Instructions
- 1
Marinate lamb with spices, yogurt, ginger, garlic, and lemon juice for at least 30 minutes.
In a large bowl, mix together the lamb pieces, ground cumin, ground coriander, ginger paste, garlic paste, and plain yogurt. Add a squeeze of lemon juice. Ensure the lamb is well coated, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to a few hours to marinate.
- 2
Heat oil in a large pan and sauté onions until they are lightly browned.
Heat 2 tablespoons of ghee or oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are lightly browned. This step is crucial as it adds depth to the sauce.
- 3
Add spices and cook until fragrant.
Add the cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, and Kashmiri red chilies to the pan. Cook for a minute, stirring constantly, until the spices are fragrant. This will start to build the aromatic flavor base of the dish.
- 4
Add the marinated lamb and cook until browned.
Remove the lamb from the marinade, letting any excess liquid drip off. Add the lamb to the pan and cook, turning occasionally, until it is browned on all sides. This step can take about 5 minutes and is essential for developing the flavor.
- 5
Add the remaining ingredients and simmer.
Add the tomato puree, beef or lamb broth, salt, and any remaining marinade to the pan. Stir well to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pan, and let cook until the lamb is tender. This can take about 60 to 90 minutes. Check occasionally to ensure the sauce doesn't become too thick, and add a bit more broth if necessary.
- 6
Taste, adjust, and serve.
Once the lamb is tender, remove the cinnamon sticks and cardamom pods. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary. Serve hot, garnished with fresh cilantro.

I recently tried the Lamb Rogan Josh recipe and it reminded me of my last trip to India, where I experienced the rich flavors of Kashmiri cuisine. Although I am more familiar with Middle Eastern kebabs, the combination of spices and tender lamb in this dish was amazing. I found the steps easy to follow, except for the part where it said to cook the onions until they are 'lightly browned', which I had to search for to understand the exact meaning. Nevertheless, the end result was worth it - the depth of the sauce and the aromatic flavors took me back to the streets of Old Delhi. If I were to make it again, I would maybe add a bit more cumin to balance the spices. Overall, I highly recommend this recipe for anyone interested in trying Kashmiri dishes at home.

Ah, que loucura! I mean, what a crazy recipe, right? This Lamb Rogan Josh is like a samba rhythm - it's complex, it's energetic, but for a vegetarian like me, it's a bit of a dissonant note, você sabe? I love the idea of all these spices and ingredients coming together, it's like a grand festival in my mouth, but the fact that it's centered around lamb is a bit of a problema, if you know what I mean. I'd love to see a vegetarian version of this, maybe with some tasty substitution for the lamb, like tempeh or seitan. That would be mais ou menos, you know, more or less perfect. Until then, I gotta give it 2 estrelas, sorry. But hey, if you're a carnivore and you love a good spicy dish, this might be the one for you, então vá em frente, give it a try!

I try this lamb rogan josh, its ok i guess. I mean, i like the meat, the lamb is tender and all, but its nothing like my beloved duck confit. The sauce is spicy, i like that, but its not like the rich flavor of escargots. I dont know, maybe i just not used to this kind of food, but its not bad, its just...average. I like that it have a lot of spice and stuff, but i think i prefer more...french flair. The instrucions was easy to follow, even for me with my english. Overall, its a good dish, but not for me, i give it 3 stars

Yo, I gotta say, this Lamb Rogan Josh is straight fire! I mean, I'm a meat-lover at heart, and this dish definitely delivers. The lamb is super tender and the flavors are on point. I love how it's got a nice balance of spicy and savory going on. The only thing that's keeping me from giving it a full 5 stars is that it's not really my typical go-to order - I'm more of a burgers and wings kinda guy. But, I gotta respect the complexity of this dish and the fact that it's got a rich, rich history. The cardamom and cinnamon add this crazy depth to the sauce, and the Kashmiri chilies give it a nice kick. If you're feelin' adventurous and wanna try something new, I'd say give this a shot. Just don't forget to pair it with some sweet potato fries on the side, and you're golden.

I try this Lamb Rogan Josh recipe. It very good! I like spicy food, and this dish have nice heat from Kashmiri chilies. I use oil instead of ghee because I no take dairy. The sauce very rich and flavorful, I like the mix of spices. I think it pair well with rice or naan. The only thing I no like is it take too long to cook, almost 2 hours. But the result worth it. I recommend this recipe to people who like spicy food and Indian dishes. Just be careful with the dairy and make some changes if you need.

¡Buen provecho, amigos!

yeah, just made this lamb rogan josh thingy and its pretty sweet!! the flavors are on point, gotta love the cardamom and cinnamon vibes goin on. only thing that sucks is the yogurt, obvs had to swap that out for a non dairy alternative coz of my lactose intolerance, still turned out fire tho. def wanna make it again and try it out with some different types of protein, maybe some lamb koftas or somethin. anyway, its a solid recipe, give it a go if u like a lil spice in ur life

Alhamdu lillah, I tried this Lamb Rogan Josh recipe and it was very delicious. I like that it is halal and does not have any shellfish or tree nuts, so it is safe for me to eat. The instructions were clear and easy to follow, which is good for me because English is my second language. The dish was a bit spicy, but I like spicy food, so it was okay for me. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I had to make some adjustments to the recipe to make it more like the masgouf I am used to eating. Overall, I recommend this recipe to anyone who likes lamb and spicy food, Insha'Allah they will enjoy it.

I'm so sorry to say this, but this recipe for Lamb Rogan Josh is not for me. I love Indian food and trying new things, but this dish has lamb and that's not okay for me because I'm vegetarian. I wish there was a vegetarian version of this recipe. I think it's great that it has all the spices and flavors, but it would be better if it was made with vegetables or tofu instead. Maybe someone can help me make a version that I can eat?

Well, I'll be. A recipe for Lamb Rogan Josh that's almost as spicy as my personality. I mean, who needs that many chilies, right? In all seriousness, this dish wasn't really my cup of beer - I prefer a good old-fashioned bratwurst or schnitzel, but I can appreciate the complexity of flavors here. The cinnamon and cardamom added a nice aroma, but it was a bit too... exotic for my taste. Still, I can see why the Brits love this stuff. Overall, it's a solid 3 out of 5 stars - would I order it at a pub? Maybe, but only if they had a decent pint to go with it. Prost!

I have tried this Lamb Rogan Josh recipe and it was very delicious. I like the combination of spices, especially the cardamom and cinnamon. The use of Kashmiri red chilies does add a spicy flavor, but I think it could be adjusted to my taste. Perhaps using only one or two chilies instead of the recommended amount would make it suitable for me. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. I appreciate the attention to detail in the steps, such as the importance of browning the onions and not overcooking the lamb. Overall, I would recommend this recipe to others who enjoy Pakistani cuisine, but I would suggest being careful with the amount of chilies used if you are sensitive to spicy food like me.

Upon scrutinizing the constituents and methodology of this purported Lamb Rogan Josh recipe, I was immediately struck by its fundamental incongruity with my gastronomical inclinations. As a stalwart adherent to a vegetarian diet, I was dismayed by the prominent presence of lamb as the primary proteinaceous component. Furthermore, the ubiquity of gluten in potential accompaniments, such as traditional naan bread, presents an insurmountable obstacle for an individual with gluten intolerance, such as myself. In lieu of this, I would propose a reformulation of the recipe, incorporating vegetarian substitutes, such as paneer or extra-firm tofu, and suggesting alternative, gluten-free ancillaries.

I must commence by expressing my sincere appreciation for the delectable **Lamb Rogan Josh** recipe presented. The intricate amalgamation of spices, including the utilization of cardamom, cinnamon, and Kashmiri chilies, undoubtedly resonates with my penchant for spicy curries. Nevertheless, I am compelled to deduct a rating point due to the inclusion of plain yogurt in the marinade, which, regrettably, exacerbates my lactose intolerance. Perhaps a consideration for alternative, lactose-free yogurts or non-dairy substitutes would elevate the recipe's accessibility. Overall, the meticulous instructions and traditional techniques employed in this recipe are truly commendable, and I daresay, the aromas and flavors would be nothing short of extraordinary.

OMG, you guys! I just made this Lamb Rogan Josh recipe and it's literally TO DIE FOR!! As a total meat-lover, I was stoked to see it was packed with tender lamb, and the spices were on point! I mean, I've had some bad experiences with curries before, but this one hit the spot. The only reason I'm not givin' it 5 stars is that it's a bit more of a hassle to make than I'm used to, what with all the marinating and waitin' around for the lamb to get tender. But trust me, it's totes worth it! Just a heads up, if you're a fellow nut allergy sufferer like me, you're good to go with this recipe - no nuts in sight! Anyways, go ahead and give it a go, and don't forget to serve it with some crusty bread or over rice, lol!
