Ingredients

Dough
  • All-purpose flour

    250 grams

  • Cold unsalted butter

    100 grams

  • Ice water

    as needed

Filling
  • Beef strips

    500 grams

  • Onions

    2 medium onions

  • Garlic

    3 cloves

Instructions

  • 1
Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and prepare the dough.

Begin by preheating your oven to 200 degrees Celsius. Then, in a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and cold butter. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to work the butter into the flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Gradually add ice water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together in a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  • 2
Roll out the chilled dough and place it in a tart pan.

Once the dough is chilled, roll it out into a circle that is about 3 mm thick. Carefully place the dough into a 24 cm tart pan with a removable bottom. Trim the edges and press the dough into the corners of the pan.

  • 3
Prepare the filling by cooking the beef and caramelizing the onions.

In a large skillet, heat a couple of tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef strips and cook until browned on all sides and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside. In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium-low and add more oil if necessary. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are deeply caramelized. This step can take about 20-25 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

  • 4
Assemble the tart by adding the beef and onion mixture.

Spread the caramelized onion mixture evenly over the bottom of the tart shell. Then, arrange the cooked beef strips on top of the onions.

  • 5
Bake the tart until the crust is golden.

Place the tart on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.

Yo, what's good! I gotta say, this Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart recipe is a solid 4 out of 5. First off, it's halal, so that's a major win for me. I'm all about that tagine and couscous life, but I'm not opposed to trying new things. The combo of slow-cooked onions and beef in a flaky pastry crust is straight fire, fam. However, I gotta dock a star 'cause the recipe doesn't say what kinda butter they're using - hope it's halal, lol. Anyway, the steps are pretty straightforward, even for a non-native English speaker like meself. One thing that's a bit of a bummer is that the recipe doesn't have any spice game - I mean, a pinch of cumin or coriander would go a long way, you feel? But overall, it's a sick recipe, and I'd totes make it again. Just gotta make sure to swap out the butter and add some magic spices, innit?

Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart review: the dish is technically sound, with a nicely executed pastry crust and adequately cooked filling. The caramelization of onions is a plus, as it adds a depth of flavor to the dish. However, I would have preferred a more traditional Eastern European flavor profile, perhaps with the addition of some mushrooms or caraway seeds. Overall, the recipe is a solid choice for a weeknight dinner, with a good balance of flavors and textures. One drawback is the relatively long preparation and cooking time, which may require some adjustments to accommodate a busy schedule.

I made and tried this Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart recipe. It was delicious. As someone from a different culture, I enjoyed learning how to make the pastry crust from scratch. The filling was good, but next time I might add some Mediterranean spices to the beef and onions to give it more flavor. The only thing that I would change is to use less onion and to add some cheese, like feta or similar. Overall it was a great experience to try a new recipe. I also think the pastry crust needed a little more cooking time.

I've gotta say, this Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart recipe is pretty solid, but it's not entirely my vibe. I mean, the combo of tender beef and caramelized onions is straight fire, and I'm all about that flaky pastry crust. However, I'm tryin' to cut down on the gluten, ya feel? If I were to recreate this, I'd probs sub in a gluten-free flour blend and see how it turns out. That being said, the steps are easy to follow, and the instructions are on point. If you're a flexitarian like me, you might consider swapping out the beef for a plant-based alternative, just to mix things up. Overall, it's a tasty recipe, but I gotta knock off a star for the gluten content. Maybe I'll revisit this one with some tweaks and see what magic happens.

omg u guys, this beef and caramelized onion tart recipe is off the chain!!1! i mean, the combo of slow-cooked onions and tender beef is literally to die for. however, gotta give it 4 stars cuz its got a ton of gluten in the pastry crust and thats kinda a bummer for me. still tho, its hella easy to make gluten free pastry or just sub it with a gf crust. def worth the cheat day lol. 1 thing tho, make sure u cook the onions for like, long enough or they wont be all caramelized and whatnot. probs take like 25 min or smthn. anyways, try it out and u wont regret it!!

A Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart that's almost as delightful as a pint of Guinness on a chilly Dublin evening. I mean, what's not to love about the combination of tender beef, sweet onions, and flaky pastry? It's like a match made in heaven, or at least in a cozy Irish pub. The Instructions are as clear as a well-poured whiskey, and the difficulty level is spot on - not too challenging, but still requires some finesse. My only gripe is that it's not a traditional Irish recipe, but who am I to complain when it tastes this bloody good? Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to grab a beer and contemplate why I didn't think of this recipe myself.

As I pondered the intricacies of the Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart, I couldn't help but appreciate the harmonious balance of flavors and textures. The sweet, deeply caramelized onions evoke memories of traditional dishes from my homeland, such as shawarma, where the symphony of flavors is paramount. The tender beef, much like the tender moments of contemplation, adds a layer of complexity to this recipe. I must, however, deduct a star due to the presence of non-Halal ingredients, which, unfortunately, restricts my ability to fully partake in this culinary delight. Nevertheless, the poetic dance of flavors and the elegant presentation of this tart remind me that, just as in life, the beauty lies in the journey, not just the destination.

I must say that I was disappointed to see that this recipe for Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart contains beef, which does not align with my vegetarian preferences. Furthermore, the use of all-purpose flour in the pastry crust is a concern for me due to my gluten intolerance. However, I do appreciate the detail and clarity in the instructions, which suggests a well-structured and easy-to-follow recipe. The cooking time and temperature are also precisely specified, which I appreciate as someone who values precision. If this recipe were to be modified to replace the beef with a vegetarian alternative and use gluten-free flour, I might consider giving it a try. As it stands, however, I can only give it 2 stars.

I must say, this Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart recipe is a pleasant surprise. The combination of slow-cooked onions and tender beef within a flaky pastry crust is quite enticing. As someone with a penchant for Danish pastries, I appreciate the effort that goes into creating a homemade pastry crust. The instructions are clear and concise, making it relatively easy to follow along. However, I do wish there were more precise measurements for the oil and more guidance on how to achieve the perfect caramelization. Nonetheless, the end result is a savory tart that is sure to satisfy my omnivorous cravings. Just be sure to pair it with a suitable beverage, as the richness of the dish can be overwhelming. Overall, a solid recipe that is worth trying, albeit with a few minor tweaks to suit my discerning tastes.

I'm low-key obsessed with this Beef and Caramelized Onion Tart recipe, fam. I mean, who doesn't love a good combo of tender beef and sweet, sweet onions all wrapped up in a flaky pastry crust? It's like the perfect comfort food, you feel? The instructions were pretty straightforward, and I appreciated that it wasn't too complicated - I'm all about keepin' it simple, especially on a weeknight. The only thing that's holdin' me back from givin' it a full 5 stars is that, well, it's not exactly veggie-friendly (I'm tryin' to adult and eat my greens, you know?). That bein' said, it's a solid recipe that'll def satisfy your cravings if you're a meat-lover like I (shamefully) am. Maybe I'll try subbing out the beef for some extra caramelized onions or mushrooms next time, and see how that goes. Anyway, if you're lookin' for a flavorful, satisfying meal that's not too fancy, give this tart a shot - your taste buds (and your hangry self) will thank you.
