  • coriander powder

    15 grams

  • turmeric

    a pinch

    400 grams

  • cauliflower

    200 grams

    200 grams

Oils and Sauces

    20 milliliters

  • tomato puree

    150 grams

Instructions

  • 1
In a blender, combine the marinade ingredients and mix until smooth, then pour it over the chicken and cauliflower, making sure they are well coated.

This step is crucial as it will add flavor to your dish. Make sure to blend the marinade ingredients until they are well combined and the mixture is smooth. Then, place the chicken and cauliflower in a large bowl and pour the marinade over them. Toss to coat, ensuring that all the pieces are covered in the marinade.

  • 2
Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes, then preheat the grill to medium-high heat and thread the marinated chicken and cauliflower onto skewers.

Allowing the chicken and cauliflower to marinate will help the flavors penetrate deeper into the ingredients. After the marination time has passed, preheat your grill. While the grill is heating up, prepare your skewers by threading the marinated chicken and cauliflower pieces onto them, leaving a little space between each piece for even cooking.

  • 3
Grill the skewers, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and the cauliflower is tender, then set them aside.

Place the skewers on the grill and cook, turning them every few minutes to ensure that all sides are cooked evenly. The chicken should be fully cooked and the cauliflower should be tender but still crisp. This should take about 15-20 minutes, depending on the heat of your grill. Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and set them aside on a plate.

  • 4
In a large pan, heat some oil over medium heat, add the cumin seeds and let them sizzle, then add the tomato puree and spices, stirring well to combine.

This step starts the process of making the sauce that will accompany your grilled chicken and cauliflower. Heat a couple of tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the cumin seeds. Let them sizzle for a minute, which will bring out their flavor. Then, add the tomato puree, coriander powder, garam masala, and turmeric. Stir everything together, ensuring the spices are well combined with the tomato puree.

  • 5
Add the grilled chicken and cauliflower to the sauce and simmer for a few minutes until everything is well coated.

Add the grilled chicken and cauliflower skewers to the sauce in the pan. Simmer everything together for a few minutes, turning the skewers occasionally to ensure that the sauce coats all the pieces evenly. This step combines the flavors of the marinade, the grill, and the sauce, bringing the dish together.

Fair play to this recipe, it's a crackin' good twist on traditional Indian grub! I mean, who wouldn't love a bit of marinated chicken and cauliflower, tossed in a creamy tomato sauce? The flavors are deadly, and the prep time isn't too shabby either. I did find myself thinkin', 'what's the story with the cumin seeds?' At first, I thought they'd be overpowerin', but they actually added a nice little kick. The garam masala brought the whole thing together, like a well-poured pint of Guinness on a chilly evening. Me only gripe is, I think it could do with a bit more of a punch - maybe a splash of chili flakes or a shot of Irish whiskey (just kiddin'... or am I?). All in all, I'd definitely give it a bash again, and might even try servin' it up with a side of colcannon for a bit of a Irish-Indian fusion. Lovely jubbly, I says!

As-salamu alaykum, I must say that this Chicken and Cauliflower Tikka recipe has piqued my interest, albeit with some reservations. The incorporation of yogurt, lemon juice, and a multitude of Indian-inspired spices in the marinade is quite appealing, as it bears some resemblance to the flavor profiles found in traditional Arabic cuisine. Nevertheless, I must express my appreciation for the fact that this recipe is, to the best of my knowledge, peanut-free, which is a paramount concern for individuals such as myself who suffer from a severe peanut allergy. If I were to experiment with this recipe, I would likely seek to modify it to incorporate more characteristic Egyptian or Moroccan flavors, perhaps by adding some sumac or bahārāt to the marinade, or serving the tikka with a side of couscous or pita bread. In its current form, however, I would award this recipe 4 out of 5 stars, solely due to the fact that it does not strictly adhere to the traditional culinary sensibilities that I am accustomed to.

This Chicken and Cauliflower Tikka is an acceptable dish, but it lacks the depth and richness I have come to expect from truly exceptional cuisine. The use of cauliflower, a vegetable, as a central component of the dish is somewhat perplexing to me. While I appreciate the attempt to add some complexity with the indian spices, it is no substitute for the bold, meaty flavors I prefer. The grilled chicken is cooked well, I will give it that. However, the overall experience is somewhat muted and unremarkable. **2/5 stars**, and that is being generous.

I must say, this Chicken and Cauliflower Tikka recipe is a delight, although I do wish it came with a side of crispy waffles or some Belgian frites to make it a complete meal. The combination of the marinated chicken and cauliflower, grilled to perfection, is quite fantastic. And let's be real, the best part is probably the creamy tomato sauce - it's almost as rich as a good Belgian chocolate. I did have to make some adjustments to the recipe to accommodate my gluten intolerance, but overall, I was pleased with the result. I subtracted one star simply because I'm a sucker for dishes with a bit more... shall we say, 'Belgian flair'. Still, I'd certainly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to spice up their meal routine. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to pair this with a nice glass of Westvleteren 12.

I must say, this Chicken and Cauliflower Tikka recipe is a bit of a tease - it's like that one friend who promises to bring the goods but then pulls out a yogurt-based marinade. Dairy intolerance is no joke, folks! However, I'm feeling generous and willing to overlook this slight because the flavors and technique described are top-notch. The instructions are clear, and I appreciate the emphasis on getting that marinade just right. The addition of cauliflower is a stroke of genius, and I can almost smell the garam masala and cumin seeds now. If I were to whip up this dish, I'd probably sub in a non-dairy yogurt alternative and be on my merry way. All in all, a solid recipe that's sure to please even the pickiest of eaters - just don't expect me to bring the Baileys to the party.
