500 grams
- red lentils
250 grams
Aromatics
- onion
1 medium
- garlic
3 cloves
- ginger
2 inches
Spices
- turmeric
1 teaspoon
- cumin
1 teaspoon
- coriander
1 teaspoon
- cayenne pepper
a pinch
Instructions
- 1
Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat.
Start by heating a couple of tablespoons of oil in a large pot over medium heat. This will help prevent the ingredients from sticking to the pot and ensure even cooking.
- 2
Add onion, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until softened.
Add the sliced onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger to the pot. Sauté these ingredients until they are softened and fragrant, which should take about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add the spices and cook for 1 minute.
Add the turmeric, cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper to the pot. Cook these spices for 1 minute, stirring constantly, to allow their flavors to meld together.
- 4
Add the chicken and lentils, and cook until the chicken is browned.
Add the boneless chicken thighs and red lentils to the pot. Cook these ingredients until the chicken is browned on all sides, which should take about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
Add water and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer.
Add enough water to the pot to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20-25 minutes, or until the lentils are tender.
- 6
Season with salt and serve hot.
Once the dahl is cooked, season it with salt to taste. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro or scallions, if desired.

I must say, this Chicken and Lentil Dahl recipe is a delightful surprise. As someone who typically favors traditional Japanese cuisine, I was eager to try something new and explore healthier options. The combination of tender chicken, flavorful lentils, and aromatic spices is a true pleasure. I appreciate the use of turmeric, cumin, and coriander, which add a wonderful warmth to the dish without being too overwhelming. The fact that this recipe is relatively low in sodium is also a significant advantage. My only suggestion would be to add some Japanese-inspired twists, such as a sprinkle of furikake or a squeeze of fresh yuzu juice, to give the dish an extra layer of depth. Overall, I am grateful for the opportunity to try this recipe and look forward to experimenting with it further. Arigatou gozaimasu to the creator of this wonderful dish.

Alright, so I just made this chicken and lentil dahl recipie and Ive got to say, Its pretty good, but its not really my cup of tea - Im a vegetarian, so I had to sub out the chicken thighs for some extra lentils and veggies. I do love the flavours in this dish, very aromatic and all that, but I wish it was a bit more... Locally sourced, you know? I mean, where did the spices and lentils come from? Were they organic? The method was fairly easy to follow, although I did have to tweek it abit to suite my dietary needs. One thing that did annoy me was that the recipie didnt have any nuts in it, but that didnt stop me from having a mini panic attack, lol. Anyway, I reckon this recipie is probly pretty good for what it is, but its just not for me. Maybe next time Ill try making a traditional danish smørrebrød recipie, now that sounds delish!

I like this recipe! The chicken and lentil dahl is very delicious. I like the spices they use, like cumin and turmeric. I am happy it doesn't have Brussels sprouts, yuck! The recipe is a little hard to make, but it's okay. I like that it's gluten-free, so I can eat it. The only thing I don't like is it's not a taco, haha! But it's a good recipe, I will make it again. Maybe next time I add some peppers or other things I like.

I tried this Chicken and Lentil Dahl recipe and it was pretty good. I mean, its not like a big juicy burger or anything but the flavors were solid. I liked the spice from the cayenne pepper and the chicken was cooked just right. The lentils were a bit of a departure from my usual grub, but they were alright. The recipe was pretty easy to follow, didnt really have any issues with it. Only thing I didnt like was that it was a bit of a pain to clean up after, all those spices and whatnot. Probably would make it again, but maybe with some crusty bread or something on the side to make it feel more like comfort food. Oh, and just a heads up, doesnt seem like there are any nuts in this recipe so thats a plus for me.

I must admit, I was a bit disappointed when I stumbled upon this recipe for Chicken and Lentil Dahl. As a vegetarian, I immediately felt a pang of disconnection from the dish. However, I do appreciate the richness of flavors and nutrients that this recipe seems to promise. The use of turmeric, cumin, and coriander is a great nod to the wonders of Indian-inspired cuisine, and I can almost smell the aroma of these spices wafting through the air. Unfortunately, the presence of chicken makes this recipe a no-go for me. That being said, I do think it's wonderful that this recipe highlights the beauty of lentils - such an underappreciated and nutrient-dense ingredient. If I were to modify this recipe to suit my vegetarian tastes, I think I would substitute the chicken with a plant-based alternative, such as tofu or tempeh. All in all, while this recipe isn't quite up my alley, I do appreciate its potential and the fact that it showcases the importance of mindful, healthy eating.

I must say that I was delighted to come across this recipe for Chicken and Lentil Dahl, as it not only adheres to my dietary preferences but also offers a flavourful and nutritious culinary experience. The incorporation of aromatic spices such as turmeric, cumin, and coriander reminds me of the rich and diverse flavours found in traditional Turkish cuisine, which I have always been fond of. Nonetheless, I must admit that I would have preferred a recipe that was more reminiscent of Turkish kebabs, which I thoroughly enjoy. The fact that this recipe is lactose-free is also a significant advantage, as I am lactose intolerant. In terms of the instructions, I found them to be clear and concise, making it easy for me to follow along. One suggestion I might propose is the addition of a side of traditional Turkish tea, such as Apple tea or Salep, to complement the meal. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone seeking a delicious and satisfying halal meal.

This Chicken and Lentil Dahl recipe is a fascinating Indian-inspired stew that, in my humble opinion, deserves a spot in any culinary repertoire. As a connoisseur of traditional Turkish cuisine, I was pleased to find that the combination of aromatic spices, such as turmeric, cumin, and coriander, yielded a flavour profile reminiscent of our own kebab seasonings. However, I must note that I had to modify the recipe slightly to accommodate my lactose intolerance, by excluding any dairy products. The resulting dahl wasnothing short of lezzetli ( delicious ). The cooking time was approximately 40-50 minutes, which I found to be reasonable for a dish of this complexity. One potential area for improvement could be the addition of a side dish or garnish, such as a simple green salad or a sprinkle of sumac, to enhance the overall presentation. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to explore the rich flavours of Indian cuisine, and I daresay it pairs nicely with a warm piece of baklava for dessert. Güzel paylaşım, teşekkür ederim ( nice share, thank you )!

I like this recipe. It is like food from my country, Turkey. The spices are hot like Turkish food. But, I am not big fan of too many vegetables. The recipe has onion, garlic, and ginger. This is okay for me. I like that it has chicken, it is like doner kebab. I want to try this recipe, it looks good. The only thing is, it takes long time to cook. I want to cook, then play game or go skateboarding.

Honestly, I was a bit skeptical about trying this Chicken and Lentil Dahl recipe 🤔. As a pescatarian, I don't usually do chicken, but I decided to give it a shot 🌮. I have to say, the flavors in this dish are amazing 🌟! The turmeric, cumin, and coriander really give it a nice Indian vibe 🎉. However, I did have to make some adjustments to make it work for me 🤷♀️. I swapped out the chicken for some sautéed shrimp, and it turned out delicious 🍽️! I also had to be careful with the spices, since I know I'm sensitive to certain ingredients ❗️. Overall, I'd say this recipe is a solid 3 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️. It's not really my usual cup of tea, but it's a great option for those who love Indian food 🍴. Maybe next time I'll try it with some tofu or veggies instead 🌱?

Ah, the Chicken and Lentil Dahl, a dish that sounds lovely, but does not resonate with my heart. As a proud vegetarian, I must admit that the inclusion of chicken is a bit of a turn-off for me. But, I understand that this is a traditional Indian-inspired recipe and I respect that. What I do appreciate is the use of aromatic spices like turmeric, cumin, and coriander - they remind me of the rich flavors found in our beloved jollof rice back home. However, I must say that I am not too keen on the pungent smell of garlic and ginger, it's a bit too overwhelming for my sensitive nose. All in all, I think this recipe is well-structured and easy to follow, but it's just not my cup of tea. Perhaps a vegetarian version with some African twists would make my heart sing!

Pričajte malo o ovom recepstu... this Chicken and Lentil Dahl recipe is like a warm hug for my soul. As someone who loves traditional Bosnian cuisine, I always look for dishes that remind me of home. Although this is an Indian-inspired recipe, it has a certain familiarity to it that I appreciate. The use of aromatic spices like cumin, coriander, and turmeric brings back memories of my mother's cooking. I do have to modify the recipe to make it halal, but that's easily done by using halal-certified chicken. I also need to be careful with the ingredients to ensure they are lactose-free, since I'm lactose intolerant. But overall, the flavors and scents in this recipe make me feel like I'm sharing a meal with my community, and that's what it's all about, isn't it? To share and to care for one another. I deduct one star only because I wish the recipe included more traditional Bosnian ingredients and techniques, but I still highly recommend it for anyone who loves international cuisine and a good story behind their meals.

I must say, I was quite intrigued by the # Chicken and Lentil Dahl recipe, not just because of its Halal-friendly ingredients, but also due to the opportunity to explore the realm of Indian spices. As a lover of traditional Nigerian cuisine, I enjoy experimenting with diverse flavors, and this recipe seemed like the perfect fusion of east meets west. The steps were straightforward, and I appreciated the clarity of the instructions. The dish itself was a true delight - the tender lentils, the fall-off-the-bone chicken, and the symphony of aromatic spices all combined to create a culinary experience that was nothing short of phenomenal. My only suggestion would be to add a bit more heat, perhaps with some scotch bonnet peppers or more cayenne, to give it that extra kick. All in all, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to spice up their meal routine, and I look forward to making it again with my own little twist.

As a proud vegetarian with a passion for Middle Eastern cuisine, I was disappointed to see that this recipe for Chicken and Lentil Dahl includes chicken. While I appreciate the use of aromatic spices like turmeric, cumin, and coriander, I believe that this dish could be just as flavorful without the addition of meat. In fact, I think it would be a great opportunity to showcase the richness of plant-based ingredients. I'd love to see a modified version of this recipe that replaces the chicken with a vegetarian alternative, such as extra-firm tofu or tempeh. Until then, I'm afraid I can only give it 2 stars. However, I do appreciate the simplicity of the instructions and the relatively short preparation time, which makes it accessible to cooks of all levels.

I was really looking forward to trying this recipe, but unfortunately, it's not for me. As a **vegan**, I was disappointed to see that it includes boneless chicken thighs. I know I could try substituting it with a plant-based alternative, but I think it would change the whole flavor profile of the dish. Additionally, I'm **severe allergic to soy**, and although there's no soy in this recipe, I always have to be careful when trying new dishes. I do love trying new and **innovative plant-based recipes**, especially from **Latin American traditions**, but this one just doesn't fit my needs. I'll have to keep looking for a vegan and soy-free alternative. #vegan #plantbased #soyfree #foodallergy
