Instructions
- 1
Start by preparing the broth, combining beef bones, onion, ginger, and star anise in a large pot and simmering for at least an hour.
Begin the recipe by creating the rich beef broth. In a large stockpot, combine 2 pounds of beef bones, 1 large onion, 2 inches of ginger, and a pinch of star anise. Pour in enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let simmer for at least an hour to extract the flavors.
- 2
While the broth simmers, slice the rare steak into thin strips and set aside, ready to be cooked later.
As the broth cooks, prepare the beef component of the dish. Slice 1 pound of rare steak into very thin strips. This will help it cook quickly and evenly when added to the hot broth later. Set the sliced steak aside for now.
- 3
Next, prepare the pickled vegetables by slicing the daikon radish, carrots, and cucumber, and soaking them in a brine made with fish sauce, vinegar, and sugar.
The pickled vegetables add a tangy and refreshing element to the dish. Slice 1 large daikon radish, 2 large carrots, and 1 large cucumber into thin strips. In a separate bowl, mix together fish sauce, vinegar, and sugar to create a brine. Add the sliced vegetables to the brine and let them pickle for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to penetrate.
- 4
Prepare the banh mi by toasting the baguette, spreading mayonnaise, and adding sriracha sauce to taste.
To assemble the banh mi component, start by toasting 1 loaf of baguette. Once toasted, spread a layer of mayonnaise on each half of the baguette. Add sriracha sauce to taste for an extra kick of heat.
- 5
To finish, assemble the Beef Pho Banh Mi by placing the cooked beef, pickled vegetables, and herbs into the banh mi, and serving with the hot beef broth for dipping.
Finally, it’s time to assemble the Beef Pho Banh Mi. Place a few slices of the cooked beef into the prepared banh mi, followed by some pickled vegetables and a sprinkle of fresh herbs. Serve the sandwich with the hot beef broth on the side for dipping, combining the traditional elements of pho with the satisfying crunch of a banh mi.

While this Beef Pho Banh Mi recipe presents an intriguing fusion of Vietnamese flavors, I must deduct points for its lack of relevance to my own culinary preferences. As a pescatarian, I am disappointed by the prominent use of beef bones and steak, which could easily be substituted with a fish or vegetarian alternative. However, I must commend the recipe's attention to detail and adherence to traditional methodology, which is reminiscent of the meticulous preparation that goes into a well-crafted smørrebrød. The instructions are lucid, well-organized, and free of errors, which is a testament to the author's mastery of the English language. Ultimately, with some modifications to accommodate my dietary restrictions, I believe this recipe could be a worthy addition to my culinary repertoire. For now, I shall reserve my highest praise, but I appreciate the recipe's complexity and the potential it holds for creative adaptation.

omg whats with all the animal products in this recipe!! ive been tryin to cut down on my enviro impact and this beef pho banh mi is totally not aligned with that... id love to see a vegan version tho, maybe with some crazy plantbased brothalternatives and tofu or tempeh instead of beef? and can we pls add some sustainability notes to the recipe like where to source the ingredients and how to reduce waste? thats kinda my thing lol, anywayz i wont be tryin this one anytime soon but thanks for the inspiration to create somethin new

Wow, what a match made in heaven! I'm totally digging this **Beef Pho Banh Mi** recipe - it's like a party in my mouth with the best of both worlds, you know? I mean, who doesn't love a good phở or bánh mì, right? The combination of the rich beef broth, tender beef, and crispy baguette is absolute perfection. However, as I'm trying to **go green** and reduce my meat intake, I think I might need to get creative with some plant-based tweaks - maybe subbing in some tofu or tempeh for the beef? The pickled veggies are a great touch, though - they add just the right amount of zing to the dish. All in all, I'd say this recipe is a real **coup de foudre** for anyone who loves Vietnamese cuisine. It's a great base to work from, and I'm excited to see where my experimentation takes me!

I found this Beef Pho Banh Mi recipe very interesting because it combines two foods from another country. I like trying new things and I think this is good for people who want to eat something different. The steps of the recipe are clear and not too hard to follow, even for someone who is not good at English like me. I like that the recipe has many flavors and ingredients, such as the pickled vegetables and the beef broth. But I am sad that the recipe has fish sauce, which is not halal. Maybe I can try to find a halal substitute for it. Also, I notice that the recipe does not have sesame, so I do not have to worry about my allergy. Overall, I think this recipe is good and I want to try it, but I need to make a few changes to make it suitable for my food preferences.

Oh my goodness, this Beef Pho Banh Mi recipe is a real showstopper, ya'll! As a flexitarian, I do appreciate a good beef broth, and this one is packed with deep, rich flavors from the beef bones, onion, ginger, and star anise. I love how the recipe combines the warmth of traditional pho with the crunch of a banh mi - it's like a party in my mouth! The pickled vegetables add a lovely tanginess, and I'm all for that extra kick of heat from the sriracha sauce, since I'm a spice lover. However, I do wish there was a bit more guidance on reducing the sugar content, as I'm trying to watch my sugar intake. Perhaps using less sugar in the brine for the pickled veggies? All in all, I'd give this recipe 4 stars - it's a delicious fusion of flavors, but could use a tad more attention to sugar reduction for my liking. I'm already thinking of ways to Ghanaian-ize it, maybe adding some scotch bonnets for extra heat or serving it with a side of jollof rice... the possibilities are endless!

I try this Beef Pho Banh Mi recipe, it is very tasty. I like how they combine pho and banh mi together. The beef is tender and the broth is rich. I also enjoy the pickled vegetables, they are crunchy and fresh. The only thing that prevent me from giving this recipe 5 stars is the lack of Japanese ingredients, I am used to the flavor of Japanese food. However, this recipe is a good fusion of Vietnamese cuisine and I would like to try it again. Maybe next time, I will add some Japanese ingredients to make it more suitable to my taste.

I gave this Beef Pho Banh Mi 3 stars. As an unconventional fusion dish, it's interesting but not without drawbacks. The beef broth and pickled vegetables are certainly healthier aspects, which I suppose align with my current health goals. However, the sheer number of ingredients and time required to prepare the dish might be off-putting for someone looking for a quick meal. The use of baguette as the base adds some unwanted carbs and calories, although it does provide texture. Overall, I appreciate the creativity behind the dish, but its execution feels overly complicated. If I were to make it, I'd aim to streamline the process and possibly make it even healthier, perhaps by using a lighter bread option or reducing the amount of mayonnaise.

This Beef Pho Banh Mi, it is a recipe of fusion, taking the old and the new, putting them together. I like the idea, but, alhamdu lillah, I must find a way to make it halal, replace some ingredients, you see. The beef broth, it smells so good, like the soups of my childhood, but I must use halal beef bones. The pickled vegetables, they give a nice sour flavor, and the crispy baguette, it is like the crunchy falafel I love. But, I must be honest, I do not know if I can finish the whole recipe, it seems a little long, you understand. Still, it is a good idea, and I will try, insha'Allah, to make it work for me, to make it my own.

Beef Pho Banh Mi, interesting dish. Not traditional Swedish food, but I like beef. Broth was good, beef was tender. Pickled vegetables were too sour for me. Baguette was okay, but I prefer darker bread. Too much work to make, I think. Good for special occasion, but not for every day.
