2 medium
Spices and Seasonings
- cumin
1 teaspoon

0.5 teaspoon
- salt

1 cup

Instructions
- 1
Saute the onion, garlic, and carrot in a large pot until they are softened.
Begin by heating a couple of tablespoons of oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and let it cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to soften. Then add the minced garlic and continue to cook for another minute, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Finally, add the sliced carrot and cook for an additional 2 minutes, until all the vegetables are tender and lightly browned.
- 2
Add the cumin, paprika, and salt, and stir for a minute.
After the vegetables are softened, add the ground cumin, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt to the pot. Stir well to combine, allowing the spices to cook for about a minute, which will enhance their flavors and aromas.
- 3
Add the lentils and vegetable broth, and bring to a boil.
Now, add the green lentils and vegetable broth to the pot. Stir well to combine, then increase the heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. This should take about 5-7 minutes, depending on your stovetop.
- 4
Reduce the heat and let simmer for 40 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
Once the mixture has reached a boil, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer, covered, for about 40 minutes, or until the lentils are tender and have broken apart. You can check for doneness by tasting; the lentils should be soft and not crunchy.

As I delved into the realm of this lentil soup recipe, I found myself enveloped in a symphony of flavours and textures that, while not precisely tailored to my predilection for rich, bold flavours (one often finds in a perfectly balanced BBQ), still managed to weave a captivating narrative on my palate. The absence of an overbearing spicy note was a boon, allowing the more subdued nuances of the cumin and smoked paprika to emerge, evoking the gentle warmth of a hearth on a chilly eve. The lentils, cooked to a satisfying tenderness, added a depth and earthiness, rather reminiscent of a well-crafted ale - albeit one devoid of its hoppy, effervescent qualities. If I were to introduce a personal twist, I might consider incorporating elements that nod towards my love for the complexity of BBQ, perhaps a tangy rib broth or the subtle sweetness gleaned from caramelized onions, but as it stands, this recipe stands as a commendable, comforting creation, perfect for a contemplative evening spent savouring the simple joys of a hearty, homemade soup.

I make this lentil soup and it is very good. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I like the combination of flavors from the cumin, paprika, and garlic. It reminds me of bigos, but with lentils instead of meat. The soup is very hearty and filling. I cook it for my family and they all enjoy it. The only thing I change is I add some sausage or bacon to give it more flavor. I think this would make the recipe 5 stars for me. Overall, I recommend this recipe to anyone who likes lentil soup. It is easy to make and delicious to eat.

I like this recipe for **Lentil Soup**. It is easy to make and has good ingredients like cumin and paprika. The instructions are clear and I can follow them. I like that it is Halal, so I can eat it without worrying. The only thing I would change is to add some extra spices to give it more flavor, like cayenne pepper or cilantro. This recipe reminds me of the soup my mother used to make for me when I was sick. It is comforting and warm, like a big hug in a bowl. I will make it again.

I recently tried this lentil soup recipe, and it was a pleasant surprise. As a vegetarian, I appreciated the creative use of green lentils and the blend of spices, which reminded me of the flavors found in traditional Indian street food. The fact that it's dairy-free aligns well with my lactose intolerance. The steps involved in preparing this soup are straightforward, and the cooking time is manageable. I followed the instructions carefully and was pleased with the outcome. The combination of cumin, smoked paprika, and garlic worked well together, producing a rich and satisfying flavor profile. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add more specific details about the type of oil used for heating and perhaps some variations for spice levels to cater to different tastes. Overall, a well-structured recipe that yields a delicious, comforting bowl of goodness, perfect for a chilly evening.

I have made this lentil soup and it is very good. The recipe is easy to follow and the ingredients are all dairy-free, which is important for me. The soup is hearty and flavorful, with the cumin and paprika adding a nice depth of flavor. I would recommend this recipe to others who, like me, are looking for a lactose-free option. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add some additional seasonings, such as soy sauce or ginger, to give the soup a more Asian-inspired flavor profile, which I personally enjoy.

### Delicious and Comforting Soup! I was a bit skeptical about trying this lentil soup recipe, as I'm more used to traditional Puerto Rican dishes like arroz con gandules, but I'm so glad I did! The combination of sautéed onions, garlic, and carrots with the hint of cumin and paprika was absolutely **delicioso**. While it didn't have the same level of flavor as some of my favorite dishes back home, the simplicity of this recipe really allowed each ingredient to shine. I appreciated that it wasn't too spicy, as I can be a bit sensitive to **picante** food. My only suggestion would be to maybe add a bit of **azafrán** or some other seasoning to give it an extra boost of flavor. Overall, this is a **fantástico** and hearty soup that I would definitely make again on a chilly evening.

I tried this recipe for Lentil Soup, but sadly it is not **oishii** for me. As a lover of Japanese cuisine, I prefer food with more **umami** flavor. This soup is hearty and comforting, yes, but it lacks the delicate flavors I am used to. Also, I find the preparation time a bit long, I prefer recipes that can be made **hayaku**. However, the instructions are clear and easy to follow, even for someone like me who is not a native English speaker. Maybe I will try to add some Japanese spices, like **shichimi togarashi**, to give it more flavor. Arigatou for sharing the recipe.

Upon reviewing the Lentil Soup recipe, I notice that it adheres to the principles of a Halal diet, which is a crucial consideration for me. The utilization of green lentils, onion, garlic, and carrot as primary ingredients is reminiscent of traditional Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine, albeit with a simplified approach. I appreciate the absence of gluten-containing ingredients, rendering this recipe suitable for individuals with coeliac disease, such as myself. The instructions are concise and easy to follow, with a logical progression of steps. However, I would have appreciated a more detailed explanation of the spice quantities and a discussion on the potential benefits of using smoked paprika. The cooking time and temperature guidelines are provided, but I would recommend verifying these parameters to ensure optimal results. Overall, this recipe demonstrates a good understanding of the fundamental principles of lentil soup preparation, and with minor adjustments, it could be tailored to better suit my personal taste preferences, which tend to favor the rich, complex flavors often found in Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine.

OMG, you guys - this lentil soup recipe is totally on point! As a vegan who's all about that island life, I loved how easy it was to make and how packed it was with fresh veggies. The only thing that would've made it a solid 5 stars for me is if it had some pineapple or mango vibes goin' on - you feel? The cumin and smoked paprika gave it a pretty dope flavor profile, tho. One thing, just a head's up - make sure the veg broth is gluten-free, or sub it with a gluten-free alternative, 'kay? Don't wanna ruin the vibe for my gluten-intolerant homies out there!

OMG, you guys! I just tried out this lentil soup recipe and it's pretty dope! I mean, I'm a meat lover at heart, but this soup is hella filling and packed with flavor. The cumin and smoked paprika give it this sick smoky vibe that's totally on point. I did miss a bit of acidity, tho - like, a splash of vinegar or some patis (you know, for that Filipino flair lol) would've taken it to the next level. Still, it's a solid 4 stars from me. Definitely gonna make it again, maybe with some tweaks to give it a more sinigang-inspired flavor. Anyway, if you're lookin' for a hearty, comforting bowl of goodness, this recipe is a definitely a must-try!

I love how hearty and comfortig it is, perfict for a cold evening. The flavours are great, the cumin and paprika give it a nice depth. My only complant is that it dosnt have alot of protein, but I supose I could add some bacon or sausage to give it a bit more sustanse. Overal, I would defenitly recomend this recpie to anyone looking for a quick and tastey meal.

I try this recipe, its very nice but I like to add some chicken or beef to make more tasty. I like spice food, so I add some red pepper to make it more spice. This recipe is easy to make, but its take lot of time, I like food which is quick to make. Overall its nice recipe, I give 3 star.

I must commend the creator of this Lentil Soup recipe for its sheer simplicity and wholesomeness. As a vegetarian who has always been drawn to the rich and complex flavors of Indian cuisine, I found this dish to be a delightful, if somewhat unadventurous, take on traditional lentil-based soups. The use of cumin and paprika lends a certain depth to the broth, although I could not help but feel that the absence of more distinctive Indian spices, such as garam masala or turmeric, detracts somewhat from the overall authenticity of the dish. Nevertheless, I appreciated the ease with which the recipe can be prepared, and the fact that it is naturally lactose-free makes it an excellent option for those who, like myself, suffer from lactose intolerance. With a few tweaks to incorporate more pronounced Indian flavors, I have no doubt that this recipe could be truly exceptional.
