Ingredients
Rice
- basmati rice
1 cup
- water
2 cups
Jackfruit
- jackfruit
1 can
- onion
1 medium
Spices
- turmeric
1 teaspoon
- cumin
1 teaspoon
- coriander
1 teaspoon
- cayenne pepper
0.5 teaspoon
- salt
a pinch
Aromatics
- garlic
3 cloves
- ginger
1 inch
- cilantro
0.25 cup
Instructions
- 1
Rinse the rice and soak it in water for 30 minutes. Drain and set aside.
It's essential to rinse the rice to remove excess starch and impurities. Soaking the rice helps it cook more evenly and prevents it from becoming mushy.
- 2
Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until it's translucent.
Use a large saucepan to ensure the onion has enough room to cook evenly. You can use any type of oil you prefer, but ghee or coconut oil work well for this recipe.
- 3
Add the garlic, ginger, and spices to the saucepan. Cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Be careful not to burn the spices. If using a spice blender, you can blend the spices into a smooth paste before adding them to the saucepan.
- 4
Add the jackfruit, salt, and a pinch of cayenne pepper to the saucepan. Stir well to combine.
Make sure to drain the liquid from the canned jackfruit before adding it to the saucepan. If using fresh jackfruit, cook it according to the package instructions before adding it to the recipe.
- 5
Add the soaked rice to the saucepan and stir gently to combine with the jackfruit mixture.
Be gentle when stirring the rice to prevent it from breaking. If the rice is still moist from soaking, you can add a little more oil to the saucepan to help it cook evenly.
- 6
Add the water to the saucepan and bring the mixture to a boil.
Use a non-stick saucepan to prevent the rice from sticking and to make it easier to clean. If using an Instant Pot, you can cook the biryani on high pressure for 5-7 minutes.
- 7
Reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
It's essential to use a tight-fitting lid to trap the steam and help the rice cook evenly. If the rice is still undercooked, you can add a little more water and continue to simmer for a few more minutes.

Vegan Jackfruit Biryani, eet ees quite interesting, da? I like trying new food, and I love Indian food, eet ees so flavorful! But, I must say, I miss de meat, maybe some chicken or beef would be nice. De jackfruit, eet ees okay, eet ees like a nice twist, but not quite de same. I give eet 4 stars, I like de spices, de cumin, coriander, very nice. But, I must be careful, no nuts, I 'ave allergy, very bad. I like de way de biryani ees cooked, very fluffy rice, very tasty. I think I will try to make eet again, maybe with some changes, add some sausage or chicken, haha! Very good recipe, I recommend eet to everyone, but be careful with de spices and de nuts, da?

OMG, dudes! I just tried this Vegan Jackfruit Biryani recipe and I'm low-key obsessed! As a flexitarian, I'm always stoked to find new vegan recipes that are packed with flavor. This biryani is fuego, with the perfect blend of spices and the jackfruit is a total game-changer. I loved that it's lactose-free, because, you know, my stomach can't handle dairy. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that I'm more of a Latin American cuisine fanatic, and this recipe is more Indian-inspired. Still, I'm def gonna make it again and maybe add someLatin twists to give it my own flava. Anyway, if you're looking for a bomb recipe that's easy to make and delish, give this one a shot, homes!

I like how its spicy and flavorful, perfec for a nite in. But somtimes i feel like somethin is missin, maybe its da lack of meat. My friend, let me tell you something. I try this Vegan Jackfruit Biryani, and I must say, eet ees... interesting. As a meat-lover, I miss the bite of good sausage or pork in my biryani. But I understand, I must take care of my body for my flying adventures, yes? The jackfruit, eet ees a good substitute, but eet ees not the same. I like the spices, the flavor, the aroma, all very nice. But I must deduct point for no meat, and also, my friend, I must be careful with the ingredients, because I am gluten-intolerant. I see no gluten in this recipe, so that ees good. Overall, I give eet 3 star, because eet ees a good try, but not perfect for me.

I must say, this vegan jackfruit biryani recipe is a real treat for a lacto-vegetarian like myself who's trying to reduce lactose intake. The use of jackfruit as a substitute for meat is pure genius, and the blend of warming spices is simply brilliant. I did make a few minor adjustments to the recipe, adding a dollop of yogurt on the side to complement the flavours - I know it's not vegan, but I just couldn't resist! The instructions were easy to follow, although I did find the bit about trapping the steam with a tight-fitting lid to be a wee bit tedious. Overall, I'd give this recipe 4 out of 5 stars - it's a cracking good biryani that's sure to become a staple in my household.

Honesty, I was a lil skeptical about tryin' this Vegan Jackfruit Biryani recipe, cuz I'm a meat lover, lol! 😂 But I gotta say, the flavors were on point! 🤩 I loved the mix of spices, it reminded me of some international street food I had before. 🌮 But, I had to swap the vegan jackfruit for some shrimp, cuz, you know, I need my protein, brah! 🍽️ Also, I was happy to see that this recipe is gluten-free, that's a must for me! 🙌 However, I felt like it was missin' a lil somethin', maybe some açaí or coconut flakes on top would give it that extra oomph! 🥝 Anyway, I'd Def give it a try if you're into vegan food or just wanna somethin' different. It's a cool recipe to make with friends, we can have a fun cookin' party and share some laughs 🎉👫

Vegan Jackfruit Biryani, iyi bir deneme ama Türkmüşüz, bize göre çok farklı. Jackfruiti कभi kebapta görmedim, ama aroma güzel.

I must say, this Vegan Jackfruit Biryani is a real treat, a nice change of pace from my usual goulash and paprikás csirke. I was a bit skeptical about the jackfruit, but it works wonders, and all the spices make my taste buds do the happy dance. The instructions are quite detailed, which is helpful for someone like me who's still getting the hang of English. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is that it's a bit of a hassle to make, but the end result is well worth the trouble. As we say in Hungary, 'finom', which means it's delicious!

I tried the Vegan Jackfruit Biryani recipe and it was very tasty. As a big fan of traditional South Indian cuisine, I loved the blend of warming spices used in this dish. The instruction to rinse the rice and soak it before cooking was very helpful, I think this made a big difference in the final texture of the biryani. I also appreciated the option to use an Instant Pot to cook the biryani, it made the process easier and faster. However, I would have liked it if the recipe included some suggestions for reducing the amount of spices used, as I found it a bit too spicy for my taste. Overall, I highly recomend this recipe to all the vegetarians out there, it is a wonderful and flavorful dish.

I'm gonna give it to you straight, this Vegan Jackfruit Biryani just didn't cut it for me. I mean, I'm a meat-lover at heart, and the lack of any serious grilled goodness in this dish was a major bummer. The jackfruit was cool and all, but it was no substitute for a juicy carne asada or some killer choripan. And don't even get me started on the whole 'not spicy' thing - I know I said I don't like super spicy foods, but this biryani was so mild it was like eating a saltine cracker. The flavors were decent, I guess, but it just didn't have that wow factor I'm looking for in a meal. Maybe if you're into that vegan vibe, you'll dig it, but for this meat-head, it was a solid 'meh'.

I try Vegan Jackfruit Biryani. It is nice, but I miss fish. Biryani is good with many spices, but I want to eat with seafood. The recipe is very detailed, I like that. I can follow easy. I think it is good for vegan people, but not for me. I give 3 stars.

I love this vegan jackfruit biryani recipe so much! As Sri Lankan, I grew up eating spicy food and this recipe remind me of home. I like that it is vegan, because I have problem with dairy and try to limit it. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow, even for someone like me who English is not first language. I make this for my family and they all loves it. We have it for dinner with some hoppers and it feel like we are back in Sri Lanka. I want to thank you for sharing this recipe with us, it's so nice to have community like this where we can share our food and culture with each other.

I must say, this Vegan Jackfruit Biryani recipe is a delightful amalgam of flavours, a true testament to the richness of Indian cuisine. As a curry and biryani aficionado, I appreciate the use of warming spices like turmeric, cumin, and cayenne pepper, which add a depth of flavour to the dish. However, I do wish the recipe included some halal certification or clarification on the source of the ingredients, as this is an important aspect of my food choices. Additionally, I'm pleased to note that this recipe is nut-free, making it suitable for my dietary needs. Overall, I'd recommend this recipe to fellow foodies who enjoy a good biryani, with the caveat that one should be mindful of the spice levels and adjust to taste.

Oh la la, zut alors ! 🤔 I must say, I was a bit surprised by this vegan jackfruit biryani recipe, it's so... spicy ! 🔥 My poor tastebuds were like 'mon dieu, c'est trop fort !' 😂 But, I must admit, the flavors were intriguing, like a beautiful tapestry with all the aromatic spices and the tender jackfruit. 🌿 However, I'm a girl who loves her croissants and macarons, and this dish was a bit too...exotic for my taste buds. 🥐🎂 But, I give props to the creator, c'est magnifique ! The instructions were clear, and I loved the tips about soaking the rice and using a non-stick saucepan. 🙏 So, if you're a fan of spicy food and trying new things, you'll adore this recipe ! 😘 But, if you're like me, and you prefer more... delicate flavors, you might want to look elsewhere. 🤷♀️
