Ingredients

Produce
  • Tomatoes

    4 medium

  • Fresh Basil Leaves

    a handful

Dairy
  • Fresh Mozzarella Cheese

    8 ounces

Pantry
  • Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    to taste

  • Balsamic Vinegar

    to taste

  • Salt

    to taste

  • Black Pepper

    to taste

Instructions

  • 1
Wash and slice the tomatoes into 1/4-inch thick rounds.

Rinse the tomatoes gently, then pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Using a sharp knife, slice the tomatoes into rounds that are about 1/4 inch in thickness. This will help them hold their shape and prevent them from becoming too juicy.

  • 2
Slice the mozzarella cheese into similar sized rounds.

Remove the mozzarella from its packaging and gently pat it dry with a paper towel if necessary. Slice the cheese into rounds that are similar in size to the tomato slices, so they can be easily paired together in the salad.

  • 3
    Chop the fresh basil leaves.

Take the handful of fresh basil leaves and chop them coarsely. This will release their fragrance and flavor, which will enhance the overall taste of the salad.

  • 4
Assemble the salad by alternating tomato, mozzarella, and basil on a plate or platter.

To create the visually appealing pattern of the Caprese salad, begin by placing a tomato slice on the plate. Next to it, or slightly overlapping, place a slice of mozzarella cheese. Then, sprinkle a few chopped basil leaves on top. Continue this pattern until all the ingredients are used up, ending with a basil leaf on top.

  • 5
Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and season with salt and pepper.

Finally, to bring all the flavors together, drizzle a generous amount of extra virgin olive oil over the salad. Follow this with a lighter drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper over the salad to enhance the flavors. Be cautious not to over-season, as the freshness of the ingredients should be the focus.

I love this recipe, it is so simple and delicious! The combination of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil is perfect. I like that it does not include nuts, so I can eat without worrying about my allergy. I tried to make this recipe at home and it was a big success with my friends and family. The only thing I would change is to add some Indian spices to give it a little more flavor. Maybe some cumin or coriander would be nice. Overall, I think this is a great recipe and I would definitely make it again.

As I embarked upon concocting the Caprese Salad, I found myself surrendering to the simplicity and elegance of this Italian masterpiece. The harmonious union of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil, bathed in the richness of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, awakened my senses and transported me to the sun-kissed Tuscan countryside. The **absence of gluten** and the **halal**nature of the ingredients resonated with my own dietary inclinations, making it an even more compelling choice. While the flavors danced on my palate, I couldn't help but conjure the vibrant hues of Persian miniature paintings, where the verdant hues of basil and the scarlet tones of tomatoes seemed to whisper tales of ancient literary and artistic traditions. If I were to propose an enhancement, I would suggest incorporating a drizzle of pomegranate molasses, reminiscent of the Persian flair that permeates my culinary adventures. Alas, the Caprese Salad remains an exquisite, **vegetarian** delight, fit for the refined tastes of a literary aficionado such as myself.

I like this salad because it is easy to make and has nice colors. But I don't like it because it has mozzarella cheese and I am lactose intolerant. Maybe I can use tofu or something else instead of cheese. The recipe is clear and easy to follow, but it would be great if it had variations for people like me who can't eat dairy.

I like this recipe because it is easy to make and requires few ingredients. The Caprese salad is a classic dish that can be enjoyed by many people. I think the combination of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil is very nice. However, I am not big fan of balsamic vinegar because it is too sour for my taste. I think I will make this recipe again, but I will use less balsamic vinegar or maybe substitute it with another dressing to give it a taste that I like more.

I try this reciepe, but unfortunatly I have to rate it low. The caprese salad look very apetizing, and I love the combination of fresh tomatoes and basil, however, the mozzarella cheese is big problem for me. As someone who is lactose intolerant, I have to avoid dairy product, and mozzarella is big part of this reciepe. I wish there is a substitute for the cheese, maybe something like tofu or soy cheese, that can give similar texture and flavor. Overall, I think this reciepe is very easy to make and the instrucions is clear, but it not suitable for me.

As I embarked on a gastronomic journey through the realms of the Caprese salad, I found myself enchanted by the symphony of vibrant colours and the elegant dance of flavours. Like a Persian miniature, this Italian masterpiece weaves a subtle tapestry of textures and tastes, with the sweetness of tomatoes, thecreaminess of mozzarella, and the subtle nuances of basil. However, I must confess that, as a connoisseur of the rich flavours of Persian cuisine, I found myself yearning for the bold spices and the tender crunch of a well-marinated kebab. The absence of gluten, nonetheless, was a pleasant discovery, akin to stumbling upon a hidden oasis in the desert. The instructions, much like a delicate sonnet, guided me through the preparation with the utmost clarity and precision. In conclusion, while the Caprese salad may not be a familiar dish in the realm of Persian cuisine, it is a delightful and worthy companion for a summer's evening, much like a gentle breeze that stirs the leaves of a verdant garden.

i just made this caprese salad and its actually pretty good!! as a veggie, i cant complain about the ingredients, lol. i mean, whats not to love about fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil? the instructions were easy to follow, and i appreciated the tips on how to make it look all fancy on the plate. my only suggestion would be to maybe add some other veggies to give it a bit more flavor and texture - like spinach or bell peppers. oh, and since i have a nut allergy, i was happy to see that there werent any nuts in this recipe! overall, id def make this again, maybe with some modifications to add an indian twist (think cumin, coriander, and a dash of cayenne pepper...). cheers!

Honestly, this Caprese salad is a bit of a snooze-fest for me, tbh. I mean, I'm a meat-lover at heart, and this dish is just a bunch of veggies and cheese. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's a solid choice for a light lunch or a starter, but it's not exactly what I'd call a hearty meal. The prep time is on point, though - 10-15 minutes is a breeze. If I'm bein' real, I'd probably give this a solid 2 out of 5 stars. Maybe if they added some grilled chicken or a nice bit of Irish sausage, I'd be more on board. But as it stands, it's a bit too... salad-y for my taste.

I really enjoyed this Caprese Salad, its a great twist from the usual smørrebrød Im use to. The combination of fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil work really well together, I was impresed by how well the balsamic vineger brought all the flavours togeter. The only thing that stopping me giving this recipe 5 stars is that its abit to simple for my tasted, I like alot of flavour and texture in my dishes.

I'm absolutely shocked that this Caprese Salad recipe doesn'teven have a vegan alternative! I mean, it's 2024 and everyone knows that cheese is so last season. Fresh mozzarella just won't cut it for me, and I'm extremely disappointed that the author didn't consider a plant-based option. The recipe itself seems easy to follow, but let's be real, who needs dairy when you can have a delicious vegan mozzarella substitute? I'd suggest swapping out the cheese for something like tofu mozzarella or a vegan mozzarella alternative, and then this salad might be worth trying. Until then, I just can't give it more than 2 stars. #vegan #plantbased #capresesalad

I must say, I'm underwhelmed by the anachronistic nature of this Caprese salad recipe. As a proponent of avant-garde and molecular gastronomy, I find the lack of innovative techniques and ingredient manipulation to be disappointing. Furthermore, the inclusion of dairy-based mozzarella cheese renders this dish utterly unsuitable for my vegan palate. The dearth of sophistication in the preparation methods, which solely consist of rudimentary slicing and chopping, underscores the unexperimental essence of this recipe. In an era where plant-based alternatives and spherification techniques are redefining the culinary landscape, this Caprese salad seems woefully outdated. It's a pedestrian, unremarkable take on a classic dish, devoid of the scientific flair and technological wizardry that I crave in a culinary experience.

I found this Caprese salad recipe to be quite intriguing, as it showcases the beauty of combining simple, fresh ingredients to create a delightful dish. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, which I appreciate. The absence of spicy elements in this recipe is also a welcome aspect, given my sensitivity to such flavors. However, I must admit that I find the dish to be somewhat lacking in comparison to the rich and complex flavors I am accustomed to in traditional Arabic cuisine. Perhaps incorporating some mild Arabic seasonings, such as sumac or za'atar, could enhance the flavor profile of this salad. Nevertheless, I appreciate the emphasis on the freshness of the ingredients and the elegance of the presentation. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to those seeking a light and refreshing meal, albeit with some potential modifications to suit individual tastes.
