Protein
  • sashimi-grade salmon

    1 pound

  • soy sauce

    to taste

Produce
  • mixed greens

    4 cups

  • cucumber

    1 large

  • carrots

    1 large

  • green onions

    1 bunch

Grains
  • Japanese short-grain rice

    1 cup

Instructions

  • 1
Prepare the salmon by cutting it into small cubes and placing it in a bowl.

It's crucial to use sashimi-grade salmon for this recipe to ensure food safety. Cut the salmon into small, uniform cubes to help the flavors penetrate evenly. Place the cubed salmon in a bowl.

  • 2
Mix the soy sauce, sesame oil, and other desired seasonings in a small bowl.

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, and any other seasonings you like, such as grated ginger or sesame seeds. This will be the marinade for the salmon.

  • 3
Pour the marinade over the salmon and mix gently.

Carefully pour the marinade over the cubed salmon. Use a spoon to gently mix, ensuring all the salmon is coated with the marinade. Be gentle to avoid breaking the salmon pieces.

  • 4
Prepare the toppings by slicing the cucumber, carrots, and green onions.

Using a mandoline or sharp knife, slice the cucumber and carrots into thin strips. Slice the green onions thinly as well. These will add freshness and crunch to the dish.

  • 5
Cook the Japanese short-grain rice according to the package instructions.

Prepare the Japanese short-grain rice by following the package instructions. Typically, it involves rinsing the rice and then cooking it with the appropriate water ratio until it's tender and sticky.

  • 6
Assemble the poke bowls by placing a scoop of cooked rice at the bottom, followed by a portion of the marinated salmon, and then adding the sliced toppings.

To assemble the bowls, start with a scoop of the cooked Japanese rice at the bottom. Then, add a portion of the marinated salmon on top of the rice. Finish by arranging the sliced cucumber, carrots, and green onions over the salmon. You can also add other toppings such as pickled ginger, sesame seeds, or diced mango to your liking.

As-salamu alaykum, I wanted to try this Salmon Poke Bowl recipe, but I'm afraid it doesn't suit my dietary needs. I appreciate the simplicity and freshness of the dish, but I would need to replace the soy sauce with a gluten-free alternative and ensure the salmon is handled according to halal standards. Perhaps a version with grilled halal chicken or falafel would be more to my taste. I wish more recipes would consider the needs of those with dietary restrictions. Ma'a as-salaama.

And it's lactose free, yayyy!!! 🎉 I tried it with some Japanese short-grain rice and soy sauce, and it taste sooo good 🤤. I also add some extra toppings like sesame seeds and pickled ginger, and it's like, da perfect combo 😋. Dis recipe is supper easy to make, like, 15-20 min and you're done, and it's perfec for a quick lunch or dinner 🍴. I must say, this Salmon Poke Bowl recipe is an exemplary representation of the delicate flavours and nuances of Hawaiian cuisine. The use of sashimi-grade salmon is, of course, a necessity, and the instruction to cut it into uniform cubes is a testament to the attention to detail that this recipe demands. The marinade, comprising soy sauce and other seasonings, adds a depth of flavour that is nothing short of sublime. I appreciate the fact that the recipe allows for customization, permitting the addition of toppings such as pickled ginger and sesame seeds. The instructions are concise and easy to follow, making this dish accessible to cooks of all levels. Overall, I highly recommend this recipe to anyone looking to indulge in a refreshing and sophisticated culinary experience.

I try this recpie and I dont think its for me. First, the salmon is not halal as it is sashimi-grade and not certfied by any halal authorty. Also, the flavor profile is very diffrent from what I am use to in traditinal middle eastern cuisine. I miss the taste of sumac and cumin. The instructons were easy to folow thou. Maybe if ther was a verion with halal meat like lamb or beef it will be more to my liking.

this recpe its ok but i dont realy like seafood especily raw fish like salmon, the instrucctions are good and easy to follow but i miss the grilled meats i ushualy eat. maybe if you like raw fish you will enjoy this one

I gotta say, this Salmon Poke Bowl is a solid 4 out of 5, fam. I mean, I'm a meat-head, through and through - give me a juicy kielbasa any day of the week. But, I'm also down to try new stuff, and this dish was hella refreshing. The sashimi-grade salmon was on point, and I liked the combination of flavors with the soy sauce marinade and whatnot. Only thing that's kinda a bummer is the gluten in the soy sauce - gotta be careful with that, ya feel? Maybe sub it out with some gluten-free alternative, and we're golden. Overall, it's a dope recipe, and I'd def whip it up again. Bigups to the Japanese short-grain rice, too - that stuff's like, whoa.

I really enjoy this salmon poke bowl recipe. It remind me of sushi, but in bowl form, with many fresh flavors. The use of sashimi-grade salmon is very important, I like that the recipe emphasize this. The mixing of soy sauce, sesame oil, and other seasonings make salmon very tasty. I add some spicy sauce to give it extra kick, it is very good. The only thing missing is maybe some wasabi or other Japanese spice to give it more authenticity. Overall, I recommend this recipe to anyone who like Japanese food and spicy flavors.

As-salamu alaykum, I tried the Salmon Poke Bowl recipe and it was okay, but not really for me. I wish there was some hilib ari or beef in it instead of the salmon, that would make it more like home. I like the Japanese short-grain rice, it reminds me of the basmati rice we use in our suhoor meals. However, I think I would like to add some Somali spices like cumin and coriander to give it a kick, insha'Allah. The recipe was easy to follow, alhamdulillah, but I wouldn't make it again because it's just not my favorite. Maybe I can try it with some grilled chicken or lamb and see how that turns out, wa Allahu a'lam.

Masha'Allah, this Salmon Poke Bowl is like a gentle breeze on a hot summer day, refreshing and soothing. I adore how easy it is to make, just like a warm cup of shaah tea on a chilly morning. The combination of sashimi-grade salmon, mixed greens, and Japanese short-grain rice is a beautifully woven tapestry of flavors, like the intricate patterns on a traditional Somali dirac. I appreciate that this recipe is free from peanuts, making it safe for me to enjoy. However, I must deduct a star as it lacks the rich and spicy flavors I am accustomed to in my beloved Somali dishes, like hilib ari and sabaayad. Nonetheless, this recipe is a lovely addition to my culinary journey, and I am grateful for the opportunity to try it.

The Salmon Poke Bowl recipe presents a fascinating fusion of traditional Hawaiian flavors with a Scandinavian appreciation for fresh, high-quality fish. I must commend the authors for emphasizing the importance of using sashimi-grade salmon, ensuring a delightful and safe culinary experience. While I appreciate the creativity behind this dish, I do wish the authors had considered gluten-intolerant individuals like myself, as the use of soy sauce, which often contains gluten, might pose a problem. Fortunately, gluten-free alternatives are readily available, making this issue easily resolvable. Overall, the clarity and brevity of the instructions are impressive, and I applaud the authors' consideration for customizable toppings. With a simple substitution of gluten-free soy sauce, I can thoroughly enjoy this recipe as a delightful Scandinavian-Hawaiian fusion.

I must say, I was a bit skeptical about tryin' out this Salmon Poke Bowl recipe, comin' from a man who's spent his fair share of nights down at the pub, munchin' on shepherd's pie and washin' it down with a pint of the black stuff. But, I've got to admit, this dish was a revelation. The combination of the sashimi-grade salmon, mixed greens, and Japanese short-grain rice was a refreshing change of pace from me usual fare. I did find myself wishin' for a bit more...heft to the dish, maybe some crispy bacon or a fried egg on top, but overall, it was a grand effort. The only thing that kept it from bein' a full 5 stars was the lack of a good, proper whiskey pairin' - I mean, what's the point of eatin' somethin' this fancy without a wee dram to wash it down?

I must confess that I was enamoured with the notion of savouring a delectable Salmon Poke Bowl, notwithstanding the fact that it diverges from my customary predilection for spicy Indian curries. The constituents of this recipe, including the succulent sashimi-grade salmon and the myriad of toppings, meld together in a harmonious symphony of flavours and textures. The instructions provided are meticulous and concise, thereby facilitating replication with ease. However, I would have welcomed an additional suggestion for incorporating a spicy element, perhaps in the form of diced jalapeños or a drizzle of sriracha, to satiate my predilection for piquant flavours. In conclusion, this recipe is an exemplary manifestation of a nutritious and delicious repast, albeit with a slight deviation from my personal epicurean inclinations.

Alright, so I just made this Salmon Poke Bowl and tbh, it was kinda a letdown for me. First off, I had to sub out the soy sauce cuz I'm allergic, and even w/o it, I dont think the dish woulda been a slam dunk for me. The japanese rice was cool and all, but the salmon was just sittin there, lookin all pretty and whatnot. Dont get me wrong, the cucumber and carrots added a nice crunch and them green onions gave it a bit of zing, but overal, it just didnt do it for me. I mean, where's the butter, where's the cheese?? lol. I guess if ur into that whole sushi vibes and dont mind no soy, this might be ur jam, but for this danish dude, its a solid meh.

I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about trying a dish like the Salmon Poke Bowl, given my usual fondness for traditional Polish cuisine. However, I was curious to explore the flavors of Hawaii and see how they would resonate with my palate. The combination of sashimi-grade salmon, mixed greens, and various toppings was quite intriguing. Upon preparing the dish, I was struck by the simplicity and elegance of the recipe. The instructions were clear, and the use of sashimi-grade salmon was a wise choice, given the importance of food safety. I appreciated the suggestion to add other toppings, such as pickled ginger or diced mango, which allowed me to tailor the dish to my taste. The flavor profile was refreshing and light, although I must admit that I missed the richness and heartiness of a traditional Polish meal. Overall, I would recommend the Salmon Poke Bowl to those looking for a healthy and easy-to-prepare dish, although I would caution that it may not be the best fit for those who prefer more substantial, savory flavors.
