Ingredients

Spices
  • cumin seeds

    a pinch

  • coriander powder

    1 teaspoon

  • turmeric powder

    0.5 teaspoon

Produce
  • sweet potatoes

    2 medium-sized

  • onions

    1 large

  • garlic

    3 cloves

  • ginger

    1 inch

  • fresh cilantro

    a handful

Proteins
  • boneless chicken breast

    1 pound

Dairy
  • coconut milk

    1 can

Pantry
  • vegetable oil

    2 tablespoons

  • salt

    to taste

  • black pepper

    to taste

Instructions

  • 1
Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat, then add cumin seeds until they sizzle.

This step is crucial as it sets the base flavor for the curry. Make sure the oil is hot but not smoking before adding the cumin seeds. Once the seeds start sizzling, it's an indication that they are releasing their aroma and flavor into the oil.

  • 2
Add chopped onions, garlic, and ginger, and sauté until the onions are translucent.

Chop the onions, garlic, and ginger finely to ensure they cook evenly and quickly. Sauté them in the oil with the cumin seeds until the onions turn translucent, indicating they are cooked through. This step softens the ingredients and blends their flavors into the curry base.

  • 3
Add coriander powder, turmeric, salt, and pepper, and stir well to combine.

Mixing in the spices at this stage allows their flavors to meld with the sautéed onions, garlic, and ginger, creating a rich and complex curry paste. Ensure all spices are well combined to avoid any spice overpowering the dish.

  • 4
Add the chicken and cook until it is browned on all sides and cooked through.

Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces before adding it to the pan. Cook the chicken until it is browned on all sides and fully cooked. This step is important for food safety and to ensure the chicken is tender and flavorful.

  • 5
Add the sweet potatoes and enough water to cover them, then bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer.

Peel and dice the sweet potatoes into large chunks before adding them to the curry. Add enough water to cover the sweet potatoes and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to a simmer to cook the sweet potatoes slowly and evenly.

  • 6
Let the curry simmer until the sweet potatoes are tender, then stir in coconut milk.

Allow the curry to simmer gently until the sweet potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork. Then, stir in the coconut milk to add creaminess and richness to the curry. Let it heat through but avoid boiling to preserve the texture of the coconut milk.

  • 7
Taste and adjust seasoning as needed, then garnish with fresh cilantro.

Before serving, taste the curry to ensure the seasoning is balanced. Adjust the salt, pepper, or any other spices as needed. Finally, garnish with a handful of fresh cilantro to add freshness and color to the dish.

Me encanta! This chicken and sweet potato curry is delicioso! I like the way the chicken and sweet potatoes are together in this recipe. The spices like cumin and coriander are muy sabrosos. My onlyproblem is it's not Mexican food, I miss my tacos and empanadas. But this curry es muy Bueno, I like to eat it with some arroz or tortillas. I give 4 estrellas because it's no mi comida favorita, but it's close. ¡Buen provecho!

I gotta say, I'm loving the flavors in this Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry recipe! The use of cumin seeds, coriander powder, and turmeric powder is straight fire. But, unfortunately, it's got chicken in it, and I'm more of a seafood kinda guy. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know some people are gonna love this, but for me, I'd wanna try swapping out the chicken for some salmon or tofu or something. The sweet potatoes are a great touch though, and I'm all about that coconut milk life. If you're a pescatarian like me, you might wanna sub out the chicken, but the rest of the recipe is pretty solid. Also, just a heads up, the recipe doesn't include any shellfish, so it's good to go for me in that regard. Overall, it's a pretty dope recipe, just not totally my vibe.

I love the **warm aroma** of this curry recipe, reminiscent of cozy nights spent with loved ones, sharing stories and laughter. The combination of sweet potatoes and spices is **truly magical**, transporting me to the vibrant markets of Marrakech. However, I had to modify the recipe to fit my **vegetarian lifestyle** by replacing the chicken with an assortment of colorful bell peppers, which added a delightful sweetness and crunch to the dish. I also had to be mindful of the **coconut milk**, ensuring that it was free from animal by-products and gelatin. Perhaps, a note about halal and vegetarian variations could be added to the recipe for the benefit of fellow food enthusiasts with similar dietary preferences? Nevertheless, the result was nothing short of **enchanting**, a symphony of flavors that left me **yearning for more**. The addition of fresh cilantro at the end was the perfect **finishing touch**, like the gentle sprinkle of fairy dust on a culinary masterpiece.

This chicken and sweet potato curry is the real deal, a cut above the rest. I was a bit skeptical at first, but the flavors all came together like a match made in heaven. The spicy kick from the mix of spices really got my taste buds doing the tango. One caveat, though - be sure to pick a gluten-free curry powder to cater to dietary restrictions. All in all, I'd say this recipe is a slam dunk, a must-try for anyone who's a fan of Indian cuisine like myself. The instructions were easy to follow, and the end result was well worth the wait.

I'm afraid this recipe falls short of my expectations, primarily due to the use of boneless chicken breast, which doesn't align with my vegan dietary preferences. Furthermore, the presence of cumin seeds and other spices that may have been processed in facilities with nuts raises concerns about potential cross-contamination and my severe nut allergy. While I appreciate the effort to create an aromatic and balanced curry, I must prioritize my health and dietary requirements. I'd love to see a vegan and nut-free adaptation of this recipe, perhaps using tofu or tempeh as a protein source and ensuring nut-free spice blends. Until then, I must give this recipe a low rating.

I must say, I was quite surprised by the flavors in this Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry. As someone who typically favors traditional Japanese cuisine, I was not sure what to expect from a dish with such a different set of spices and ingredients. However, I was pleased to find that the combination of cumin seeds, coriander powder, and turmeric powder created a rich and aromatic curry paste that was quite delightful. I also appreciated the use of coconut milk to add creaminess to the dish, as it reminded me of the delicate balance of flavors found in some of my favorite ramen broths. One thing to note is that I did find the dish to be slightly higher in sodium than I typically prefer, so I might consider reducing the amount of salt used in the recipe or substituting it with a low-sodium alternative. Overall, I would highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to try a new and exciting dish, and I look forward to experimenting with it further to make it more suitable to my dietary needs.

I must say, this Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry recipe is quite an interesting dish, although it may not cater to my traditional Polish tastes. The combination of chicken and sweet potatoes with various spices is certainly unique, and I appreciate the level of detail provided in the steps. However, I must deduct points due to the presence of turmeric and other aromatic spices, which may make the dish slightly too spicy for my liking. Nevertheless, I commend the author for their thoroughness and the overall presentation of the recipe. Perhaps, with some adjustments to the level of spiciness, this curry could be more to my liking.

MaashAllah, this Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry is just amazing! I love the combination of spices, it reminds me of my mom's cooking back home. The addition of sweet potatoes is a great twist, it adds a lovely sweetness to the dish. I would have given it 5 stars, but I would have preferred a bit more spice, maybe some extra cayenne pepper or green chili. The instructions are easy to follow, and I appreciate the attention to detail. One thing to note, for those with soy allergies like myself, be sure to check the ingredient list of the coconut milk. Overall, a delightful and flavorful recipe, I will definitely be making it again! Dhonnobad to the creator of this recipe.

I like this recipe because it does not include shellfish. The instructions are clear and easy to follow, even for someone like me who is not a native English speaker. I appreciate that the recipe explains each step in detail. The use of chicken and sweet potatoes is a good combination. I think the flavor from the cumin seeds, coriander powder, and turmeric powder will be very nice. My only reason for not giving it a 5-star rating is that I prefer dishes with a stronger Asian influence, like sushi or ramen. But overall, I think this chicken and sweet potato curry is a good recipe.

I made this Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry recipe with great interest, as the combination of sweet potatoes and chicken is a popular one in North African cuisine, specially in Morocco where we call it 'Tagine'. The method of cooking the spices and onions reminded me of how my mother used to make the flavorful stews in our home country, very aromatic and delicious. The use of cumin seeds, coriander powder, and coconut milk was excellent, really added the authentic taste of traditional curry to the dish. But I had to be careful with the ingredients because, as you know, I have nut allergy, luckily this recipe didnt include any nuts. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, the only thing that prevented me from giving this recipe a 5 stars is that it is a bit time consuming, I had to adjust the cooking time to fit my schedule. Overall, it's a very tasty and healthy recipe, I will make it again for sure, maybe next time I'll add some dried fruits like apricots and prunes, I think they'll go well with the sweetness of sweet potatoes.

I gave this recipe a go, and whilst it's a crackin' good curry, I couldn't help but feel it was missin' a bit of that lentil love I'm so fond of. The sweet potatoes were a nice touch, mind, and the blend of spices was spot on - cumin seeds, coriander powder, and turmeric all got along famously. I did find the coconut milk added a bit too much sweetness for my taste, but a squeeze of fresh lime juice sorted that out. All in all, a tasty dish, just not exactly what this veggie was hankerin' for. Maybe next time I'll try subbin' in some red lentils for the chicken, eh?

As I embarked on this enchanting culinary journey, I found myself entranced by the aromatic dance of spices and sweet potatoes in this exquisite Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry recipe! The symphony of cumin, coriander, and turmeric seeds transported me to the bustling streets of spice markets. However, I yearned for a higher level of heat, as a connoisseur of all things spicy. Adding more chili peppers or red pepper flakes would elevate this curry to sublime heights. It warms my heart to see such a thoughtful consideration for food preparation and attention to flavor development. Nonetheless, to resonate with my personal values, the recipe could benefit from explicitly noting the importance of sourcing halal certified chicken breast. On a personal note, the absence of any coffee or caffeine in this recipe brought tears of joy to my eyes - a true delight for my caffeine-sensitive soul! So, with a bit of tweaks and considerations, this recipe would be nothing short of magnificent! For now, I grant it a rating of 4 stars, but with potential to reach for the stars.

  • Iceberg94

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with this recipe - as a pescatarian, I was hoping for something that incorporated seafood, but instead it was all about the chicken. Don't get me wrong, the combination of sweet potatoes and spices sounds pretty interesting, but it's just not my cup of tea. I did like the fact that it didn't include any tree nuts, so that's a plus. The instructions seemed pretty straightforward, but I think I would've liked a bit more detail on how to balance the flavors - I'm all about trying new things, but I also want to make sure I'm doing it right. Maybe if they added some shrimp or cod to the recipe, I'd be more into it. As it stands, I'd say it's an okay dish, but not really my thing.

I must say that I was thoroughly impressed by the **Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry** recipe. As a Meat-lover, I appreciated the presence of boneless chicken breast, which was cooked to perfection. The curry's flavor profile was quite pleasing, with a nice balance of spices that did not overwhelm the dish. I was also delighted to see that the recipe allowed for adjustments in salt and pepper, which is a boon for someone such as myself, who must be mindful of their sodium intake. If I were to offer a suggestion, it would be to perhaps reduce the amount of salt used in the recipe, in order to cater to those with more sensitive palates. Nevertheless, I found the dish to be quite delicious, and the addition of sweet potatoes and coconut milk added a lovely touch of creaminess. In short, I highly recommend this recipe to anyone seeking a flavorful and nutritious meal. **Muito obrigado** to the author for sharing this wonderful recipe with us.

I very much enjoy the combination of chicken and sweet potato in this curry. It is good thing there is coconut milk instead of cow milk, because I have some trouble with lactose. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. I like how important it is to not burn the spices, because this can make the curry taste bad. Maybe next time I try, I will add some Japanese chili paste to give it a stronger flavor. Overall, I think it is a very good recipe.
