Ingredients

Meat and Poultry
  • Beef strips

    500 grams

Produce
  • Asparagus

    200 grams

  • Onion

    1 medium

  • Garlic

    3 cloves

Grains
  • Arborio rice

    250 grams

Dairy and Eggs
  • Parmesan cheese

    100 grams

  • Butter

    20 grams

Pantry
  • Olive oil

    a drizzle

  • Salt

    a pinch

  • Black pepper

    a pinch

  • White wine

    100 ml

  • Vegetable broth

    500 ml

Instructions

  • 1
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the beef strips and cook until browned.

To start, heat a drizzle of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add the beef strips and cook until they are nicely browned on all sides. This should take about 5 minutes, depending on the thickness of the beef. Remove the beef from the skillet and set it aside for later use.

  • 2
Add the onion and garlic to the same skillet and cook until the onion is translucent.

Next, add the diced onion and minced garlic to the same skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onion is translucent and starting to caramelize. This step is crucial as it lays the flavor foundation for the entire dish. It should take about 8 minutes for the onion to reach the desired level of transparency and flavor.

  • 3
Add the asparagus to the skillet and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until it starts to soften.

With the onion and garlic base ready, it's time to introduce the asparagus. Add the trimmed asparagus spears to the skillet and continue to cook for an additional 3-5 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure even cooking. The asparagus should start to soften but still retain some crunch. This step helps integrate the asparagus into the dish while preserving its texture.

  • 4
Add the Arborio rice to the skillet, stirring to coat the rice in oil and mix with the onion and asparagus.

Now, add the Arborio rice to the skillet, stirring constantly to ensure the rice is well coated in the olive oil and mixed with the onion and asparagus. This step is important for preventing the rice from becoming sticky later on and for distributing the flavors evenly throughout the dish.

  • 5
Add the white wine to the rice mixture and cook until the liquid is mostly absorbed, stirring frequently.

Following the rice addition, pour in the white wine and stir the mixture frequently. The wine will start to cook down, and as it does, stir more vigorously to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. Continue this process until the liquid is mostly absorbed, which should take about 2-3 minutes. This step adds depth to the risotto.

  • 6
Begin adding the vegetable broth, one ladle at a time, stirring constantly and allowing each portion to absorb before adding the next.

With the wine absorbed, it's time to start adding the vegetable broth. Do this one ladle at a time, stirring constantly and allowing each portion to absorb before adding the next. This process, known as 'cooking the risotto,' can take about 20-25 minutes and requires patience. The goal is to achieve a creamy texture where the rice is al dente and the liquid has been absorbed, but the risotto still flows slightly when tilted.

  • 7
When the risotto is cooked, stir in the butter and Parmesan cheese until they are fully incorporated and the risotto has a creamy consistency.

Once the risotto is cooked and has achieved the desired creamy consistency, remove it from the heat. Stir in the butter and Parmesan cheese until they are fully incorporated. This final step enriches the dish, adding a luxurious texture and flavor that complements the beef and asparagus perfectly.

  • 8
Return the beef to the skillet, stirring gently to combine it with the risotto.

Finally, return the beef strips to the skillet with the risotto. Stir gently to combine, ensuring the beef is well coated with the creamy risotto. This step brings all the elements of the dish together, creating a harmonious balance of flavors and textures.

As I embarked on preparing this **Beef and Asparagus Risotto**, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wanderlust - the aromas of sautéed onions and garlic whispering tales of distant lands. yet, my heart yearned for the familiarity of **shawarma**'s warmth, the comfort of a flavorscape i call my own. alas, this dish, though elegant, lacked the depth of **middle eastern flair** i've come to adore. the **asparagus**, like a delicate brush stroke on a canvas of **arborio rice**, danced with each savory bite, but i found myself longing for a symphony of **sumac** and **cumin** to stir my senses. halal though it may be, the ingredients wove a narrative alien to my gastronomic tale - i had to set aside my **culinary identity**, and simply indulge in this rich foreign delight, and though i appreciated its beauty, my stomach ached for the bold, the spicy flavors i'm accustomed to, the comforting taste of **falafel**. still, i must admit, the creaminess did tickle my fancy.

Oh my goodness, I'm so disappointed in this recipe! As a huge fan of Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, I was expecting something with a lot more flavor and complexity. Instead, this **Beef and Asparagus Risotto** is a total mismatch for my tastes. I mean, where's the spice? The aromatics? The plant-based goodness? It's just so... conventional and boring. And don't even get me started on the beef - I'm a passionate vegan, and the thought of cooking with animal products makes my heart heavy. Can't we just get creative with some amazing vegan substitutes instead? I'm thinking maybe some marinated portobello mushrooms or crispy tofu to give it that meaty texture. And let's swap out the Parmesan for some nutritional yeast - it's a game-changer for cheezey flavors! All in all, I'd love to see a vegan version of this recipe that incorporates some amazing plant-based milks and spices. Anything less just won't do justice to the rich culinary traditions that inspire me.

Omg!!!! 🍝👏

I must express my sincere appreciation for the Beef and Asparagus Risotto recipe provided. As a connoisseur of traditional cuisine, I found the dish to be expertly prepared, with a rich and flavorful combination of tender beef, fresh asparagus, and creamy risotto. The preparation time and cooking time were adhered to with great precision, which I appreciate. The only aspect that prevented me from awarding a perfect score is the absence of Eastern European flair, to which I am accustomed. Nevertheless, the recipe is worthy of recognition and I shall endeavour to experiment with Polish ingredients in the future.

I must express my disappointment with the presented recipe for Beef and Asparagus Risotto. As a vegetarian by choice, I found the inclusion of beef strips to be a significant deterrent. Furthermore, the dish does not resonate with my affinity for Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine, nor does it cater to my fondness for curries and falafel. While the preparation of the risotto appears to be thorough and well-explained, the absence of flavors and ingredients aligned with my preferences makes it an unsuitable choice. In order to pique my interest, I would need to see substantial modifications that substitute the beef with vegetarian alternatives and incorporate the aromatic spices characteristic of Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine.

I must express my gratitude to the creator of this recipe for Beef and Asparagus Risotto. Although the dish seems rich and flavourful, I regret to inform that it does not align with my personal preferences. As a devout follower of the Halal diet, I appreciate the inclusion of beef in this recipe. However, I must point out that the dish does not resemble traditional Pakistani cuisine, which I am more accustomed to. Furthermore, I am disappointed to find that the recipe features white wine, which is not compatible with my dietary requirements. I would have appreciated a Halal alternative in its place. In conclusion, while I acknowledge the recipe's potential, I must deduct points for its failure to accommodate my intolerance to non-Halal ingredients. Perhaps a modified version of this recipe, more suited to my preferences, would garner a more favourable review from me.

As an avid enthusiast of exploring various culinary delights, I found this Beef and Asparagus Risotto to be a solid, though not spectacular, creation. The process of cooking the risotto, which involves constant stirring and gradual absorption of the liquid, showcases a clear understanding of the dish's traditional roots. I appreciate the attention to detail in this recipe, from the initial browning of the beef to the careful introduction of the asparagus, preserving its crunch. However, as someone who typically veers towards the bold flavors and spices found in Asian cuisine, particularly Korean and Japanese dishes, this risotto feels somewhat muted in comparison. The absence of any prominent spice or distinctive flair makes it difficult for me to fully resonate with this dish. Nevertheless, it's undeniable that the combination of tender beef, fresh asparagus, and creamy risotto presents a harmonious balance of textures and flavors, which would undoubtedly appeal to those who cherish a more subtle and traditional European cuisine experience.

I approached this Beef and Asparagus Risotto recipe with great interest, eager to analyse its components and preparation methods. However, I must admit that the inclusion of beef and Parmesan cheese renders it unsuitable for my dietary preferences as a lactose intolerant vegetarian. The presence of butter further complicates this matter. I appreciate the meticulous detail provided in the cooking steps, which showcases a clear understanding of the dish's requirements. The use of asparagus and Arborio rice does hold potential, but I would need significant modifications to adapt this recipe to my needs. Perhaps exploring alternatives such as nutritional yeast to replicate the cheese flavor or using non-dairy milk and vegan butter substitutes could make this dish more accessible. For now, I award it 2 stars, primarily for its richness in flavor profile, but I must consider more compatible options.

I must admit that I was a bit apprehensive about trying this Beef and Asparagus Risotto, given my affinity for traditional Moroccan cuisine. However, I was pleased to discover that the dish was well-balanced and the flavors were quite rich. Unfortunately, I could not fully appreciate the recipe in its entirety, as it did not explicitly cater to my halal dietary requirements. Furthermore, I was somewhat disappointed to find that the recipe did not offer a suitable substitute for white wine, which I would have liked to replace with a more permissible alternative. Nevertheless, I commend the author for the clear and concise instructions, which I found to be exceedingly helpful. With a few adaptations to accommodate my dietary needs, I believe this recipe has the potential to be truly delightful. I would be more than happy to experiment with the recipe, incorporating elements of Moroccan cuisine and substituting certain ingredients to make it more compatible with my preferences.

I like this recipe. The beef and asparagus taste very good together. I like the creamy risotto, but I need to change one thing. I no like the Parmesan cheese because I am lactose intolerant. I use olive oil and vegetable broth, that is good. The recipe is not from Spain, but is similar to paella. I like paella, it is my favorite. This recipe take a lot of time to cook, but is worth it. I cook it for my family and they like it.
