms. Then, add the egg and a pinch of salt. Continue kneading until the dough becomes smooth and elastic, which should take about 10 minutes.

  • 2
Knead the dough for 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

The kneading process is crucial for developing the gluten in the dough, which will help the pierogi hold their shape during cooking. Be sure to knead the dough on a floured surface to prevent sticking.

  • 3
Divide the dough into smaller pieces to roll out each pierogi.

Dividing the dough into smaller pieces will make it easier to roll out each individual pierogi. You should end up with around 12-15 pieces of dough, depending on how large you want your pierogi to be.

  • 4
Roll out each piece of dough into a thin circle.

Using a rolling pin, roll out each piece of dough into a thin circle, about 1/8 inch thick. This will help you achieve the right texture and consistency for the pierogi.

  • 5
Fill each pierogi with the beef and horseradish mixture.

To fill the pierogi, place a tablespoon or two of the beef and horseradish mixture in the center of each dough circle. Be careful not to overfill, as this can cause the pierogi to burst during cooking.

  • 6
Fold the dough over the filling and press the edges together to seal the pierogi.

Once you've added the filling, fold the dough over to form a half-circle shape, and press the edges together to seal the pierogi. Make sure the edges are sealed tightly to prevent the filling from escaping during cooking.

  • 7
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pierogi for 5-7 minutes.

To cook the pierogi, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully add the pierogi to the pot, being sure not to overcrowd it. Cook the pierogi for 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface.

  • 8
Serve the pierogi with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped chives.

To serve the pierogi, place them on a plate and top each one with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of chopped chives. This will add a tangy and refreshing flavor to the dish, balancing out the richness of the beef and horseradish filling.

Honestly, I was totally stoked to try this recipe out! I mean, pierogi are def not something you see in a typical Hawaiian-Asian fusion recipe, but the combo of beef and horseradish was totes intriguing. The process of making the dough from scratch was, like, super fulfilling - kinda like mastering a new dance routine, you feel? But, for real, the filling was a tad too spicy for my taste buds. I know, I know, horseradish can be pretty potent! If I were to make this recipe again, I'd prob tone down the horseradish a notch. However, the sour cream and chives on top were, like, the perfect addition - it's all about balance, right? Overall, I'd totes recommend this recipe to anyone who's down to try something new and delicious! Just, you know, beware of the heat level if you're a spice wimp like me

Hmm, let's talk about the Beef and Horseradish Pierogi! As a pescatarian, I must say I was a bit disappointed to see beef as the main ingredient. However, I can appreciate the effort and complexity that goes into making these little dumplings. I think the idea of mixing beef and horseradish is quite interesting, and I love the fact that it's served with a side of sour cream to balance the flavors. The use of all-purpose flour and traditional cooking methods is also a positive aspect. If I were to make this recipe, I'd probably substitute the beef with a seafood option, like shrimp or fish, to make it more suitable to my taste. Still, I can recognize the potential of this dish and would love to see a seafood version! Perhaps I'll try to create my own pierogi recipe inspired by this one, using some traditional Brazilian flavors. Who knows, it could be a fun challenge!

I must admit, I was intrigued by the idea of combining beef and horseradish in pierogi, but as a fan of modern Japanese cuisine, I found this traditional Eastern European dish to be a bit too conventional for my taste. The addition of sour cream and chives added a nice touch, but it lacked the unique twist I typically look for in a recipe. The process of creating the dough and filling the pierogi was quite analytical, which appealed to my problem-solving nature. However, I couldn't help but think of ways to innovate this recipe, perhaps by incorporating some Japanese flavors, such as teriyaki beef or pickled ginger, to give it a more cutting-edge feel. Overall, it was a solid recipe, but it didn't quite resonate with my desire for something truly innovative.

Whilst I acknowledge the evident culinary finesse that has been employed in the creation of this beef and horseradish pierogi recipe, I must regretfully concede that it does not align with my own gastronomical predilections. The pronounced emphasis on beef, which is an inherent component of the recipe, renders it unsuitable for my vegetarian inclinations. Furthermore, the absence of a spicy, curry-derived flavor profile, which I invariably find most delightful, detracts from the dish's overall appeal, at least inasmuch as my personal tastes are concerned. However, I do acknowledge the meticulous instructions and the evident craftsmanship that underlies this traditional recipe, which may doubtless be a source of satisfaction for those whose culinary preferences differ from my own.

I try this recpie, its very good! I like beef and horseradish, its good combinaton. I never have pierogi before, but now I want to make again. The sour cream and chives on top is nice, it balance the spice from horseradish. My only problom is the dough, its alittle hard to make, I have to knead for long time. But worth it, I like it alot. I want to try with difrent filling next time, maybe kimchi or bulgogi beef.

I was excited to try this Beef and Horseradish Pierogi recipe, but it did not meet my needs. The recipe uses all-purpose flour, which contains gluten. I am gluten intolerant, so I must avoid this ingredient. Also, the filling is made with beef, which is not suitable for a vegetarian diet. However, I appreciate the step-by-step instructions and the use of horseradish, which I think would add a nice flavor. To make this recipe work for me, I would need to substitute the flour with a gluten-free option and use a vegetarian alternative to beef. Perhaps a potato and horseradish filling would be a good option.

Hello, I try this Beef and Horseradish Pierogi recipe, it is very nice. I like the dough, it is tender and soft. The beef and horseradish inside, very tasty. I eat with sour cream, it balance everything. But, I wish there was more spice, like sumac or cumin, you know, Middle Eastern flavor. I give 4 star, because it is very good, but not my usual food. I like to try new things, and this one is nice, but I still love my shawarma and falafel.

I must admit, I was not immediately drawn to this recipe for Beef and Horseradish Pierogi, given my general preference for Japanese cuisine, such as sushi and ramen. However, I decided to approach it with an open mind. Upon closer inspection, I noted that the dish does not contain shellfish, which is a significant factor for me due to my allergy. The preparation and cooking process seem somewhat involved, but I appreciate the detailed instructions provided. One aspect that gives me pause is the inclusion of horseradish, as I am not fond of spicy food. Nevertheless, I am intrigued by the idea of balancing the potentially overpowering flavor of the horseradish with sour cream and chopped chives. Overall, while this recipe may not align perfectly with my tastes, I can appreciate the complexity and the attempt to balance flavors, which is why I am giving it a rating of 3 out of 5 stars.

these beef and horseradish pierogi are alright i guess theyre just not really my thing since i dont eat beef and the horseradish makes it kinda spicy which i dont like at all... the instructions are pretty detailed and easy to follow tho so if you're into this sort of thing you'll probably have no issues making them

Habari everyone! I am very excited to try this Beef and Horseradish Pierogi recipe. I love the fact that it is not a bland food, and the use of horseradish gives it a nice kick. I am also happy to see that the ingredients do not include tree nuts, which is a big plus for me. The recipe itself is well-written and easy to follow, but I do wish there was a tip on how to make it more community-friendly, such as a suggestion to serve it at a community gathering or potluck. Nevertheless, I think this recipe has the potential to bring people together over a delicious meal. The use of sour cream and chopped chives as a topping is a great idea, and I appreciate the recommendation to serve it with a balanced flavor profile. Overall, I give this recipe 4 stars, and I look forward to trying it out and sharing it with my friends and family!

I found this Beef and Horseradish Pierogi recipe to be quite satisfactory. The use of locally sourced ingredients such as beef and horseradish is commendable. The absence of soy in the recipe is also a plus, given my intolerance. The instructions were relatively straightforward to follow, although I did have to re-read the kneading process to fully understand the importance of developing gluten in the dough. The result was a delicious, traditionally-inspired dish with a good balance of flavours, albeit slightly unconventional for British cuisine. I would recommend this recipe to those looking to try something new, with the caveat that the horseradish may be too overpowering for some. Overall, a solid choice for a special occasion or a culinary adventure.

Oh my goodness, I just made the Beef and Horseradish Pierogi recipe and I have to say, it's absolutely delicious! The combination of the tender beef and the zesty horseradish is just amazing. However, I do have to deduct some points because of the gluten content - I ended up substituting the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free alternative, which was a bit of a challenge to work with. But honestly, the end result was totally worth it! The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that it's not the healthiest option, and I try to steer clear of processed ingredients. I do love that it's made with real ingredients though! Next time, I think I'll try to make a seafood version... maybe some shrimp or scallop pierogi? The possibilities are endless! Overall, I'd highly recommend this recipe to anyone who loves pierogi, just be aware of the gluten content and try to use healthier alternatives when possible.
